FRIDAY, 11/30/12

Visited with Joe Povilonis yesterday morning.  The visitation with the family will take place from 10:00AM until noon at Gilmer’s Funeral Home in Mobile.  The graveside service will take place in Serenity Memorial Gardens in Theodore as soon as the family arrives from Gilmer’s Funeral Home.  Please note that there will not be a service at Gilmer’s Funeral Home.  Pray for the Povilonis family.

Miss Bryant was expecting to be discharged from the hospital yesterday.  John Curl’s mother has been placed in a regular room.  Lisa Thompson will have a biopsy today.  Neal Holmes went for tests yesterday.

Members of the Friendship family can send Christmas cards to one another through the LMCO post office beginning this Sunday.  You can also order the poinsettia plants.

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday morning and evening.  Deacons meet with me at 4:00PM in my office.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 11/30/12

Kevin Vice told me last night that his sister, Betty Carol, is doing really well.  Pray that her wound will heal properly and that she will soon get her prosthetic leg.

Morris Bryant’s mother is in the hospital – I think.  Brianne Woods told us last night that she either was in the hospital or was not in the hospital.  So, we have that much figured out.  (I do think Miss Bryant is in the hospital but should come home today)

The funeral service for Joe’s brother takes place Saturday at 12:00PM preceded by two hours of visitation with the family.

We had a good day in all of our services  with one exception.  The attendance in our morning service was good, the CAB was buzzing with students shortly before 7:00PM and the fellowship hall seemed fairly busy.  When I walked into the auditorium for the 7:00PM service I thought the rapture had taken place!  We had about as many in the morning service as we did last night which is unusual.  I settled down a bit when I realized that Larry Whitehurst, Bernard Suthoff, and Katie Tillman were not there as I knew then the rapture had not happened!   I seriously thought that maybe we had called that service off and I did not get the memo!

The LMCO post office is open for members of the Friendship family.

Poinsettias can be ordered until Wednesday, 12/12.

We are on a normal schedule this Sunday morning and evening.  Our deacons will meet with me at 4:00PM.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 11/28/12

Word came to me this morning that Joe Povilonis’ brother, Mike, passed away earlier today.  I will post the arrangements once they have been completed.

The funeral service for Virginia Morris’ father will take place at 10:00AM today so pray for the Rivera family.

Saw Carla Kyser yesterday and she is getting better.  Once she has gotten over the side effects of this new treatment she will try again.  Keep praying for her.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  Hope to be joined by many members of the Friendship family.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus!

TUESDAY, 11/27/12

The funeral service for Virginia Morris’ father will take place tomorrow morning at 10:00AM in Des Moines, Iowa.  A visitation with the family takes place tonight.  Pray for the Rivera family.  I do not know when Steve & Virginia will be returning home but pray for their safety in travel as well.

Betty Carol Neal was in treatment when I visited yesterday morning but I was able to visit with Rita & Mark.  Rita called late yesterday afternoon to say that Betty Carol will be discharged from the hospital today and will be staying with Kevin & Rita for the time being.  My prediction is that after a few days with “Sergeant” Rita, Betty Carol will be doing all she can to get well so she can leave!  I do not know what she did to make the doctor mad at her – LOL!

Attempted to see John Curl’s mother but she is in ICU and I could not find any of the family.  It was not visiting hours and they were most likely gone to lunch.  Pray for John’s mother.

Lisa and I were blessed to have my Mama, my Aunt Alice from Michigan, my sister-in-law, Sue, from China, and my first cousin, Rachel Crouch, and her family from Ellisville, MS join us for supper and a visit last night.  That was the first time Aunt Alice and Rachel have been to our house.  We are thankful for the family time.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/26/12

We were blessed with a good day in our services yesterday.  Although we had a significant number of folks out of town, we still had a good attendance in the early service and a really strong attendance in the evening service.  Our 10:30AM service as down a bit.  Thank you for being faithful!

It is a joy to welcome Virginia Easterling back to the Friendship family by transfer of letter.

I do not have an update on the funeral services for Virginia Morris’ father.  Perhaps I will hear something today.  Pray for the Rivera family.

