SATURDAY, 6/30/12

Betty Carol’s surgery is scheduled for Monday morning, 7/2, at 11:00AM.   Pray for her as she remains hospitalized over the weekend.

It is a holiday weekend and we do have folks out of town.  I encourage every member of the Friendship family who is in town to be present for the services tomorrow.  We are on a regular schedule.  Be found faithful!

On Wednesday, 7/4, the church office will be closed and there will be no services, Bible studies, et cetera.

FRIDAY, 6/29/12

Rita Vice called and left a messages last night saying that the doctor has decided that Kevin’s sister, Betty Carol, must have an amputation.  It is most likely that surgery will take place on Monday but it could happen this weekend.  The risk of the infection spreading is just too great and her wound will not heal.  Pray for Betty Carol.

Visited with Tommy Johnson’s dad yesterday.  He was set to be discharged from the hospital and go home under hospice care.  He is physically weakened.  Pray for Mr. Gussie and the family.

It appears that Christian Brinkman will be discharged from the hospital on Monday.

My nephew, Cody Smallwood, will have knee surgery today.  The doctor seems to think this will put an end to any physical activity that involves running.  Cody is 20 years of age so this has been hard for him to accept.

I was not totally surprised by the Supreme Court’s decision yesterday but I was surprised by Judge Roberts.

So much of the United States is in need of rain including almost all of Alabama.  The wildfires in the West are wreaking havoc.  My friends in Michigan are sweltering in temps that are touching 95 – 100 degrees as they just are not used to that type of weather.

We have a few spots open on our upcoming young adult GRACE Ministries to Guatemala.  Any young adult interested should contact me today or sooner.

Our Finance Committee will present a proposed budget this Sunday with a meeting at 4:00PM and a vote in the evening service.

Joe David Bailey has inquired about the possibility of Morris and me appearing at Danville Baptist.  No go unless he can get Willard, Jason, & Adam to pledge/give $2,000 each as a starting point.  The money has to be in our account beforehand.

Bama had no players taken in the NBA draft last night.  No surprise.  Kentucky had six players taken – wow!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.  If Betty Carol has surgery then I will post an update whenever that happens.  Otherwise, it will most likely be Monday before I post again.   (Just a heads up to my four readers!)

THURSDAY, 6/28/12

Tommy Johnson’s dad was taken to the hospital last night.  He is battling cancer and is not doing well at all.  Scott Wescovich told me after the service last night that they think he may be dehydrated.  Bro. Jerry went to the house yesterday to pray with him.

Betty Carol Neal is in a local hospital battling another infection.

Christian Brinkman remains hospitalized.

John Whalen’s uncle passed away Tuesday night.  John’s family lives in the UP.  Pray for them during this time.

Palmer Lavelle did well through is surgery.

It will be interesting to hear the Supreme Court’s ruling on health care today.

Since yesterday’s/last night’s services, the requests are pouring in for Morris & me to resume our acting careers and take our show on the road.  Not so fast my friend!  The money will have to be right and I am not sure we could work all of the requests into our schedules.  We are considering a booking agency like Dale and Carla have.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 6/27/12

Palmer Lavelle will have a surgical procedure as an outpatient this morning.  Our youngest grandchild, Lizzi, will also have an outpatient procedure this morning.  Pray all goes well in both of these cases.

Summer McGriff had a myelogram yesterday in preparation for an upcoming surgery.  This has not been an easy road for Summer.

Spoke to Ted Ezell via the phone yesterday and he is doing okay.  May come home on Saturday.

As far as I know, Christian Brinkman remains hospitalized.

Bro. Chris told me yesterday that there are openings for the student camp this Summer.  If you need more information, contact him.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  I hope to see many members of the Friendship family in attendance.

The BCS will be dead soon.  Will the new four team playoff resolve all of the conflict?  In my opinion, it will as long as Alabama is always one of those four teams!  (I think Ross Hatcher shares the same opinion!)

I pray your Wednesday is great with Jesus!

TUESDAY, 6/26/12

Christian Brinkman is in a local hospital as he suffered some burns a few days ago.  It appears he has some surgery ahead of him.  Pray for his recovery.

Our Finance Committee meets tonight with hopes of finishing the proposed budget for the church year which begins on August 1.

Many thanks to Danny Lewis, Bobby Broome, and Charles Clark for taking care of the huge oak limb that decided to park in our parking lot over the weekend.  They made quick work of getting rid of it and I appreciate their efforts.

We are on a regular schedule tomorrow with the morning service at 10:00AM and the evening activities beginning at 7:00PM.

