SATURDAY, 1/25/14

Today’s Bible reading – Genesis 50:1 – Exodus 2:10, Matthew 16:13-17:9, Psalm 21:1-13, Proverbs 5:1-6

Sunday’s, 1/26, Bible reading – Exodus 2:11-3:22, Matthew 17:10-27, Psalm 22:1-18, Proverbs 5:7-14

Nikki Burwell remains in a Jackson, MS hospital.  Her husband and mother will go visit her today.  Pray for Nikki and her family as they travel.

Larry Whitehurst called yesterday afternoon to tell me that his brother, Ed, is not doing well.  As a matter of fact, he is real low.  Pray for Ed and his family.

Robert Baria was discharged from the hospital late yesterday afternoon.  They diagnosed his problem – buck fever!  He shot an eight point last Tuesday and took sick on Wednesday.  Actually, he has a severe sinus infection.

Karen Walker was also discharged from the hospital.

Upward basketball today beginning at 8:00AM.

Regular services tomorrow morning and evening.  Baptizing as a part of our evening service.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 1/24/14

Today’s Bible reading – Genesis 48:1-49:33, Matthew 15:29-16:12, Psalm 20:1-9,Proverbs 4:20-27

Nikki Burwell was transported to Jackson, MS early, early yesterday morning.  She underwent a surgical procedure.  The doctors plan on trying to awaken her at some point this afternoon.  It is my understanding that she will be in Jackson for a minimum of ten days.  Keep praying.

Robert Baria was admitted to the hospital Wednesday night.  Thought it was the flu but the test came back negative.  They either did or are going to do a “lumbar stick” (spinal tap) to try and determine the cause of his elevated temperature.

Karen Walker is in the hospital.  She had an apparent stroke but is doing better.

I thought the funeral service for Edwin Blackmon went well.  His family members did great in sharing about him.  Bro. Kerry Kelley and Becky Hatcher did a good job with the music.  The food was plenty.  Pray for Eula Mae and family.

Service at the Mission of Hope tonight at 7:00PM.  Everyone is invited.

The Alabama women’s basketball team upset #8 UK last night.  I am thinking they could beat UA’s or AU’s mens team?  I may write Coach Battle suggesting he give the men’s coaching job to Morris Bryant.  I also may write AD Erdmann suggesting Coach Eric Collier as the new DC for the Jag’s football team.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 1/23/14

Bible reading for today – Genesis 46:1-47:31, Matthew 15:1-28, Psalm 19:1-14, Proverbs 4:14-19

I have no new updates on Nikki Burwell so I am “assuming” that she has not been transported to Jackson yet.  Pray.

The visitation with the Edwin Blackmon family takes place today from 1:00 until 2:00PM (one hour).  The service begins at 2:00PM.  Everything takes place from the Union Baptist Church in Grand Bay.  Pray for Eula Mae and the family as they go through today.

Randall Clark told me last night that his niece (sister’s daughter) had a seizure yesterday.  She is less than one year old.  Everything tested good and she was discharged from the hospital.  However, she still needs prayer as they do not know exactly why this happened.

Jeff Holifield helped with his uncle James’ funeral and did a nice job.

I appreciate Bro. Jerry preaching the two services yesterday.  I only caught the last few minutes of the evening service.

The boss aka Kim French told me after church last night that the sign up sheets for the pictorial directory will be in place this Sunday, 1/26.  As usual, Kim will be skipping church but, thankfully, faithful Karla Cooper will be in charge of the sign up sheets.   We need every family within the Friendship family to participate in this project.

FYI, the Friendship family will be hosting the service at the Mission of Hope tomorrow night beginning at 7:00PM.  Everyone invited.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

A CALL FOR SPECIAL PRAYER

It is 9:30PM on Wednesday night, 1/22.  Betty Creech just called to say that it “appears” they will be transferring Nikki Burwell to a Jackson, MS hospital possibly as early as tonight.  She apparently has a hole in her heart that is beyond what they are able to handle medically here.  Pray for Nikki and her family.

WEDNESDAY, 1/22/14

Today’s Bible reading – Genesis 42:18-43:34, Matthew 13:47-14:12, Psalm 18:16-36, Proverbs 4:7-10

A huge “thank you” to Emily Lundy, Joan Hart and Kayla Hatcher!  Why?  Those three made it possible for Carolyn Blaylock to get moved from the hospital to the convalescent home of Kent & Carolyn’s choice yesterday.  She was going to be moved elsewhere but these ladies moved into action on very short notice – what a tremendous blessing to Kent, Carolyn & family.

Karla & Harper were discharged from the hospital yesterday too.  When I visited late morning they were just sitting and eagerly waiting to get home.  Dale leaves Thursday night for a ministry opportunity.  (BTW, Kayla did not just send super burgers from Sam’s, she also sent some chicken nuggets for Harper!)

Tyler Williams was discharged yesterday as well.  If you thought Dale & Karla were eager to leave the hospital, triple that eagerness and you have Tyler!  He had cabin fever!  Claire was his nurse again.  Each time I see her at the hospital see is pushing a cart, machine or something.  As I was entering Tyler’s room yesterday, she opened the door pushing a cart which hit my leg and caused me great pain.  (Or something like that – LOL!)  Pray for Tyler’s continued recovery.

