FRIDAY, 1/25/08

God is good!  He blessed me with traveling mercy as I have driven 21 1/2 hours in the past 37 hours arriving home at 2:00AM this morning.  The snow accumulation was fairly significant in the eastern part of Kentucky but there was none of the white stuff west of Lexington.

The funeral service for Miss Jackie was a blessing as Pastor J.C. Bond and Tim Burnett did a nice job in sharing the Gospel.  I was especially proud of Tim as he simply told the family and friends in attendance exactly what it takes for a person to go to Heaven.

Vic was very thankful for each person who has taken the time to send their condolences via the funeral home’s website.  I have attended hundreds of funerals in my life but that is the first one where it was snowing as the grave side service was taking place.

As I was arriving home this morning, Tim was supposedly leaving Kentucky to come home.  Vic will stay in KY for a week or so.  Pray for traveling mercy for Tim.  Perhaps some of our folks could help with meals for Tim & Aaron during Vic’s absence.

Anthony & Amber Mathenia are IMB missionaries to Ethiopia.  Amber, 28, was in Memphis this past Tuesday while Anthony was on a mission trip.  Amber and their two children were in a Jeep Laredo when they were struck on the driver’s side by another vehicle.  The children were in their car seats and were not injured.  Amber’s physical life was taken.  There will be a visitation tonight in Millington, TN and a service tomorrow at 1st Baptist Millington.  Pray for this family during this difficult time.

The group from Byron Center, MI is travleing today to Guatemala.  Pray for their safety too.  Louise e-mailed me to say that the Moline group had a great week and were wonderful folks.  I thank God for the folks partnering with GRACE Ministries in Guatemala!  We are blessed!

Sorry that I don’t have an update on our folks in the hospital but I didn’t hear any word yesterday and I don’t figure the staff wants to receive a call at 3:00AM.  I will assume that no news is good news!

I hope you will have a great Friday with Jesus.