Betty Carol Neal remains hospitalized.  I plan to visit her this morning.  I will then go to another hospital to visit John Curl’s mother.

Brenda Timberlake’s sister, Lisa, will meet with the doctors today to determine the next course of action in her battle against cancer.  Keep praying for Carla Kyser, Millie Spiller and Neal Holmes as well in their respective battles against cancer.

Folks interested in purchasing a poinsettia to be placed in the auditorium on Sunday 12/16 and 12/23 must submit their order by Wednesday, 12/12.  The cost is $9 per plant and the check must be attached to the order form.  Order forms will be in the foyer of the auditorium.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

VIRGINIA MORRIS’ DAD

Virginia’s dad passed away last night.  Steve & Virginia did not get any sleep last night so they will leave early in the morning to drive to Iowa.  Pray for them during this time and pray for traveling mercies.

FRIDAY, 11/23/12

I basically did not leave the back forty yesterday so I do not have an update on any of the folks for whom we have been praying.

Yesterday was a very quiet day around the Turrentine house.  We were blessed by a surprise visit from Louise Mason of Arkansas.  (She was with Caroline Ford and they were looking for gas money to go shopping today or something like that!)  It is always good to see Louise!

I did watch some NFL games and the college game.  Watching the Cowboys go down in defeat and reading that the Jets were blown away was good news for me.

I am flying solo this morning as my crew left around midnight to shop – that is crazy!  I shopped around 10:00PM and bought some needed tools for GRACE Ministries.  It was not crowded at all as I sat at the kitchen counter and used my computer.  Home Depot will ship the things I purchased from them and I will drive to Lowe’s at some point to pick up the ones that I bought from them.  (Special thanks to Al for making all of this possible!)

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday.  Lord willing, I will be present for all three services.  Hope to see many members of the Friendship family in attendance.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Betty Carol Neal had another toe surgically removed yesterday.  The surgeon was pleased with the blood flow which is a good sign.  Pray for Betty Carol.

Marisa sent me an e-mail to share that Carla has been very sick as a side effect of her new medication.  Pray for Carla as she is losing weight that she really cannot afford to lose.

The church office is closed today.  However, I will be at home enjoying family and am available in case of an emergency.  Call 445-5416 and leave a voice mail which will then come to me via e-mail.

“O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.” (Psalm 95:1-3)

WEDNESDAY, 11/21/12

Sorry about not posting for the past two days.  Was traveling on Monday and did not turn my computer on until too late yesterday.  Lots of info today.

Betty Carol Neal will have surgery this morning.  This is a repeat of the same procedure she had last week when she had the problems during surgery.

Brenda Timberlake’s sister, Lisa, has been battling cancer for a couple of years and has been getting good reports after her treatments.  However, yesterday she got a less than desirable report that showed some new spots.  Pray for Lisa and her family.

Neal Holmes was diagnosed with cancer on September 28.  I did not know about this until yesterday morning and I visited with Carolyn and Neal.  The prognosis is not good as he is under hospice care.

Miss Edith Kelley is scheduled to be released from the rehab center on Monday.  She is a happy camper.  I was able to visit with Miss Edith, Miss Exie Woods, and Merwyn Gunter yesterday morning.  (Merwyn was asleep)

Millie Spiller looked/sounded better yesterday than she has in several weeks.  As a matter of fact, she removed her oxygen apparatus the entire time I was visiting.

I made another visit yesterday with someone who is battling an affliction and simply ask that you pray for this unspoken request.

Mark Mast and his team of 22 Canadians and 2 Minnesotans are traveling home from Guatemala today.  Actually, they will spend the night in Minneapolis tonight and drive home tomorrow.  Pray for traveling mercies on this busiest travel day of year in the US.

There are no services/activities today or tonight at Friendship.  However, we are on a regular schedule this Sunday, 11/25, and I will be preaching, Lord willing, in all three services.

The church office will close at noon today and will remain so until Monday morning at 8:00AM.  However, I am in town (except for Saturday) and am available should an emergency arise.  You can reach me by calling 445 5416 and leaving a voice mail as it goes directly to my e-mail.

I will not be sending a letter today as it is a short week.  Just a FYI.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
