SUNDAY, 10/31/10

On the point today – Carl Ray Moulds & Keith Young.  Tomorrow – Rita Boutwell & June Strickler.  Tuesday – Sonny Bates & Wanda Jordan.

Good morning from Spartanburg, South Carolina.  I have taken a week’s vacation in order to be in a series of revival services with Pastor Terry Rainey and the fine folks of the Motlow Creek Baptist Church.  I am honored at the invitation and am praying that God will show up this week in a mighty way.  I ask you to join me in that prayer.

You may ask, “what about us?”  Our Pastor Emeritus, Bro. Robbie Howard, will be preaching in the morning services today.  Bro. Jerry Whitmore will preach the 2:00PM service.  Bro. Jerry Hovel will preach the 6:00PM service.  The Friendship family is in good hands!

Bro. Benny McGath will lead the Hallelujah Festival today from 4:00 – 7:00PM.  Pray for and participate in this ministry opportunity.  I appreciate Bro. Benny & Miss Julie taking on this responsibility in Dale’s absence.

Speaking of Dale, he & Karla are in Washington ministering today.  Pray for them as they present the Gospel!

Keep praying for Sonny Bates, Miss Joyce Bosarge, and Alex Moreland.  Alex remains hospitalized in New Orleans while Sonny & Miss Joyce are home.

I told you that Bama would not lose yesterday but they might win and win they did!  I do not have any Mizzou friends so it did not bother me to see them lose.  However, I have many Michigan State fans who are dear friends so I hated it for them but their loss did help Bama’s ultimate cause.  Auburn played another great game so congratulations to them.  I also have to say that I was pulling for Coach Richt & the UGA Bulldogs (sorry about that Rick Bradley!) but the Gators prevailed.

I rest assured that Ross Hatcher will be contacting Coach Saban today as it is the coach’s 59th birthday!  That Ross is such a thoughtful guy!

Pray for Lisa and me today.  She will be teaching Sunday School at 10:00AM and I will be preaching at 11:00AM and 6:00PM.  Please know that we are praying for the Friendship family.

Speaking of prayer, we have room for more folks to join us “on the point.”  Contact me via e-mail or call the church office to get your assigned date.  Pray for Pastor Michael Mason & Rex Looney.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.

MY MISTAKE & MY APOLOGY

As I was driving this afternoon, I was praying (eyes open – Ken Freeman style) and it hit me like a ton of bricks when I prayed for Alex Moreland that I did not mention her in yesterday’s entry.  Alex is the 11 year old granddaughter of Mike & Janice Moreland.  She underwent 7 1/2 hours of surgery yesterday but is doing good.  Mike & Janice are coming back to Grand Bay today and will be in the services.   So, I apologize to Mike & Janice for my “mental lapse” mistake.

Liz Whalen commented on yesterday’s blog that Miss Joyce Bosarge is coming home from the hospital.  Keep praying!

Lord willing, I will post again in the morning.  Pray for tomorrow night’s Hallelujah Festival.

FRIDAY, 10/29/10

On the point today:  Maxine Dupont & Louise Morris.  Tomorrow – Sierra Edwards & Lisa Turrentine.  Sunday – Carl Ray Moulds & Keith Young.

Visited with Sonny Bates yesterday afternoon and he was waiting to go home.  He had been discharged a couple of hours earlier but they were slow in getting him out of the hospital.  He & Rebecca were eager to go home!

Miss Joyce Bosarge was in good spirits and feeling much better as they have increased her pain medication.  It is “possible” that she will be discharged today.

Visited with Lois Kirschenman and Earl was doing good.  He remains in CCU but the doctor says he is doing well.  He will probably be in the hospital until early next week.  Pray for all of these folks.

Sunday will be a big day at Friendship with the normal morning services followed by the “Hallelujah Festival” from 4:00 – 7:00PM.  Pray for that day and contact Bro. Benny if you will help with the last minute set up, actual event, or clean up.  Please note that we will have an evening service in the auditorium beginning at 6:00PM.

Dale & Karla Bosarge fly out this afternoon heading to Washington for a ministry opportunity this Sunday.  Pray for them to have safe travels and a great time of ministry.

We now have at least one person “on the point” each of the 40 day prayer emphasis.  Pray for revival!  Pray for Pastor Michael Mason.  I felt led to ask Rex Looney to be with us to lead in the musical worship.  He cannot be here for the Sunday services but will join us for the Monday – Wednesday services.  You can still sign up to be a “point person” by simply calling the church office during regular hours or using one of the forms in the foyer.

Bama will not get beat this weekend but they may win!  I am not watching much of the WS but the Giants pitching has been good/great through the first two games.  I predict Favre will start this Sunday because his ego is too big to let the streak end.  What a tough break for the Noles last night.

I pray that you will have a great weekend with Jesus!  Go to church!

THURSDAY, 10/28/10

On the point today:  Clara Broadus & Sharon Jardee.  (Note the change from Lisa to Clara).  Tomorrow:  Maxine Dupont & Louise Morris.  Saturday: Sierra Edwards & Lisa Turrentine.

We had a good day in our services yesterday/last night.  It is such a blessing to see folks who are faithful on Wednesday nights unlike folks who are “fair” in their attendance i.e. Josh, Brianne, Kristin, Sam, Lindsey – just saying!

Sonny Bates continues in his post surgery recovery and should come home today or tomorrow.  Miss Joyce could come home in the next day or so too.  Earl Kirschenman did well through his surgery.  Neal & Nancy’s daughter-in-law remains hospitalized.  Pray for these folks.