I do not watch much baseball but I did watch most of the CWS game last night.  I was in hopes the SEC could win another NCAA championship but Arizona was just too much for USC.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 6/25/12

Someone checked on me over the weekend to make certain that I was okay since I did not post an entry Friday or Saturday.  Yes, I am fine.  It is nice to know that at least one of the four readers (we actually picked up one) cares!

Our Sunday was not where I hoped it would be but it was significantly better than the previous two Sundays in regard to attendance.  Obviously, it is Summer and we have folks who are “out of pocket” but there are plenty of us at home each Sunday to more than fill the house.  Thank you to those who are faithful!

The adult choir did a nice job of ministering in our service last night.  That was different but it was a good different!  The obvious highlight of the evening service was Wes Holifield’s public profession of faith.  God gives the increase and we give Him the glory!

John M. Ladnier, Jr., Kenny Lingle, and Carl Ray Moulds were selected by the Friendship family to minister as deacons beginning August 1.  Pray for these men as they join Herbert Benefield, Bill Kendrick, Rob Nevin, Max Peacock, Bernard Suthoff and Larry Whitehurst.

I am not going to try and list those who are hospitalized until I get updates today.  I know that Melissa Brown’s grandmother came home from the hospital.

GRACE Ministries now has a director for the feeding center to be built in Guatemala.  He will assume his duties on December 1, 2012.  We believe this is God’s man for this position and he feels the same way.  We give God the glory!

The okra patch calls!  I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 6/21/12

The arrangements for Miss Kittie’s sister-in-law, Lee, are as follows – visitation tonight, 6/21, from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS.  Graveside service tomorrow morning, 6/22, at 10:00AM from the Grand Bay Cemetery.  Keep praying for Miss Kittie and the family.

Linda Green’s brother, Clay, has been in a local ICU for some time now.  He is now on dialysis and had a surgical procedure yesterday.  Pray for him as he is not doing well.

Tommy Johnson’s mother may be discharged from the hospital today.

The Friendship family hosts the men from the mission tomorrow night, 6/22, beginning at 7:00PM.  This will be a fish fry event and you are asked to bring a side dish, drink, and dessert.  You are invited to attend this service but even if you cannot attend it would be great if you would help with the food.

Our team in Guatemala travels home today.  Pray for everything to go well in their travels.  Everyone should be at the Mobile and/or Birmingham airports by 3:30PM.  We have had a good week.

I pray that you will have a good Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 6/20/12

Infant Eli Nelson remains hospitalized.  Brittney was discharged from the hospital but was given a room so she can be with Eli.

Tommy Johnson’s mother is hospitalized again.  She is battling pneumonia.

Miss Kittie Camp’s sister-in-law, Lee, passed away yesterday afternoon.  Miss Kittie and Miss Lee were much more than sisters-in-law.  They were very close with Miss Kittie visiting Lee on a regular basis.  The arrangements are incomplete at this time but I do ask that you pray for Miss Kittie and this family.

I remind you of the need to help minister to the men from the mission this Friday night.  Simply bring a side dish, drink, or dessert to the CAB by 7:00PM.  It will be a fish fry.  Call the church office if you need more information.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  I pray the members of the Friendship family will be faithful.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 6/19/12

Infant Eli Nelson will most likely be in the hospital until this weekend but his mother, Brittney, will probably be discharged today.

The Friendship family goes to the Mission of Hope on the fourth Friday of each month in order to conduct a service.  Bro. Kenny Lingle leads this ministry.  This Friday, 6/22, Bro. Kenny has scheduled the men from the mission to come to us rather than us going to them.  So, there will be fish fry and a service.  We need your help – side dishes, desserts and drinks are needed for this fellowship/service.  You are asked to bring them to the church no later than 7:00PM.  All of the church family is invited to join this service.  Questions?  Contact the church office or Bro. Kenny personally.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 6/18/12

Eli Nelson made his grand appearance into this world yesterday morning, 6/17, at 8:59AM.  He checked in weighing 7 pounds and is 21 inches long.  Ethan & Brittney are proud first time parents.  It was a long labor for Brittney but mother and son are doing well now.  Congratulations to Ethan & Brittney!

Barbara Kelley was discharged from the hospital.  Gunnar Howell was also discharged from the hospital.  Keep praying for Barbara and Gunnar.

I heard that we were down in attendance yesterday in our services.  That disappoints me.  However, I am very thankful to each person who was faithful to attend.  I know Bro. Johnny did a good job of sharing the Word.

As you know, I am in Guatemala this week.  I am blogging on the GRACE blog each evening.  Lord willing, we will return home on Thursday afternoon.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
