The Foundation Weekly 1/23/12

January 23rd, 2012 @

Hello everyone,

It’s been a while since I have sent out my weekly Monday email and I apologize for that.  Our last parent/leader meeting on Jan 8th was very well attended and here is a round up of what we discussed:

  1. Wild Week is approaching and we need you to sign up your students as soon as possible.  We have 50 secure spots that the church prepaid for and those spots are quickly being taken.  We may be able to take more students to camp this year but with this camp being in Alabama the entire camp will be at capacity very quickly.  If you would like to sign up a student you need to go to http://friendship.smartevents.com and then submit your $50 deposit ASAP.  More information can be found on the camp link at http://www.friendshipfamily.net/youth/camp
  2. Leadership Training is a new discipleship training class for anyone wanting to get involved with the students on a deeper level.  We have had 2 classes so far but are open to anyone coming in to get involved.  We meet in the adult Sunday School building.
  3. Feeding the Homeless will take place on February 12, 2012.  We will do about the same thing we did last time.  Students are required to attend Sunday School and one morning worship service to attend.  We will provide food for the students before we leave.
  4. WinterJam this year is on Sunday night March 4th.  Students that want to ride with the church will need to attend Sunday School and one morning worship service.  Cost is $10 and we will leave the church around 2:30pm that day.
  5. Friendship Family Food Festival (Taste of Friendship) will be on Saturday, March 24th.  We are revamping this year’s event and it will be the best yet.  We will be sending out information on how this event will work in the upcoming weeks so look in the Sunday news and notes for updates.
  6. Friendship Family 5K will take place on Saturday, April 28th at Grand Bay Middle School.  We will need lots of help with this so please be looking for information pertaining in the Sunday news and notes.

If you have any questions about anything on this list please don’t hesitate to ask, email, or call.

Love you all,

Chris

Merry Christmas Eve

December 24th, 2011 @

Merry Christmas Eve,

I pray that you have been and will continue to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ during this Christmas season.

I do want to remind you a couple of things that you can pass on.  We will not have The Foundation service this Wednesday night as there will be no services on Wednesday 12/28.  Our next service will be on 1/4/12.

We will have Sunday School services on Sunday morning of New Year’s Day 1/1/12.  I hope to see a great crowd of students to bring in the New Year at Friendship.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to get your $50 deposits in for Wild Week 2012 before January 8th.  The cost is $269, but will increase to $279 if not paid by January 8th.  This camp will sell out fast so don’t take a last minute chance because there will be no room left.   Those checks can be turned into Lynne Watson, Nicole Taylor, Bro. Chris Taylor, Jim Chinners, or the offering plate.  Make sure to write “for Wild Week 2012” on your checks and if turning in cash please put it in an envelope with the amount on the outside stating who it’s from and how much is in it.

Thanks for all the prayers and support,

Chris

Good morning

This comes a day later than stated so I apologize for the delay.

Thanksgiving has come and gone and I hope you are getting ready for Christmas because it will be here before you know it.  This Wednesday night will be our last Wednesday in November then we kick-off December and the craziness it involves.  My hope is that I will be constantly reminded on the Grace that has been given to me by Jesus Christ during this time and onward.

We had some decent numbers in Sunday School and worship this past Sunday.  We were missing some students because of the holidays and I’m sure some were still in bed being lazy.  Our parent/leader meeting went well as always.   We hope to keep on striving to make Friendship Baptist and The Foundation youth ministry a place where the gospel will be presented and students will be awaken to live for Christ like never before.

On Sunday, December 11 we will be providing lunch for the homeless in the Tillman’s Corner area.  This is setup to mainly let the students participate but we do need some help in the way of food preparation.  We still need a couple more folks that will donate 5lbs of Potato Salad.  If you are willing please email me at chris@friendshipfamily.net.  The way this event will play out is any student that wants to participate will have to come to Sunday School and one of the Sunday morning services.  After the late morning worship we will load up the sound system, eat a quickly at the church, then leave for Tillman’s Corner.

Another donation that we will need is winter wear for the homeless.  Understand that these people live outside.  If you have any jackets, blankets, sleeping bags, coats, long sleeve shirts, or anything else please bring them to the church office or give them to me.  We will give out these clothes there.

I will be informing the students about this, putting it in the news & notes, and spreading it online but please spread to neighbors and friends also.