Nikki Burwell had emergency open heart surgery early, early yesterday morning.  They did a double by pass.  There were some complications and the surgery took a long time.  Pray for Nikki during her recovery.

Miss Ica Pearl Walley was in the hospital yesterday too.  She was thinking that she would be discharged in the afternoon but I do not know if that happened.  Pray for Miss Ica.

The funeral service for Edna’s brother takes place this morning in Laurel, MS.  Lisa and I will be attending and then will visit with my sweet cousin, Rachel, and her family plus will see Lisa’s Aunt Virginia.

I had two appointments last night.  Each appointment involved a young man sharing with me what God was doing in his life and how the revival services impacted him in a positive way.  Wow – what a blessing to this pastor!  Pray that God will use these young men to help flame the fires of revival among the Friendship family.

Regular schedule today/tonight.  Bro. Jerry Hovel will be preaching in the 10:00AM & 7:00PM services.  I hope many members of the Friendship family will attend.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR EDWIN BLACKMON

The visitation with the Edwin Blackmon family will take place this Thursday, 1/23, from 1:00PM until the 2:00PM service time.  The visitation and service will take place from the Union Baptist Church in Grand Bay.  Keep praying for the Blackmon family.

At this time, I am not sure about the feeding of the Blackmon family on Thursday.  Union Baptist is, I think, leading this effort.  Miss Vinnie is in contact with them and will let us know if we need to be involved.

TUESDAY, 1/21/14

Today’s Bible reading – Genesis 42:18-43:34, Matthew 13:47-14:12, Psalm 18:16-36, Proverbs 4:7-10

Edwin Blackmon was promoted to Heaven around 8:00AM yesterday morning.  I did not post anything online before now as the family wanted to notify their out of town family personally before they got word via social media, et cetera.  The arrangements will be finalized today.

Edna’s brother’s arrangements are as follows – visitation with the family tonight from 5:00 – 8:00PM from the Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, MS.  The service takes place tomorrow, 1/22, also from the MCFH.  Pray for the Miller family.

Karla & Harper are doing well and should go home from the hospital today.  Kayla Hatcher is taking care of the meal from our Sunday School class (hope they like Sam’s Superburgers)!

Tyler Williams (Miss Annette’s grandson) was involved in an automobile accident last Friday night.  He had his spleen surgically removed.  He is very sore but will discharged from the hospital as soon as he meets certain criteria.  (Claire Turner was his nurse yesterday and I am sure she was the best nurse yet!)

William & Amber’s daughter was discharged from the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

Carolyn Blaylock remains hospitalized.

Shawn Burwell is in the hospital and Nikki is having a heart cath today, 1/21.

I think the RA games played in the CAB yesterday went well.  I was not able to make it for any of the games.  Thanks to Bro. Chris for handling that ministry.

Pastor Jack Bailey wrote that he had a tomato sandwich for supper last night and asked me to say “thanks” to Charles Grant and Jimmy Tagert.  What PJ does not know is that I have had tomato sandwiches for about five meals since the revival services ended – nothing like them!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 1/20/14

Bible reading for today – Genesis 41:17-42:17, Matthew 13:24-46 ,Psalm 18:1-15 ,Proverbs 4:1-6

We were blessed with good services yesterday morning and evening – to God be the glory!  Joy McDonald did a nice job in the morning services and Jeff Switzer did a great job of preaching in the evening service.  I know that Miss Kathleen is very proud of her grandson.  I have had several folks comment to me since the services about how they were blessed.

A new church directory has now been put on the front burner.  An ad hoc committee consisting of chairperson Kim French, Karla Cooper, Jerry Hovel, Caryn Hyatt, Bill Kendrick, Peggy Knighten and Chris Taylor was appointed and will be leading this effort.  Per the vote of the Friendship family last night, the expenses of this directory will be paid by the church.  Many details forthcoming very soon!  We need each member of the Friendship family to participate in this project.

Another ad hoc committee consisting of chairman Larry Whitehurst, Sammy Bowden, Bobby Broome, Leslie Hacker, Danny Lewis, Terry Lucky and Max Peacock will gather information/bids related to the repairing and/or paving of our parking areas.   In time, they will bring a report to the Friendship family.

I will go ahead and give this disclaimer up front – I do not have my prayer list in front of me so I may unintentionally leave someone off the following list.  If so, I apologize and will correct my error once my list is before me.

Edna Glover’s brother, James Miller of Laurel, MS, passed away yesterday morning.  Arrangements are incomplete but should be finalized this afternoon.

Edwin Blackmon remains in a health care facility and is seemingly very low.  Eula Mae and the girls are with him.

Karla & Harper are doing well.  Dale?  He is Dale!  Davy & Ashley visited yesterday afternoon so I expect we will hear an announcement just any day now!

William & Amber Sessions’ daughter is hospitalized.  Not sure of all of the details.

Carolyn Blaylock remains in the hospital.

Our two RA basketball teams have games in the CAB today.  The older challengers play at 9:00AM & 1:00PM while the younger challengers play at 11:00AM.  If you have the opportunity, go support these guys.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
