MONDAY, 1/21/08 II

First, I learned as I was driving to Mobile this morning that Buddy Poiroux, Gerald’s brother, passed away at 5:30AM today.  Obviously, the arrangements are incomplete but this family needs our prayer support.

Second, I wrote this morning that Miss Exie Woods was aware of her surroundings but that seems to have changed too.  I visited with her sons, Thomas & Phil, as she was gone for a test.  Thomas said she was seemingly non-responsive early this morning.

Third, I forgot to mention that Willie Pierre’s surgery this past Friday went well.  I don’t have full report but do know the family was pleased with the initial reports.

Fourth, I also didn’t mention the fact that the authorities have found what appears to be the body of the fourth child thrown from the Dauphin Island bridge on 1/7/08.  This body was found some 120 miles away in Louisiana.  Pray for this family as they can now have some closure with the burial of these four children.

MONDAY, 1/21/08

Our weekend was filled with various happenings and a continued moving of God in our services.  First, we thank God for the public profession of faith made by Korie Fontenot in our 10:30AM worship service after she had prayed to receive Jesus as her personal Savior in her Sunday School class.

The GRACE meal went well and thanks to those who prepared it and those who participated in it.  Our next GRACE meal will take place on March 9.

Our students went late night bowling last night and they had a great time.  We had a good number of adults serve as chaperones for this event and they were definitely needed as we used three buses to transport the students to and from the bowling center.  Thanks to all those who helped in any way!

Word came to us yesterday morning via Kerry Woods that his grandmother, Exie Woods, has apparently suffered a stroke.  Her right side is paralyzed and she is unable to communicate verbally.  She is aware of her surroundings.  Please pray for Miss Exie and her family during this time.

Vic Burnett asked us during the early service yesterday to pray for her mother in Ohio who had apparently suffered a stroke also.  She and Tim then received a call that Miss Jackie Roe was in critical condition so they began to ready for a trip to Ohio.  As they were about to leave around 4:00PM yesterday, the call came from Vicki’s brother that their mother had passed away.  Please pray for Tim, Vic, and the entire family.

The doctors have plans to insert a port into Vaughn Womack’s shoulder area early this morning and begin chemotherapy treatments this afternoon.  Pray that all goes well in this procedure and treatment.  Vaughn’s potassium and magnesium levels were too low for this to happen last Friday.

Gerald Poiroux’s brother, Buddy, is seemingly lingering near death’s door in his battle with cancer.  Gerald & Brenda have been staying in the Thomasville area with Buddy during these days.  Pray for the Poiroux family.

Wendy Johnston did well during her surgery but the doctors did have to do the old fashion type surgery instead of the scope.  She was in a great deal of pain on Saturday afternoon when I visited her.  She was thinking that she might be going home today so keep praying for her too.

Jim Sciple was at an Upward game Saturday and in Sunday School yesterday after having double by-pass surgery nine days earlier.  Amazing how men recover so quickly!

We have a plan in place to accommodate all of the students wishing to attend the Wild Week camp this summer.  We will have a very, very important meeting for parents and students immediately following the 6:00PM service this Sunday, 1/27.

Speaking of Sunday evening, Mitchell Fox will be sharing with us during that service about some of things he has been through and what God is doing in his life.  I hope you will come hear this testimony.

I received an e-mail from Dave & Donna Westhouse last night.  They are leading the team that is presently in Guatemala and everything is going good despite one delayed flight, lost luggage, and one lost passport (now found).  Pray for them as they continue to minister through this Thursday.

Sorry for this being so long.  I hope you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
