WEDNESDAY, 11/17/10

Today – Sue Blodgett & Rita Padilla.  Tomorrow – Morris Bryant & Mike Moreland.  Friday – Jerry & Gloria Whitmore.  Pray for Pastor Michael Mason & Rex Looney.

Leslie Broome, niece-in-law, of Bobby Broome and Ann Clark departed this life Monday.  I do not know the arrangements but do ask that you pray for her husband, Joey, and the entire Broome family during this time.

Miss Peggy Benefield is in the hospital and will have a heart cath this morning.  Jay Black was involved in an automobile accident yesterday and was banged up (broken ankle, et cetera) pretty good.  The news for Roy Blodgett continues to not be “good” as they have found additional tumors.  The doctors are debating removing one kidney.  Pray for Roy & Sue.

Miss Jackie Goff came home from the hospital.  Brenda Poiroux suffered a broken hand when she took a fall last Saturday.

Carla Kyser has been having some additional pain so they will run a battery of tests next week.  Pray that will go well.  Miss Joyce Bosarge continues to be under hospice care and needs our continued prayers too.

Joe David Bailey thinks the NFL is better than college football and is raving over Michael Vick’s play of late.  I agree with JD on a lot of stuff but he can be so wrong some times as is the case here.  Please!

Today is a regular day at Friendship.  I pray you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/16/10

On the point today – Myrtle Bowden & Willie Roberts.  Tomorrow – Sue Blodgett & Rita Padilla.  Thursday – Morris Bryant & Mike Moreland.  Pray for revival!

Jan Cummings mother had a biopsy yesterday morning and the initial results look good.  Thanks for praying.

Roy Blodgett (Sue’s husband) has been admitted to the hospital again.  It is possible that he could undergo another surgery today.  Pray for Roy & Sue.

I have not gotten a report on Miss Jackie Goff.  I do know that Bro. Kerry was with her family during the procedure.  Pray for Miss Jackie & Bro. Bill.

Rachael Jackson’s grandmother is in the hospital but is doing better.  Miss Kathleen Henderson spent some time in the hospital recently but is also doing better.

Pray for Pastor Jack Bailey and the church family at Danville Baptist Church as they are in a series of revival services.  Also, they lost one of their most dear church members this past Sunday afternoon.

I appreciate Bro. Jerry keeping me up to date so I can do so on this blog.  I am blogging daily on the GRACE blog too.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/15/10

On the point today – Liz Cole & Hilda Gunter.  Tomorrow – Myrtle Bowden & Willie Roberts.  Wednesday – Sue Blodgett & Rita Padilla.  (Need six more new folks to give us at least two folks per day “on the point!”  Remember the cards to Pastor Michael Mason & Bro. Rex Looney.

Miss Jackie Goff is having surgery today.  Please pray for her.  Miss Jackie has had problems for some time but she does not complain.  I also ask that you keep praying for Miss Joyce Bosarge as she is now under hospice care.

We had a good day in our services yesterday.  Bro. Alex from India (Joe David, you need to get me Will’s info so they can hook up) did a great job of sharing during the evening service.  Placing missionaries and planting churches where there are zero Christians – wow!  I am thankful that the Friendship family supports such a ministry.  Pray for Alex & Alice!

It was encouraging to see 17 Latino folks attend the afternoon service yesterday along with 8 church members there to serve/support.  Pray for our Spanish ministry.

We will have the Upward basketball ministry this year.  The actual season will begin in January ending in February.  Kristy Sullenberger is serving as our coordinator and she has been given a valuable assist by Bro. Benny McGath.  Questions?  Contact Kristy personally.

As I write this, Dr. Rex Looney and I are on a Delta flight bound for Guatemala.  Continental & American are also bringing folks to be a part of this annual GRACE team.  When everyone arrives, we will have 45 North Americans and 3 Central Americans making up this team.  They are coming from Canada, Alabama, Michigan, Minnesota, & New York.  Pray that we will have a good week of ministry.  You will need to check out the GRACE blog to catch a glimpse of my first day on this trip.  Suffice it to say that Soy is to blame!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

HAPPY 54TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

My parents, Charles & Carolyn Turrentine, were married on November 13, 1956 so today, 11/13/10, marks fifty-four years of marriage for them.  What an example they have been to my siblings and me.  Happy anniversary dad & mama!

FRIDAY, 11/12/10

On the point today –  today – Kittie Camp & Maria Wainwright.  Tomorrow – Linda Green & Bill Kendrick.  Sunday – Kenny Lingle & Janice Moreland.  Remember, if possible, send a card to Pastor Michael and Bro. Rex.

