WHERE IS THE APOLOGY FROM MARK MAST?

I am not real smart but I do know my Asian holidays simply because we have one, or two, or three, or four (depends on the day) living with us.  Plus, I have an Asian son-in-law and an Asian Minister to Students.  How dare Mark Mast challenge my accuracy on this subject!

“Ethnic Vietnamese and Chinese around the world have been preparing in recent days for the Lunar New Year, one of the biggest events of the year for celebrants.

“It’s one of the major holidays that we value,” said Van Le, chairman of the New Jersey Vietnamese-American Community Association. The Vietnamese New Year is generally celebrated on the same day as the Chinese New Year.”

MONDAY, 1/26/09

Wow, it has already been Monday all morning!  The reason this entry is late is because it is Vietnamese New Year!  (One excuse is as good as the next!)

The Lord gave us a great day yesterday as we had a salvation decision in the 10:30AM service (Jacob Boyd) and another one in the 6:00PM service (Mary Jo Laster) with one joining us by transfer of letter (Sue Blodgett) too.  God gives the increase and we give Him all of the glory!

The Friendship family took a historic step last night as we called our first ever full time Minister to Students.  Chris Taylor will assume this position beginning this Sunday, 2/1.  He received a unanimous vote!  I appreciate the deacons and the finance committee for their prayers, meetings, input, and vision.  Pray for Chris & Nicole and our student ministry as we begin this new journey together!

Miss Joyce Bosarge came home from the hospital last night.  Carla Felps & Shea Childress receive treatments tomorrow.  A hospital bed is being delivered to Jimmy Crawley’s house to help make it easier on the family in their care of him.  Sonny Bates’ nephew, Eddie Crocker, has had his leukemia return.  Tina Sprinkle will have surgery on her back Wednesday.  Pray for these folks!

We had twenty something folks come last night to help sort pills for the upcoming GRACE trip.  Thanks to each person who helped.  Pastor Travis Northcutt and his church family are shipping another load of pills to us today – what a blessing!

The Friendship family did a wonderful job of saying “welcome” to Rita & the girls last night.  Thank you for the gifts & the cards.  Thanks to Sherry Lavelle for coordinating that fellowship on very short notice.  Thanks to all who brought food too!  Rita was surprised and grateful!

Our high school and college students who are participating in a GRACE trip this summer are selling gourmet apples.  If interested in purchasing one, or more, contact the church office.

Our first night of another semester of FAITH is tonight.  Our 5th & 6th grade RA basketball team plays in their league championship game tonight.

Gotta go – it’s Monday!  I hope you have a great Monday with Jesus.
