SUNDAY, 6/30/13

Happy seventh wedding anniversary to Brad & Daphne.  (Wow, going back in mind to that Summer brings back many memories)

Evangelist David Miller will be our guest in all three of our services today.  If you are in town, please do not miss these services!  I heard Bro. David preach a brief message yesterday afternoon.  It was good to see/hear him.

The team going to Guatemala with Bro. Jerry (7/11 – 7/18) will be meeting immediately following tonight’s service.  They will meet in the choir room.

Alisha Vice is engaged.  It is now official as she finally put it on her blog.  (FB does not count!)  I have a couple of reservations but the biggest is that she posted a picture of the guy and he is wearing an Ole Miss cap – yuk!  Congratulations to Matt & Alisha!  (If Matt only knew Rita . . .)

Tom & Shari Compagner arrived at the house on Friday afternoon.  Bro. Johnny hosted a surprise event for Miss Judy yesterday and they came to attend.  The only downer is that Lisa is not at home.  However, Tom being here help lessen my pain of Lisa not being here.  What?  I hit the garden shortly before 6:00AM yesterday to pick peas and okra.  Soon thereafter, Tom came out by the pool, spoke to me over the fence, and then sat poolside reading a book.  Yes, it was just like having Lisa at the house in some ways!  BTW, Bobby Broome did feel sorry for me and came over to plow the area where the corn used to stand.  Thanks, Bobby!

I pray that you will attend church today and will have a great Sunday with Jesus.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR STEVE MAYFIELD

The visitation with the Steve Mayfield family will take place on Tuesday, July 2, from 12:00PM until the 2:00PM service time.  Everything will take place at Serenity Funeral Home.

This is a large family and we are going to need help feeding approximately 75 Mayfield family members after the service on Tuesday.  If you can help, please let us know at church tomorrow or by calling the church office on Monday morning.  Thank you in advance for your ministry to this family.

SATURDAY, 6/29/13

The fish fry and service last night for the men from the Mission of Hope was really good.  I got confused (imagine that!) and did not go into the fellowship hall where the men ate “before” the service.  I am told that there was a mountain of fish left.  Thanks to all who helped in any way with the food.

I was in the CAB for the service.  Dale, Karla, and Jace did an outstanding job of sharing the Gospel through illusions.  The men seemed to enjoy it immensely.  Some men (not sure of the number) were saved last night.  To God be the glory!

Talked to Kathy Ladnier yesterday and her dad’s body had not been released by the hospital.  The family will not make arrangements until the body is released to the funeral home.

Glenda Chinners put a comment on yesterday’s entry that Summer McGriff was released from the hospital yesterday.  That is good.

David Bosarge told me last night that Ralph Rogers is improving as he is beginning to eat.  He remains hospitalized.

Evangelist David Miller from Heber Springs, Arkansas in all three services tomorrow!  Do not miss it!

GRACE trip (7/18 – 25) mandatory meeting tomorrow night immediately following the service.

Lisa and the girls remain out of town and are enjoying themselves.  I would be too if Deidra did not act as though I am 13 instead of 53!  She sends me a message last night wanting to know why my garage door was up at 10:20PM?  My reply was simply so “nosey rosey” next door would have something to talk about!  As Bob Spiller used to say regularly, “geesh!”

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 6/28/13

As you know by now, Steve Mayfield passed from this life yesterday.  Again, the arrangements are incomplete at this time.  We will post them here as soon as they are finalized.  Pray for the family.

I visited with Steve, two of his daughters and his two sisters yesterday morning.  You did not need to be a medical expert to realize that Steve’s time on earth was very limited.

Visited with Bethany & Abigail yesterday too.  All is well.

Visited with Summer McGriff late yesterday afternoon.  She has been moved to the L&D wing of the hospital.  She was doing good as was the baby.

Dale & Karla will minister to the men from the Mission of Hope tonight beginning at 7:00PM in the CAB.  I bought the necessary supplies for the fish fry yesterday.  You are invited to attend this service.

Remember, Evangelist David Miller will be our guest in all three services this Sunday, 6/30.  A love offering will be received.  Do not miss hearing Bro. David.

All participants on the 7/18 GRACE trip are required to attend a meeting this Sunday evening immediately following the service.  We will meet in the youth building.  Important!

A guy showed up at my house yesterday morning at 5:30AM looking for a hand out.  I was in the garden so I told him that I would help him out if he would help me pick peas.  Surprisingly, he did.  When we finished around 7:30AM, I gave him some peas, squash, et cetera.  Is that not amazing?

Actually, the guy was Dale Bosarge and he came to help out of an act of kindness.  Soy & Deidra even joined the party.  The part about Dale looking for a hand out is not true but I did share some garden goods with him.  Good stuff.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

STEVE MAYFIELD PASSES FROM THIS LIFE

Around 3:30PM today, Steve Mayfield departed this life.  He literally walked into the hospital a couple of days ago and, obviously, things went down hill from there.  An autopsy will be performed so the funeral arrangements are incomplete.  Pray for the Mayfield family.

