FRIDAY, 9/12/08

The nation continues to watch Hurricane Ike as it nears the Texas coast.  It may not make landfall as strong as originally predicted but the storm surge could be huge.  Roads were actually closed in coastal Alabama yesterday due to flooding from Ike and we are hundreds of miles away from the center of the storm.  So, continue to pray for the folks in the path of Hurricane Ike.

I would ask you to pray that our weather would be favorable this afternoon as the Boykin family has the funeral service for Miss Kathleen.  Of course, pray for Mr. Frank and the family too.  Thanks to those who helped with the food preparation last night and to those who attended the visitation.

We have had a blessed week with no one from the Friendship family hospitalized – praise the Lord!  However, Miss Kittie Camp’s brother, Ray Trehern, was admitted to the hospital again yesterday afternoon so pray for him.

Also, I learned last night that Miss Idice Reeves is low physically.  She remains at home and the plans call for her to remain there under hospice care so please pray for her too.

Miss Joyce Bosarge had a good day yesterday but the expectations are that she will begin to experience some sickness from the chemotherapy soon.  Pray for her!

I want to remind our folks that we will observe the ordinance of baptism as a part of our evening worship service this Sunday, 9/14.  Those to be baptized should meet in my office at 5:30PM.

Two walks are coming up – Walk For Bibles (10/18) and Walk For Life (10/25).  You may be asked to pledge money to some of our folks for these events.  If so, please consider helping.  If you have questions about either walk contact David or Kim French (WFB) or Sherry Woods (WFL).

A guy in Montana decides to make Al happy and go green by riding his bicycle to work.  This past Monday he tops a little rise in the road only to T-bone a 300 pound black bear.  He was thrown from his ride and then the bear rolled over on top of him.  Ouch!  He hopes to return to work today!

In France, they have literally called a dog named Scooby to the witness stand in a murder case.  His owner is believed to have committed suicide but the family says she was murdered and the dog was present at the time of the crime.  So, a vet was present in court to see how the dog would react to a suspect.  It was reported that the dog cooperated by barking – hello!

Got to go to Wal Mart.  I pray that you will have a great Friday/weekend with Jesus.  Go to church!  No more posts are planned until Monday, 9/15.