Faith Academy won one match yesterday and then ended up on the low end of the score in the second match last night which means they made it to the Final Four.  That is a really, really good season.

This entry is way late today because we did not have electricity this morning.  Gotta go!  I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 10/27/10

UPDATE @ 7:45AM – Liz just sent word that her mother, Miss Joyce Bosarge, was admitted to the hospital yesterday.  Low blood count and a need to increase pain medications.  Pray for Miss Joyce.

On the point today – Cecil Guidry & me.  Tomorrow – Sharon Jardee & Lisa Turrentine.  Pray without ceasing!  Michael Mason 616 Birdsprings Road  Hartselle, AL 35640

Earl Kirschenman will have heart valve replacement surgery today.  Pray for him.

I visited with Sonny Bates yesterday but he was sleeping soundly so I did not awaken him.  I hear that he is doing better.  My guess is that he will come home either tomorrow or Friday but again that is only my guess.

Neal & Nancy West’s daughter-in-law was admitted to the hospital with a suspected blood clot.

Word is that Dr. Jack Bailey did well through his surgery yesterday morning.  Praise the Lord!

Faith Academy plays in the state volleyball “Elite Eight” this afternoon at 2:00PM.  Kourtney Wadkins is on that team and plays very well as a freshman.  The Hall girls led FA to a state title last year and hopefully Kourtney can do the same this year.  If they win at 2:00PM, they will play again at 8:30PM tonight.

My good friend and snow skiing partner, Spencer Cole, coaches the Danville Lady Hawks in volleyball.  They too are in the “Elite Eight” (different classification) and play today at 12:30PM and possibly 7:00PM.  This is their sixth consecutive trip to the state tourney and hopefully they will win it all this time.  If not, they should replace Spencer with a combo of Joe David Bailey & Rex Looney!

By the way, Dr. Rex, please e-mail me today.  My messages to you keep getting returned as undeliverable.

Want a McWedding with that order?  Huh?  Three McDonalds restaurants in Hong Kong are now offering wedding services providing the place, food, and someone to officiate the wedding.  Is that crazy or what!

We are on a regular schedule today with the morning service, evening activities, and the 8:00PM Bible study.  I pray that many members of the Friendship family will join us.

I also pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

P.S. – Today is my younger brother’s birthday.  Since he looks so much like me then I will say he is my best looking brother which is not saying much!  Happy 46th birthday to Freddie!

TUESDAY, 10/26/10

Sonny Bates did well through his surgery but was experiencing pain and sickness last night.  Pray that he will have a much better day today.

I visited with Miss Joyce Bosarge last night.  She had been having a rough go of it but was better yesterday afternoon.  Liz & Thea will take her to the doctor today.  She is such a sweet lady.

Miss Monette Nations was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon.

The funeral service for Alice Pigorsch will take place today at noon from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home.  Keep praying for the Pigorsch family.

Pastor Jack Bailey is having his knee operated on today.  Pray that goes well.

Earl Kirschenman will have surgery tomorrow.

Ross & Ryan Hatcher gave of their time  and talents to clean the carpet in the auditorium yesterday.  I appreciate this act of service/ministry.

I watched the Monday Night NFL game last night which really makes me want to ask a question but, out of respect for Deanna Rhyne, I refrain!

My favorite, best looking, youngest, easiest to get along with sister celebrates a birthday today!  Happy birthday, Melissa!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

P.S. – So these 2 iPhones got married … the wedding was beautiful, but the reception was horrible. (Borrowed from Pastor Tim in Canada)

MONDAY, 10/25/10

Bro. Sonny Bates will have knee replacement surgery this afternoon.  Pray that all will go well during this procedure and that he will recover quickly.

Earl Kirschenman will have valve replacement surgery on his heart on Wednesday morning.  Pray that will go well too.

The visitation with the Alice Pigorsch family will take place from 5:00 – 8:00PM tonight at Serenity with a noon service tomorrow.  Miss Alice will be buried in the Grand Bay Cemetery.  Thank you to Miss Vinnie for coordinating the feeding of the family and to each one who will be helping by providing the food.  Please bring the food to the fellowship hall no later than 12:00 noon tomorrow.

Miss Monette Nations is in a local hospital and the doctors are not sure the cause of her problems.  She spent one night in ICU but is now in a regular room.  Pray for her.

I could write a really lengthy blog about my gratitude for the service last night recognizing my 20 years of service as pastor of the Friendship family.  However, I am going to simply say a huge “thank you” for the flowers, gifts, cards, kind words spoken, and every other act of kindness shown to my family and me.  I do not deserve such kindnesses but do appreciate them.  Friendship folks are the best!  Wow, 2o years as pastor and almost 32 years on staff – where does the time go?

Tomorrow, 10/26, marks the beginning of our 40 days of prayer emphasis for revival.  Pastor Michael Mason will be with us the dates of Sunday, December 5, through Wednesday, December 8.  I will be taking the first day as the “point person” and plan on posting another blog later today/tonight listing the folks who will be “on the point” for the rest of this week.  Remember, we all need to pray daily for revival but these folks on the point will be leading the effort on their assigned day.

Congratulations to the Auburn football team on their #1 BCS ranking.  I would much rather Alabama be in that spot but Kim French, Scott Fontenot, Ross & Betty Clair Hatcher, and the other three Auburn fans in our church are happy “cam”pers today!  The same can be said for my siblings and their families along with Pastor Bob Harvey.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
