FRIDAY, 2/21/14

Today’s Bible reading – Leviticus 11:1-12:8, Mark 5:21-43, Psalm 38:1-22, Proverbs 10:8-9

The biggest news in the Turrentine house in the last twenty four hours is – grandchild #6 is on the way with an anticipated October arrival date.  It is a girl!  How do I know?  That is what we do on this hill – produce girls!  I am about to buy Soy & Brad a television!  Congratulations to Soy & Deidra!

Carolyn Blaylock had a surgical procedure yesterday.  It did not take long but getting her into the actual surgical room took almost all day it seemed.  She did well through the procedure.  Kent was there and seemed to be doing well also.

Doris Perryman was waiting on one more doctor to release her so she could go home.  I am assuming that happened but do not know for certain.

Miss Luthene Herston is ready to go home but she is going to have to go to a rehabilitation center first.  She is not a real happy camper!

Pastor Rodney & Rhona Coleman’s daughter, Lindsay, continues to need our prayer support in her battle against cancer.  I am not sure if she has come home from the New Orleans hospital or not.

Our June 12 – 19 GRACE trip is basically at capacity.  It is going to be a special trip in more ways than one.  If you feel the need to join us, contact me about getting on the waiting list.

Still accepting folks to go to El Salvador the first weekend in May.  Contact me if interested.

The food festival takes place tomorrow evening from 5:00 – 7:00PM in the CAB.  Questions?  Contact Bro. Chris Taylor.

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday, 2/23.  I hope many members of the Friendship family will join us for the services, Sunday School and Discipleship Training.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

P.S. – I have a breakfast meeting with someone from out of town this morning.  It is nobody’s business who I am meeting with or why we are meeting.  We do not want Lisa, Deidra, Myrtle, Cecil, Judy or any other women showing up!  That is all we have to say!

THURSDAY, 2/20/2014

Today’s Bible reading – Leviticus 9:7-10:20, Mark 4:26-5:20, Psalm 37:30-40, Proverbs 10:6-7

We were blessed with a good Wednesday especially in our morning attendance.  That number seems to have grown a little and they are a really great group of folks.  Easy to preach to and always encouraging.  Nice crowd in the evening service too.  God is good!

Miss Doris Perryman remains hospitalized.  She did suffer a stroke but it was not recent per the doctors.  They are doing other tests and the thinking is that she will go home today.

Miss Gail Bishop is Sue Blodgett’s sister and she will be moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation facility.  Not sure if that will take place today or not.

Miss Luthene Herston remains hospitalized and is experiencing pain.  She is going to eventually go to a rehab facility as well.

Carolyn Blaylock may get moved to a rehab facility as early as tomorrow.  She is doing so much better.  What a miracle!

Karla Bosarge’s dad has been diagnosed with cancer.  He begins treatment next week.

Bonnie Clark remains hospitalized as far as I know.

Imelda Davis’ niece, Bobbie Jean Howard, passed away.  This is also Karla Cooper’s aunt by marriage.  The visitation takes place tonight from 5:00 – 8:00PM at the Higher Ground Baptist Church with the service taking place at noon tomorrow.  Pray for the Howard family.

Kirk Lightfield’s mother passed away earlier this week.  She lived in Oklahoma.  Kirk, Michelle, Amanda and Ashley will be flying from Guatemala today in order to attend the service.  Pray for the Lightfield family.

Pastor Ted Traylor will be our special guest on Thursday, March 13, 2014.  Pray!  Attend!  Bring others!

The food festival takes place this Saturday night, 2/22, from 5:00 – 7:00PM in the CAB.  Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

Still looking for folks interested in going to El Salvador the first weekend in May to celebrate the seventh anniversary with The Vine church which is a daughter church of the Friendship family.  As it stands right now, we have four folks committed with tickets in hand.  Interested?  Contact me.

Also need members of the Friendship family to sign up for the November GRACE trip to Guatemala.  You are asked to sign up by March 9, 2014 in order to guarantee your spot on that trip.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 2/19/14

Today’s Bible reading – Leviticus 7:28-9:6, Mark 3:31-4:25, Psalm 37:12-29, Proverbs 10:5

We are on a regular schedule this morning and tonight.  Our 7:30PM Bible study group (older) will receive their new book tonight.  I am told by my sources that the meal (7:30PM group) will be ham, beans and macaroni & cheese.

No significant changes with anyone we have mentioned in the blog lately.  Karla Bosarge’s dad is undergoing testing to determine a health problem.  Pastor Bud Parker (Andy Hamil) had an amputation of part of one leg this past Monday.

