FRIDAY, 11/16/12

Betty Carol Neal has made some improvement.  Keep praying for her.

Around 270 senior adults attended the Thanksgiving meal yesterday.  Again, a big “thank you” to all who helped in any way.

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday morning.  There will be no evening activities at the church due to the community Thanksgiving service at the Methodist Church.  You are encouraged to attend that service.

Also, we will not have any services next Wednesday, 11/21, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 11/15/12

We are having internet connection issues in the mission house.  I cannot access my e-mail account.  However, I did see enough of an e-mail from Mary Cook yesterday telling me that her father-in-law had passed away.  That is all I know at this point.  Pray for the Cook family.

Just caught enough of an e-mail to know that Kevin Vice’s sister, Betty Neal, is in ICU.  Something went wrong during a procedure.  Pray for Betty Carol and her family.

Pray for the Thanksgiving meal taking place today.

Going to see if I can get this entry to send.  We have a call into Al to see if he can get the problem corrected!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/13/12

Sara Nell Moulds is asking for “all hands on deck” to help with the Thanksgiving meal for the senior adults which takes place this Thursday, 11/15, beginning at 10:00AM.  All available workers are asked to be in the CAB at 9:00AM.  Thank you in advance for your help!

I appreciate those who attended the visitation and/or service for Miss Linda Jackson’s niece yesterday.  Keep praying for that family as they walk through this valley.

Happy 56th (I think) wedding anniversary to my parents today.  I am grateful for the example of commitment shown to me by my parents.

If you want to keep up with the GRACE team presently serving in Guatemala, click on the GRACE blog.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/12/13

I had a good number of folks express their positive thoughts regarding the services yesterday morning.  It was an honor to recognize our charter member, Miss Lillian Brinkman, and then to recognize the Veterans in attendance.  I thank God for our charter members and I am very thankful for our military personnel.

It was a blessing to see Darren Felps come forward in last night’s invitation to seek membership by baptism.  He has been coming faithfully for the past couple of months.  Hopefully, we will observe the ordinance of baptism in early December.

Miss Linda Jackson’s niece, Karen, passed away very unexpectedly last week.  The visitation with the family will take place this morning from 10:00AM until the noon service time.  Everything will take place from the chapel of the Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore.  Pray for this family.

Carla Kyser will begin a new medicine but there is one hitch.  The medicine is very, very expensive and Carla’s co-pay is out of this world.  Pray that they can get the co-pay lower to a reasonable amount.

This will be a big week for our senior adult ministry as the Friendship family will host the annual Thanksgiving meal for the senior adults of Southwest  Mobile County.  That takes place on Thursday, 11/15, beginning at 10:00AM.  If you want to help with this ministry opportunity, call the church office.

Lisa and I are on our way to Guatemala so I am typing this post from the Gulfport airport.  This team will consist of 52 folks from Canada, Alabama, Mississippi, and Michigan.  Pray that our week of ministry will be blessed.

Lord willing, I will be posting on this blog plus the GRACE blog daily.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 11/9/12

I have been asked by a number of folks about Wednesday’s earthquake in Guatemala.  Yes, there were a number of lives lost and several thousand homes were destroyed.  However, in the town of Chimaltenango all is well.  The mission house and apartment complex were both without any structural damage.

As far as I know, there has been no significant change in any of the folks we have been listing on our prayer list.  Lisa and I visited with Miss Millie yesterday afternoon and attempted to see Bro. Robbie but he was not at home.

I failed to mention that Judy Benefield’s son, Chris, is in a local hospital.  They were doing more tests yesterday.

They tell me that Myrtle did an excellent job of sharing during the women’s meeting last night.  I saw the display she put together and it was very nice.

We will recognize our charter members this Sunday morning, 11/11, during our morning services as today marks the 65th anniversary of the Friendship family.  God is good!

We will also recognize all veterans this Sunday morning as we remember this special day in the life of our country.  Thank God for the men and women of our military – past and present.

Sunday is a significant day in the life of the Turrentine family as Lizzi celebrates her first birthday!  She was born 11/11/11 at 11:16AM!  Happy birthday Lizzi!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 11/8/12

Carla Kyser received a really good report from the doctor yesterday.  She now moves to another treatment option with this new doctor.  We thank God for His goodness to Carla.

Mike Perez from Guatemala was moved to a different hospital yesterday and surgery was performed.  The surgeon was Paul & Cristy’s son.  Surgery went well and they will now treat Mike with medications.

We had a good day in our services yesterday/last night.  Kirk & Michelle Lightfield from Guatemala were our guests in all three of our services.  Kirk did a nice job of sharing about the work there.  By the way, I appreciate Bro. Jerry & Miss Gloria Whitmore for hosting Kirk & Michelle.