We are back on regular schedule this week so be prepared for another great week of The Foundation youth ministry

Love you all,

Chris

Hello everyone,

Hopefully you are getting geared up for an amazing Thanksgiving tomorrow.  Remember that if your students tell you that they are going to The Foundation tonight they are lying to you because we are not having service.  I doubt we have any that will do that though.

Last week we had great services on Wednesday.  Robert Waldrop spoke to the Junior High and from what I hear did a good job.  Our Senior High service took place in the auditorium and went well also.  We picked up the numbers and hit 170 students last Wednesday in both services.  Hopefully the Thanksgiving break will help our attendance.

Sunday services went well and it was nice to hear Bro. Jerry on Sunday morning, and Tico Vargas on Sunday evening.   Bro. Teddie made it back from Guatemala so we thank the Lord for another good trip and for our pastor to be back safe and sound.

Remember also this Sunday night at 5:00pm in the youth building we will have a youth parent/leader meeting.  We would love for you to join us as we talk about The Foundation youth ministry in the New Year.

Thank you all and give thanks to Jesus Christ this Thanksgiving holiday season.

Good morning everyone,

I apologize for missing writing this last week.  I am on task this week and bringing you more great news from The Foundation youth ministry.  I have lots of folks to thank for the events that went on the past couple of weeks.  Thanks again to all the people that participated, prayed, promoted, pledged, and pushed me to make 8,706 successful free-throws in the fundraiser a couple weeks ago.  Money is still coming in and I’m excited to start doing some local ministry with these funds.  I will give a full recap in a couple weeks on how much was donated.

The calendar fundraiser is still going on until Sunday, November 13, 2011.  If you have run out of calendars you need to use your pre-sale form that was in your packet to take orders.  Also, if you have any left over calendars they need to be turned in by this date.  After Sunday I will make another order if needed.  If you have any questions or concerns let me know.

Thanks to Jodi Crawley for leading the charge for the Grand Bay Middle School football banquet.  About 180 folks from the community attended the banquet, most that do not go to Friendship, and were very pleased at the decorations (lead by Trish Blackwell) and the food that was prepared.  Behind the scenes Raymond Wilkinson volunteered to help get the food prepped for cooking.  There were many more that helped this event be “the greatest banquet we have ever had!” as Coach Potts put it.  Great job showing Christ through the service of Friendship Baptist Church.

Fall Festival Festivities are going on and Amy Huhn is leading that charge.  This Thursday night The Foundation youth ministry will have a booth setup at the Breitling Elementary Fall Festival.  There will be all kinds of things for sale and some volunteer help needed.  This could be a good fundraiser to help with the youth ministry so please pray, participate, and/or promote this event.

This becomes a busier time of the year for me because of the ministry that God brought me to Friendship with.  Challenger basketball has started and this year is proving to be one of our better years in recent history.  God has blessed us with some talented boys on both the older and younger teams.  Please pray that these boys will stay committed to church and committed to the team as we strive to bring home some hardware this season.  If you would like to help or want more information on this ministry please contact me.

The Lord is doing some amazing things in our midst.  Keep praying for salvations, and disciple making in our ministry.

Thanks,
Chris

Good evening everyone,

Thank you for all the support on the free-throw fundraiser.  It was much needed and much appreciated.  This is a short post mainly because it is a bit tough to type.

Tomorrow night we will host the Grand Bay Football team for their yearly banquet.  If you would like to help please come to the church anytime tomorrow evening.  We will need folks to help setup, serve, cleanup, and fellowship to the folks that will be attending.

This past Sunday was the last day for the 2nd 6-week period.  The winners will be announce Wednesday.

Thank you and God Bless,

- Chris

Good morning everyone,

I ask you to be in prayer for our pastor and other Friendship family
members that are in Guatemala as you read this.  Pray for their well-being
and for the Lord to make an impact in the pastors attending the conference.

The Red Roots did a nice job in last night’s service and the students
responded well to the Southern Gospel music.  It probably helped that they
were younger too.  Yesterday’s student attendance was nice in the 10:30a
service as they filled about 6 pews.  It is a blessing to see that every
Sunday morning.  In Sunday school we rounded out the 5th week of our second
6-week Sunday School points competition.  As it stands now the 9th graders
and the 7th grade boys are in the lead to get a private celebration.