THURSDAY, 6/27/13

Steve Mayfield is in ICU.  He is in very serious condition.  Lord willing, I will be checking on him this morning.

Bethany & Abigail Adel Alcantara are doing fine.  (Where did I come up with the name Abby Grace?)

Summer McGriff has been placed back into the hospital.  Do not know if this means she is there until the baby is born or not.

No change in Tanya Love’s condition.

Carla Kyser sees her doctor today.

We had a good day in our services yesterday/last night.  Thank you for being faithful.

Lisa and the girls are out of town for a few days so I appreciate Deidra cooking for the 7:30PM Bible study last night.  She and Brianne Woods did the clean up as well.  I am grateful.

Our church will host the men from the Mission of Hope tomorrow night in the CAB.  Dale & Karla will be sharing the Gospel.  It will be a fish fry as well.  Everything begins at 7:00PM and you are invited to attend.

Please pray for the services this Sunday, 6/30, and make plans to join us to hear Evangelist David Miller.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

ABIGAIL ALCANTARA

Abigail Alcantara made appearance into this world this morning between 7:30 – 8:00AM.  She checked in weighing 7 pounds plus.  Baby, mother, father, and big sister are all doing great!

In my earlier post this morning, I did not know Bethany’s married name.  How stupid is that of me?  (No comments, please!)

WEDNESDAY, 6/26/13

Bethany Hatcher will be admitted to the hospital this morning and will have her baby taken by c-section.  Pray that all goes well.  I think Bethany is having another girl.  If not, it will be a boy!

Bea Unrue’s niece, Cynthia Gates, passed away unexpectedly on Monday.  The visitation with the family will take place this Sunday afternoon, 6/30, from 2:00PM until 5:00PM.  The service will take place on Monday, 7/1, at 10:00AM.  The visitation and service will take place from Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, Alabama.  Pray for the Gates family.

We are on a regular schedule this morning and tonight.  The morning service begins at 10:00AM and the evening activities begin at 6:30PM.  The Bible studies for college students and young adults begin at 7:30PM.  The menu is ham and the trimmings.

I am asking all members of the Friendship family who are in town this weekend to please attend our morning and evening worship services.  It is our joy to host Evangelist David Miller from Heber Springs, Arkansas in all three of our services.

All of the folks taking part in the July 18 – 25 GRACE trip are required to attend a meeting immediately following the evening service this Sunday, 6/30.  (Attendance in the evening service is obviously a must!)

My brother, Eddie, arrived home safe and sound from China yesterday.  That is always good.

Have been hitting the garden morning and evening.  However, yesterday morning Charles demanded that I weed eat in his yard.  He did shell more peas yesterday afternoon and Ann put up another twenty something quarts.  The okra is screaming at me this morning but it may have to wait because of needing to be at the hospital with Bethany.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 6/25/13

Talked to Becky Hatcher yesterday about her mother’s situation.  If she did suffer a stroke, it was a slight one.  There is some confusion and she is supposed to go to rehab.  Pray for her.

Daphne e-mailed me a report written by Courtney Hubbard.  They did not receive good news as the chemotherapy did not work so they will go a different route.

Sanna Collier e-mailed that Chastity is presently out of town but will be back this week in order to ready for her upcoming surgery.

Visited with five residents in the convalescent home yesterday morning and attempted to see two more (Nell Mulkey & Betty Hickman) but they were not in their respective rooms.

Evangelist David Miller will be our special guest this Sunday, 6/30, in all three of our services.  I know we will have some folks out of town but I strongly encourage each member of the Friendship family who is town to be present for these services.  This is an important day in the life of our church.

Hien, Alan, & JC remain in Chile on a mission trip with the BCM of Alabama.  It is cold there and JC lost his phone (per FB, per Soy).  Otherwise, I think they are doing well.  Pray for them.

Bro. Chris & Nicole – the pressure is on!

I have never had much success in growing tomatoes.  However, I think I have found the key – let John Milton Ladnier grow them and then just send Soy over to get a bag full!  That tomato, cheese, and mayonnaise sandwich was just perfect for supper last night!

Dana & Gina got in on the action yesterday as they had to shuck/silk two bushels of corn and then help Soy pull up the corn stalks.  Charles shelled the peas from Saturday.  Soy & I picked almost two more bushels of peas.  Lisa, Deidra, & Daphne put up peas and corn last night.  (Amy, I may send you a picture! LOL!)

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

BECKY HATCHER’S MOTHER

As I was typing the entry for today earlier this morning, I kept thinking that I was leaving someone off the list but I could not make myself think of it.  While I was in the garden, I spent some time praying and it dawned on me that Becky’s mother suffered a possible stroke this past Friday night.  She is in a Hattiesburg, MS hospital.  Pray for her.

I will get an update today from Becky.