Jim & Glenda Chinners did a very good job of preparing the meal for last night.  I appreciate them!  I also appreciate each person who participated in the meal.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 11/7/12

Miss Edith Kelley was moved into a rehab facility where she will be for the next twenty one days.  Pray that the rehab works well for her and pray for Mr. J.B. too.

Bro. Robbie was discharged from the hospital yesterday.  He still has a ways to go in order to get over this pneumonia so keep praying for him.

Carla Kyser will get the results of her latest tests today.  Pray that this new group of medical personnel can find a treatment that will be effective for Carla.

America has spoken by her vote yesterday.  I have the same feeling that I had in 1992 – cannot explain why but just do.  I do know that God is in charge and I will continue to trust Him.

There will be a GRACE meal served tonight beginning at 5:30PM.  The serving will stop at 6:40PM.  Folks who take part in this meal are expected to attend the 7:00PM service unless they were a part of the 10:00AM service.  If you have not purchased a ticket but plan on eating, please help us by calling the church before 11:00AM today.  We want to have plenty of food but not an abundance.  All proceeds help our high school/college age young adults take part in a mission trip next Summer.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  I pray that many members of the Friendship family will be present.

TUESDAY, 11/6/12

What an important day in the life of our country!  I strongly encourage everyone to go vote at some point today.  I hope that the followers of Jesus will be prayed up as they go cast their ballot.  Those voting at Friendship will do so in the CAB.

Visited Bro. Robbie in the hospital yesterday morning.   He seemed to be some better.  A doctor came into the room and I dismissed myself so I really did not get an update.

Bro. Chris and I went by to pray with JoNell Barnes before her surgery.  Bro. Jerry was going to sit with Tony during the actual surgery.

I was out of pocket yesterday and do not have an update on Miss Edith Kelley.  Will know more by tomorrow’s post.

Carla Kyser will not find out her latest test results until tomorrow.  Pray that these new doctors will be able to help her.

Our students/young adults are sponsoring another meal tomorrow night.  We need folks to call the church office by noon tomorrow if they plan on attending.  This helps us to be good stewards of His money.

It is 1:15AM and Bro. Chris and I are driving through Atmore headed home.  (I know texting while driving is against the law.  Does that apply to blogging also?  LOL!)  We took care of a couple of ministry related things before attending the revival service at Danville Baptist Church.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.  Go vote!

MONDAY, 11/5/12

We enjoyed a good day in our services yesterday.  Chrissy Fawcett made a public profession of faith during our 6:00PM service.  She had met with Bro. Chris last Monday afternoon.  We thank God for His blessings.

Bro. Robbie remains in the hospital.  They will do some more testing today.  Pray for him.

Miss Edith Kelley is going to be moved to a rehab facility for twenty one days.  I do not know if that is going to happen today or tomorrow but do ask that you keep praying for her.

Darrell & Betty McMann’s son, Brian, was discharged from the hospital yesterday.

JoNell Barnes will be having surgery today around noon.  Pray that all goes well.

Bro. Chris and I will be driving to Danville, Alabama today in order to attend a revival service.  I need to make stops in Montgomery and Birmingham on the way up.  The evangelist at Danville is someone that I want both Chris and me to hear.  We will return home early in the morning.

I encouraged every registered voter to vote tomorrow.  Pray for this election.

I watched the Bama vs LSU game again last night and Bama won by the same score as on Saturday night.  I was also watching the Cowboys vs the Falcons and was more than okay to see the Cowboys lose again.  I know that Joe David Bailey thinks pro football is better than college football but he is so wrong!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 11/3/12

Visited with Bro. Robbie, Brian McMann & Miss Edith Kelley in the hospitals yesterday and attended the service for Miss Opal Scull.

Bro. Robbie is not feeling well at all.  As a matter of fact, he told me that he now does not know when he will go home.  He looks like he feels bad.  If you should decide to visit him in the hospital, I would recommend that your visit be very brief.  I have always lived by the philosophy that sick folks do not need to entertain company.

Brian McMann remains in ICU.  He had an oxygen mask on and was about to eat lunch so he could not speak a lot to me.  I have not talked to Betty to get an update.

Miss Edith Kelley does not feel well either.  We had a good conversation but she is not real chipper and rightfully so.

I appreciate those members of the Friendship family who attended the service for Miss Opal.  Pastor Tim Cauley did a nice job of sharing the Word.

Do not forget to set your clocks “back” (example – from 10:00PM back to 9:00PM) before going to bed tonight.  This leads to my favorite regular Sunday of the year as folks can gain an hour of rest before attending church.

I ask our deacons to remember their meeting at 4:00PM tomorrow.

Got to go do some mowing and then will, Lord willing, watch some college football on television.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.
