THURSDAY, 3/22/12

Miss Kathleen Henderson remains hospitalized.  Joey says that she is doing better.  Keep praying.

Sarah Morgan came home from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon and is supposed to see another doctor.  Pray for her to be able to get in to a doctor quickly.

We had a really good day in our services yesterday.  The attendance in our 7:00PM service was really good.  Our 8:00PM attendance was up as well.  God is good!

Wow, the NFL did a number on the Saints for the “bounty” program!  The bad news for the Saints is that the NFL is not finished as the players have not been touched yet.  One of the players said they are going to show everyone by winning the Super Bowl next year – I do not think so!

Tim Tebow got traded for a fourth round draft pick – are you serious!  Dr. Jack & Miss June are not happy campers as they love Tebow but not so much Rex Ryan.

Back to the NCAA tourney tonight.  I hope to get to watch more of the games this weekend than I did last weekend.  Remember, UK all the way!

I pray your Thursday will be blessed!

WEDNESDAY, 3/21/12

Christie Wynn’s daughter, Sarah, did not seem to be any better yesterday when I visited them.  They were waiting for a doctor to come talk to them.  Pray for Sarah.

Miss Kathleen Henderson was sitting in a chair in her ICU room when I visited yesterday.  A nurse told me that she was about to be moved to a regular room.  I cannot say for certain that happened but the nurse was emphatic.  Pray for Miss Kathleen.

Our work day is scheduled for this Saturday, 3/24, beginning at 8:00AM.  Plans call for us to be finished before noon.  We will not be providing breakfast or lunch.  We will mainly focus on yard work.  Sunday School teachers could use this opportunity to clean their rooms.  All of this is in preparation for Easter Sunday.

The “Friendship Food Festival” takes place this Saturday night, 3/24, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM.  If you do not have tickets, contact Bro. Chris.  Good food, good fellowship, good cause.

I did go see the ENT doctor yesterday because of an ongoing problem with my left ear.  It was once again filled with fluid and he got it out so I can hear out of that ear again.  I have an infection in my ear.  Here is the deal – he put a purple powder in my ear that vets use in dogs and other animals and then gave me a pill that they normally only give to women for other problems.  Are those two things working?  I do not know but I do know that I had a strong urge to chase a car yesterday afternoon and this morning I kept asking Lisa if my clothes made me look big?

We are on a regular schedule today.  I hope to be joined by many members of the Friendship family for one of our services.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 3/20/12

Miss Kathleen Henderson fell at home yesterday and was transported by ambulance to a hospital.  It was initially believed that she had injured her hip but the test revealed a blood clot in her leg (thigh area).  She was taken to emergency surgery last night.  The surgeon said the blood clot came from her heart and it has completely stopped the circulation to her lower leg.  They removed the clot and all is well according to the doctor.  (By the way, the surgeon was Dr. Eubanks and I was very impressed with him as he talked to the family)  Miss Kathleen spent the night in ICU and will hopefully go to a room today.

Sarah Morgan, Christie Wynn’s daughter, has been having seizures and is in a local hospital.  The allowed her to have one for an extended period of time on Sunday night in order to know how to treat her.  I will visit with her this morning.

Our senior adults are traveling to Pensacola today.  They will visit with Miss Helen Ruth Brinkman and will also go somewhere for lunch.

The Orange team leads our GROW ministry tonight.  That begins at 6:30PM.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 3/19/12

We were blessed with another good Sunday.  God is good!  What a joy to see Tiffany Hood pray to receive Jesus as her personal Savior during our 10:30AM service.  What a blessing to have Richard & Debbie Atkinson join the Friendship family by transfer of letter during the evening service.  God gives the increase and we give Him the glory!

The Friendship family has adopted a four year old daughter!  You read correctly.  Last night, the church voted unanimously to become the parent church for a  church in San Salvador, El Salvador.  That church made this request in writing on 11/15/11 and our deacons have prayed and considered this for the past four months.  I ask you to join me in praying that we can be good examples to them and help in the disciple making process.  We now have a daughter church in Guatemala and one in El Salvador – amazing!

I did not attend the yard sale or auction this weekend but Tena Hovel told me they did well.  I do know those folks who worked the yard sale/auction were tired folks yesterday.  Thanks to all those who took part by working, donating, or buying.  All proceeds will go to the ministry portion of the trip being led by Bro. Jerry this July.

Rebecca Taylor’s grandfather-in-law passed away.  Pray for the Taylor family as they walk through this valley again having been there only a few weeks ago.

The event formerly known as The Taste of Friendship takes place this Saturday, 3/24, from 5:00 – 7:00PM.  Our day begins much earlier as we will have a work day beginning at 8:00AM.  We will not work past noon and normally finish before that hour.  We are trying to ready the grounds for the Easter weekend.

I could not name half of the teams in the Sweet Sixteen but I can tell you that UK will win it all!  Timber and I believe that!

The grass is cut, the entire garden is planted, and the weeds have been eaten.  I have the sunburn to prove it too!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

WE HAVE A WINNER!

It was not known to the outside world but we had a crawfish eating contest last night which actually carried over to this morning as one contestant could not be present until today.

Long story short – Katelyn “Katie” Howard Tillman is the official crawfish eating champion of the 20-29 year old Sunday School class.  It did not appear she would win until she took her shoes off and then she began to suck those crawfish heads, slurp on that juice, et cetera.  She had crawfish juice running down her chin, elbows, on her blouse, dripping onto her bare feet and was basically a mess!