I visited with Merwyn Gunter yesterday and he was supposed to come home from the hospital but I do not know if he did.  He sure did want to come home.  Dale Bosarge’s surgery was very quick and he did well as did Oscar Petersen through his surgery.  Pray for these men as well as those battling cancer especially Miss Joyce Bosarge and Carla Kyser.

Betty Creech’s father, Mr. Walley, continues to need our daily prayers.

I forgot (imagine that!) to congratulate Pastor Clint & Suzanne Landry on the arrival of their third child this past Wednesday.  Amelia Landry checked into this world at five pounds, nine ounces.  As far as I know, all is well!  Praise the Lord!  (Lord, please let her favor Suzy! LOL!)

Jerry & Gloria have done an excellent job of hosting the Lightfields this past week.  I appreciate that!

Yesterday saw me using a half day’s vacation in order to keep Titus as Daphne spent some time in the hospital.  They rehydrated her and she is now at home.  What a “different” day for me!

We are on a regular schedule for this Sunday.  Hope many members of the Friendship family will be present.

The Lakers were beaten last night for the first time this season.  Must have been the refs!  I am not a Celtics’ fan but did enjoy watching some of their victory over the Heat.  Bama needs a win tomorrow night.

I pray that you will have a great weekend with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 11/11/10

We begin with a huge salute to all veterans especially those who are a part of the Friendship family.  Thank God for our veterans!

On the point today – Tiffany Fox & Jerry Hovel.  Tomorrow – Kittie Camp & Maria Wainwright.  Saturday – Linda Green & Bill Kendrick.  Sunday – Kenny Lingle & Janice Moreland.  Pray without ceasing!

This entry is very late and I apologize.  It is too complicated to explain but it involves Crazy Love, basketball, a phone call at midnight, algebra, school, MGCCC, need I go on?

We had a good day in our services yesterday.  Our “brunch with the bunch” went very well.  Special thanks to Phil Sims, Greg Boutwell and Blo Joe & Cecil Guidry for cooking.  We were joined in our 10:00AM & 7:00PM services by Kirk, Michelle, & Amanda Lightfield, independent missionaries to Guatemala, and Kirk did a good job of sharing about their ministry.  He is on staff at the seminary in Chimaltenango.

Merwyn Gunter remains hospitalized.  Miss Joyce Bosarge is now under hospice care.  Oscar Petersen is having eye surgery today and Dale Bosarge is also having surgery.  Roy Blodgett went back to the hospital yesterday but, after some care, came back home.  Carla Kyser may be stopping her treatment for a period of time as the doctors evaluate her.  Pray for all of these folks.

Gotta go.  I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 11/10/10

On the point today – Allen & Edna Glover.  Tomorrow – Tiffany Fox & Bro. Jerry Hovel.  Friday – Kittie Camp & Maria Wainwright.

Rex Looney’s address – 28879 Sagewood Circle  Toney, AL 35773.

Edith Maxie, mother of Pastor Ronnie Maxie (former pastor @ Union Baptist), and sister of Bobby Broome & Ann Clark passed away yesterday afternoon in Richton, MS.  She is the first of the 14 Broome siblings to pass from this life which is amazing to me considering they are all 60+ years old.  Arrangements are pending.  Pray for the family.

“Brunch with the Bunch” will take place at 9:30AM today.  It is actually “breakfast” but “brunch” rhymes.  Phil Sims, Greg Boutwell, and Blo Joe Guidry are the cooks.  We will eat in fellowship hall and then simply stay there for our morning Bible study.  Folks coming at 10:00AM will need to come to the fellowship hall.

Otherwise, we are on a regular schedule today with the evening services at 7:00PM concluding with our 8:00PM Bible study.

It seems a new story comes out about Cam Newton each day.  I suggest they rule him ineligible for all games on November 26, 2010!  LOL!

I do not want to draw too much attention to it but there is a certain west coast team in the NBA that is 8 – 0.  Just saying!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/9/10

On the point today – Ted Ezell & John Meredith.  Tomorrow – Allen & Edna Glover.  Thursday – Tiffany Fox & Jerry Hovel.

We had four more folks sign up yesterday to be “on the point” and I appreciate that so much.  You can call the church office or send me an e-mail (pastor @friendshipfamily.net) if you want to be assigned a day to pray.  Thanks!

