TUESDAY, 7/31/12

I was going to ask if someone could tell me where July, 2012 went but the real question is where has 2012 gone?  Wow!

Visited with Bobby, Deidra, and McKinley yesterday morning.  Everyone is doing well.  Praise the Lord!

Summer McGriff was discharged from the hospital on Saturday morning.  She is doing so much better this time as the pain meds have helped.  Pray that this surgery will be the answer.

Yesterday was Jennings Brewer’s 87th birthday.  He is in a facility in Mississippi so I drove up yesterday afternoon to visit with him.  We had a nice visit and he asked that I send his greetings to the members of the Friendship family.

I assume that Bro. Chris and the students made it to camp safely yesterday.  As you know, I live by the “no news is good news” philosophy and I have not heard anything so that must be good.  Pray for them to have a good week.

Went to Chick-fil-A on Schillinger yesterday and purchased chicken sandwiches for our Wednesday night young adult Bible study.  I spoke with two of the managers and they are expecting a large crowd tomorrow.  If you are going to support them tomorrow, you might want to consider going during the “off” hours.  (Do you think the sandwiches I bought yesterday will still be good tomorrow night?)

IMO, tomorrow is a good day in Alabama as the no texting while driving ban takes effect.  The fines are not stiff but losing the points on your driver’s license could be real tough.  Personally, I would favor no cell phone usage at all while driving.  I might even favor no cell phones period!

The weather begs to differ but college football is almost here!  My favorite time of the year!  (Are the Michigan fans getting nervous?)

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 7/30/12

We were blessed with another good day in our services yesterday.  It was a joy to see Ricky Lyons pray to receive Jesus as his personal Savior during last night’s invitation.  God gives the increase and we give Him the glory!

It appears that our children had a good day yesterday with all of the activities Bro. Benny had taking place for them.  Thanks to all who helped.

Our students leave for Wild Week this morning.  Pray for traveling mercies and then for them to have a spiritual time at camp.  Pray for Bro. Chris as he leads them.

It was great to see Ted Ezell and Jerry Whitmore in our services yesterday.  I am impressed that Bro. Jerry is recovering so quickly from his knee replacement surgery of last Monday.

Gotta go think about my Chick-fil-A order for this Wednesday!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

McKINLEY ARLENE CRAWLEY IS HERE!

McKinley Arlene Crawley made her grand appearance into this world last night at 7:30PM.  She checked in weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces and is 21 inches long.  Mother, Deidra, and McKinley are doing great as is father, Bobby.  I am sure that the grandparents, Tyrone and Jodi, are doing great too!  Congratulations to Bobby & Deidra!

Karen McGriff e-mailed to say that Summer is doing good in her recovery.  Keep praying.

Jerry Whitmore was discharged from the hospital yesterday.  Pray as he recovers at home.

The final GRACE team of the Summer return home safely yesterday afternoon.  Thanks for praying.

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday.  Lord willing, I will be preaching in all of our services.  Looking forward to it!

I think I will go make a purchase at Chick-fil-A today!

THURSDAY, 7/26/12

Summer McGriff underwent another surgery yesterday morning.  I apologize for failing to mention that in yesterday’s entry.  Jeanette Bates went to the hospital to be with Mac & Karen during the procedure.  I appreciate her doing that.  Summer did well through the surgery and remains hospitalized.

Jerry Whitmore should be discharged today according to an e-mail I received from Gloria yesterday.

Amy Huhn’s mother will be meeting with the doctors in early August to discuss a couple of new spots that have shown up on her tests.  Pray for her.

Lord willing, I will arrive home this afternoon from Guatemala.  We have had a blessed week.  Special thanks to all who have helped in any way during my absence.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 7/25/12

It is my understanding that Bro. Jerry Whitmore is doing well in his recovery.  Keep praying for him.

As always, we want to keep praying for those who are battling cancer.  Carla Kyser often comes to my mind as I pray for this group.

I have not heard from Edna regarding her brother, Henry, so I assume there is no drastic change one way or the other.  Keep praying.

We are on a regular schedule today with the morning service at 10:00AM and the evening activities at 7:00PM.

I pray you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

Bro. Jerry Whitmore’s surgery went well.  He will remain in the hospital for a few days and then will continue his rehab at home.

I appreciate the members of the Friendship family who attended either the visitation or service for Mr. Frank Boykin yesterday.  I ask that you continue to pray for Marisa and the family.

We are on a regular schedule for tomorrow.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 7/23/12

It is my understanding that we had good attendance in both of our morning services.  As Pastor, that makes me grateful to the folks who showed spiritual maturity by being faithful regardless of whether the pastor was present or not.  Thank you!

I appreciate Morris Bryant teaching Sunday School in my absence and Bro. Jerry Hovel preaching.

Bro. Jerry Whitmore will have knee replacement surgery this morning.  Pray that everything will go well.  He has been putting this on the back burner for some time now and Miss Gloria decided to force the issue.  Way to go Miss Gloria!

The visitation with the Frank Boykin family will take place today from 11:00AM until the 1:00PM service time.  Everything will take place from First Baptist Church.  Keep praying for the Boykin family.

It is going to be very interesting to see what actions the NCAA takes against Penn State today.  These are certainly uncharted waters.  Regardless of the actions, those folks who were violated can never erase that horrible chapter in their respective lives.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