In her post eating interview with the local media, she said the secret to winning is taking your shoes off and getting comfortable.  She also stated that she would have done even better if the contestants had been standing in mud instead of on concrete.

If you stumble on this entry before the services tomorrow, congratulate Katie on her victory!

SATURDAY, 3/17/12

Miss Camp e-mailed me yesterday that say that Rebecca Taylor’s paternal grandfather-in-law is in the hospital and not doing well.  His wife just recently passed away.  Pray for the Taylor family.

I received another e-mail that warrants prayer but I really do not want to divulge the reason.  I just ask you to pray and trust that God knows.

The yard continues until noon today and the auction begins at 6:00PM.  What is in the auction?  You will either need to go by the CAB or contact Bro. Jerry as I do not know.

There will be a meeting tomorrow afternoon at 4:00PM to discuss the two motions that will be presented for a vote by the Friendship family tomorrow night.  Our desire is to see the will of God in the life of the Friendship family.

We had a really good Sunday School fellowship last night.  Special thanks to Randall Broome for doing the cooking of the crawfish and oysters.  He did an excellent job!  (At least that is what I am told as I do not eat either.  Crawl fish are too spicy for me and you do not want to know why I do not eat oysters!)  Special thanks to Brad Hutto for being the grill master.   He did great too!  It was all good!

We will have a normal schedule tomorrow.  Lord willing, I will be preaching in the two morning services and the evening service.  We will observe the ordinance of baptism as a part of our evening service.  Baptismal candidates should meet with Bro. Jerry at 5:30PM tomorrow.

Here is a rule of thumb that seems to always work when predicting the outcome of sporting events i.e. the NCAA mens’ basketball tourney.  Let Joe David Bailey make his picks and then basically go opposite of him.  He picked Missouri to win it all – can you believe that!  Yes, Bama got beat but it is always a good day when Duke & Notre Dame lose!  (Quick, can anyone tell me where Lee High is located?  That is what I thought!)

Still have yard work to do today and a garden to plant.  (Meagan “Bo” Older sold me my seed, plants, and fertilizer yesterday)  It is going to be a full day for me.  I am loving this weather!

I pray your Saturday is great with Jesus!

FRIDAY, 3/16/12

Brenda Poiroux sent me an e-mail update on Anna Carol Bosarge yesterday afternoon.  The doctor in Birmingham diagnosed her with trigeminal neuralgia.  Took her off some meds and put her on a new med.  He feels confident this is her problem and this new med will help.  Pray that it does.

Tommy Johnson’s dad received a treatment yesterday.  Pray that he does well over these next couple of weeks.

Miss Bryant is doing good.  One doctor said she might go home today but it will probably be tomorrow.

The yard sale continues today and tomorrow until noon.  The auction begins at 6:00PM tomorrow.  I was told there was a steady flow of folks yesterday.

Wow, what an absolutely beautiful day yesterday.  We are having a SS fellowship tonight so Lisa was cracking that proverbial whip.  Scott Older graciously came over and gave me a hand in getting my mower prepped for the summer  (He is like Gomer’s cousin, Goober – he can take a mower apart and put it back together in the living room!)  I have to finish mowing today and start getting ready to plant “our” (I use that term very loosely) tomorrow.

Did not watch but a few minutes of the NCAA tourney games.  Chris & Courtney are in mourning b/c USM lost.  I think Bama may very well join them today but you never know.  I guess all the love the Shockers were getting was for naught!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.  I will post again tomorrow, Lord willing.

I WAS WRONG (IMAGINE THAT!)

I am waiting for the audible gasp to subside before I continue this post. . . .

If you receive the pastor’s letter electronically, you should have received back to back e-mails on Tuesday night.  The first was the letter and the second was the other information.  My mistake in this morning’s post.

Folks, it may have been my first mistake of the day (I honestly do not remember) but it was not my last!  Did get my license renewed in under five minutes.  The photo is just. . . .

THURSDAY, 3/15/12

The funeral service for Christie Wynn’s brother will take place this morning at 10:00 from the Serenity Funeral Home.  Pray for the Morgan family.

Pray as Anna Carol travels to Birmingham today to consult with the doctors there about her condition.  As I understand it, they will drive up and back home today.

Larry Thompson and Morris Dupont both were discharged from the hospital.

Laurie Chandler’s mother-in-law passed away early yesterday morning.  Pray for the family.

Miss Lucine Bryant remains hospitalized but is doing good.  She will be there for another couple of days.

The yard sale for the ministry portion of Bro. Jerry’s trip takes place today through Saturday noon.  There will be a silent auction all the way through until the regular auction which begins at 6:00PM on Saturday.

Someone told me they did not get the attachments on the e-letter that was sent Tuesday night.  Bro. Chris tells me that everything was on one page i.e. there were no attachments.  He says that attachments can get blocked so he does not send them.  Make sure to scroll down to view all of the document.  There should be four different items – the letter, an affiliation agreement, office relocation Q&A, and El Salvador Q&A.  If you have any problems, contact Bro. Chris at chris@friendshipfamily.net.

So Kim French tells me last night that she should get Jason Husband to remind her husband, David, of when his driver’s license is going to expire.  That is when it hit me like a ton of bricks – you big dummy, your license expired on Tuesday!  At least I have a sixty day grace period  according the state’s website.  I like grace!

Wow, MSU & Ole Miss bowed out of the NIT quickly.  I am still afraid Bama is going to do the same in the NCAA tourney.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.