Please keep those cards & letters going to Dr. Michael.  His address is 616 Birdsprings Road  Hartselle, AL 35640.  (Dr. Rex, please send me your home mailing address)

Roy Blodgett had a procedure done yesterday.  The report was not what Miss Sue wanted to hear as they are making plans to do another procedure next week.  Earl Kirschenman was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon.

The funeral service for Bro. Gilbert Emerson’s wife will take place today at 11:00AM at 1st Baptist Helena, MS.  Bro. Robbie will be preaching that service.

Ann Clark & Bobby Broome’s sister, Edith Maxie, seems to be very low physically.  She is at home under the care of hospice.  Pray for all of these folks who have been listed along with those who are battling cancer.

The meals for the Spanish ministry have been covered for the rest of 2010 – thank you!  As a matter of fact, the number of folks willing to help was greater than the need – praise the Lord!

There will be another night of Upward evaluations tonight from 6:00 – 8:00PM.  The final night of evaluation will take place this Thursday night from 6:00 – 8:00PM.

We have “brunch with the bunch” tomorrow morning at 9:30AM.  We will remain in the fellowship hall for our 10:00AM service.  Lisa and I are providing everything so all we need you to do is show up!  Those not wanting to eat are asked to come at 10:00AM.

Terry Stephan and team made it safely to the mission house yesterday afternoon.  They will begin their ministry today.  Pray for them.

The MNF game was pretty boring last night.  I do not know the big deal about Cam Newton using a paper belonging to someone else (can you say Sam Schjott?) as Nicole wrote all of the papers Chris turned in while at South.  LOL!

Someone passed me on the road last night with no headlights.  I could not tell where they were from but did note there were no troopers to be found.  Huh?  You would not understand!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/8/10

On the point today – Greg Boutwell & Debbie Hyatt.  Tomorrow – Ted Ezell & John Meredith.  Wednesday – Allen & Edna Glover.

Roy Blodgett, Sue’s husband, is supposed to have surgery today but there is a possibility it will be postponed.  Earl Kirschenman remains hospitalized.  Pray for them.

Wes Bates e-mailed Saturday to say the the keyboardist in their church lost her husband to death about six months ago and this weekend lost her 24 year old son very unexpectedly to death.  Wow!  Pray for that family.

We had a good day in our services yesterday.  The early service was especially well attended.  We praise God for Mitchel Fox’s salvation decision during our evening service.

Upward basketball evaluations will take place again this week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) from 6:00 – 8:00PM each of those three nights.  Our numbers are not looking so great.  It is important that any children wishing to play sign up now.

I appreciate those folks who signed up to feed the folks who attend our Spanish service on Sunday afternoons.  We now have the next four Sundays covered.  We need someone to volunteer for the 12th & 19th of December and that will take care of this calendar year.  Call the church office or Lisa if you will help.  Thanks!

Our church visitation/outreach ministry takes place tonight at 6:00PM.  You are encouraged to be a part of this ministry.  Contact Bro. Jerry for the details.

Pastor Breck Ladd and the folks from Lakeside Baptist in Birmingham are coming home from Guatemala today while Terry Stephan and a group from Mobile are headed that way.  Pray for both of these teams.

I do not get into predictions but I am going to give it a try.  First, I predict Alabama will not be in this year’s NC game in Arizona.  Second, I predict the Cowboys will not be in this year’s Super Bowl!  (How ’bout them Cowboys?)  I could be wrong but this prediction stuff is not an exact science!

Hope you have a great Monday with Jesus!

FRIDAY, 11/5/10

On the point today – Clara Broadus & Rachael Jackson.  Saturday – Helen Ruth Brinkman & Tena Hovel.  Sunday – Peggy Benefield & Nanette Stephens.

As far as I know, Miss Bryant, Kourtney Wadkins, and Earl Kirschenman all remain in the hospital.  Nadine’s mother went home.  Joslyn Turrentine remains hospitalized but is making improvement.  Keep praying for these folks.

The annual pig roast was a blessing.  It was so good to see so many long time friends and to meet a good number of “new” friends.  I appreciate these folks taking the time out of their schedules to  meet with us.  Pastor Bob Harvey did a good job of sharing the Word with us.  Tom did a good job with the pig while Shari and a number of the ladies did an excellent job with the other food, set up, et cetera.

Today is Louise Mason’s birthday.  I think it is her 80th but I could be off a year or two!  LOL!  Happy birthday Louise!

Lisa and I will spend the morning looking at bathroom fixtures.  There is a slight possibility of light snow here today.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.  Lord willing, I hope to join many members of the Friendship family in worship this Sunday morning.