This past Wednesday night we ended the Sun Stand Still series in Senior
High and the Junior High joined us for worship and preaching.  I’m not
exactly sure how many we had in attendance but I’m estimating after the
late-stragglers filed in it was in the upwards of 160+.  Jim Chinners
continued with the 2nd week of the new believers class and will be followed
this week with Nicole Taylor leading it as Jim is out of the country
ministering at the pastor’s conference.  It was another great night as we
ended with 6 salvation decisions.  We recorded the service so hopefully, if
interested; you can listen to the worship and the sermon online in the very
near future.

Less than a week left and I will try and make my right arm fall off.
Please help spread the word.  Any one-time donations are accepted and the
pledging starts at 1 penny.  Feel free to come and help out on Friday and
Saturday and please be in prayer for this fundraiser.

Thanks and much love to you all,

Hello everyone,

Happy Monday again and what a blessed day it is.  The Lord blessed us with a great Sunday as Bro. Johnny Tucker brought the word in both morning and evening services.  He has been a blessing to the Friendship Family and is an incredible speaker to all ages.  Many of the students were posting good things about his messages yesterday.

Last night one of our Seniors Zack Knight followed in believers Baptism.  Zack is a very faithful student to The Foundation and I am praying this step will make him stronger in his faith than before.

On Wednesday we had 1 girl give her life to Christ in our Senior High service.  To God be the Glory!  We also started the new believers class with a small number of students.  Jim Chinners is leading that class and has asked for some ladies to help him as there are some attending the class.  If you are interested please email or call Jim.  (email: jchinners@aol.com phone: 251-455-1193).

The 24 Hour Free-throw Fundraiser is only 11 days away.  Please continue to pray that this will be a God honoring fundraiser and that I will be able to hold up for 24 hours.  Also, if you know anyone that would like to pledge (mom, dad, sister, aunt, co-worker, boss, friend, you, etc.) please give them one of the brochures that can be found in the foyer of the church.  If you want to you can direct them to www.24hourfundraiser.com for all the information and the ability to pledge online.  We have received some pledges so far but we are striving for more.  Help us change our world locally by praying, promoting, and participating in this fundraising event.

Thank you and love you all

- Chris

The Foundation Weekly 10/4

October 4th, 2011 @

10/4/11

Good evening everyone,

Sorry for the delay on the weekly newsletter.  Let’s start with the
Wednesday round up.  We had another great service as 3 more students gave
their lives to Christ and 150+ in attendance.  God is really working in our
students and I believe we are not done seeing his work.  Jim Chinners and
some of the leaders started a new believers meeting from 6:30-7p on
Wednesdays and hopefully this will help our students take the next steps in
their Christ centered life.

This Wednesday was also very blessed because we started giving out all the
brochures for the 24 Hour Free-Throw Fundraiser.  Find all the info @
www.24hourfundraiser.com.  This is going to be a God honoring fundraiser,
as we will be able to touch the lives of people around our local community
by meeting their needs and sharing the saving grace of Jesus Christ through
it.  Please pray, promote, and participate in this great fundraiser.

The great attendance numbers we were having on Sundays was thwarted by the
homecoming events.  Our Sunday school numbers and youth attendance in
worship service were way down.  I’m not against homecoming, but I’m not for
it either.  I can’t say at this point that if my son/daughter wanted to go
if I would allow them or not but I know that day will come and I’ll deal
with that then.  Most of it is not God honoring, but I do pray that those
that missed will be in service this upcoming week.

Back to the 24 hour fundraiser (you are going to get tired of me mentioning
this).  I have someone contacting the local news stations and plans are to
promote this on Power 88.  Please pray that this will be something that
will help with getting more pledges.  Advertisement is tricky but can be
very beneficial if done correctly.  If you have any ideas please let me
know.  My focus is on Jesus Christ, how this can honor him, and how we can
spread the gospel through this.  That may not seem like a very large task
but I want to direct my attention to glorifying him so Satan cannot touch
me.  Some of the needs for the night are as follows: food, prayer, video
taping, pictures, rebounding, prayer, counting, encouragement, prayer,
organization of everyone else, security (so no one is running around
outside at 2am), prayer, live blogging, and did I mention prayer.

If you are planning on pledging please fill out the form on one of the
brochures and turn it in to Bro. Chris or fill it out online at
www.24hourfundraiser.com.  Pray, promote, participate!

Love you all and thanks be to Jesus for being allowed to serve

- Chris