Talked briefly to Pastor Ted Traylor yesterday afternoon.  He is set to join us on Thursday, March 13, for a special worship service.  Folks, this will be a most important night in the life of the Friendship family.  It is great to have Pastor Ted but our much larger hope is that God will “show up and show out” (Pastor Jack Bailey) during that service.  All is vain if the Holy Spirit does not come!  Pray!

We have not had a good response to the invitation from Pastor Carlos Portillo and the folks from our daughter church in San Salvador.  As of this morning, the airfare is $453 which is incredible!  (I paid over $800 last October)  I just do not see that fare remaining low for much longer so now is the time to decide!  Do not delay!

I am getting a number of requests from friends outside the Friendship family regarding the sponsorship of the children in Guatemala.  So, if you originally (October ’13) signed up to be a sponsor and have not contacted me this week, please do so immediately.

The airfares are good for our June 12 – 19 GRACE trip too.  We plan on officially dedicating the feeding center during that trip.  Interested?  Contact me yesterday!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 2/18/14

Today’s Bible reading – Leviticus 6:1-7:27, Mark 3:7-30, Psalm 37:1-11, Proverbs 10:3-4

Visited Carolyn Blaylock in the hospital yesterday.  She is doing better and has such a positive outlook.  She looked better, sounded better, and hopes to go to a rehab facility at some point this week.  If so, this is a God thing and she is giving Him the glory!

Kevin Lunsford did well through his surgery.  Liz Whalen has offered an exercise bicycle for him to use in his rehab.  I appreciate each person who made an offer.

Miss Luthene Herston did well through her surgery too.  She also needs rehab and the family is looking for a place in Mobile so she will be close to two of her daughters.

I plan to visit the folks in the convalescent home today as well as see Bill & Bea Unrue.

I heard from some of the folks who signed up in October to sponsor a child from the feeding center in Guatemala.  Are there others?  At this point, not looking for new sponsors but for those who have already signed up.

Also, looking for anyone from the Friendship family interested in joining us on the June 12 – 19 GRACE Ministries trip.  I need to hear from you immediately if not sooner!  If you have already received an e-ticket, no need to contact me.  Otherwise, now is the time.

Bro. Jerry is also leading a GRACE team the dates of July 10 – 17 and has openings.

The July 31 – August 7 trip is basically for young adults only.

The “Friendship Food Festival” takes place this Saturday night, 2/22, from 5:00 – 7:00PM in the CAB.  The cost is $10 per person with a maximum of $40 per immediate family.

Ted Traylor will be our guest preacher on Thursday, March 13!  Pray, promote, attend, and bring others with you.  Folks, do not miss this one!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

A NEED WITHIN THE CHURCH FAMILY

Kevin Lunsford had surgery on his hip this morning, 2/17.  He did well but cannot put any weight on his leg for several weeks.

The doctor says the use of a stationary bicycle is the best therapy he can receive.  Does anyone have one that Kevin can borrow for the next five or six weeks?  If so, would you please remove the clothes from it and contact me?  Thanks in advance!

I will come and get it and take it to Kevin’s house.

Blessings!

TWO GROUPS WHO NEED TO CONTACT ME

First, if you plan on participating in our Thursday, June 12, through Thursday, June 19, 2014 GRACE trip, you need to contact me immediately (as in today) even if you have already signed up.  (This does not apply to those who have already received their e-ticket)  We are actively purchasing tickets.

Second, if you signed up last October to sponsor a child through GRACE Ministries, please contact me this week.  We are in the process of assigning the children to sponsors.  If I do not hear from you this week, I will assume you no longer have an interest in being a sponsor.

The absolute best way to contact me for either of the above reasons is via e-mail.  My cell phone does not receive/send texts.

Time is of the essence in both of these situations!

Blessings!

Sunday, 2/23 – Leviticus 14:1-57 Mark 6:30-56 Psalm 40:1-10 Proverbs 10:11-12

We enjoyed a really good day in our services yesterday.  Obviously, the highlight of the day was seeing Patrick make a public profession of faith in our 10:30AM service.

My compliments to Bro. Chris and the ad hoc committee who got the new video monitors in place – they looked great and were very effective!  Thanks guys and Liz!

Kevin Lunsford will be having surgery today.  It relates to his hip and ligament damage.

Miss Luthene Herston is also scheduled to finally have her surgery today after two postponements.

Bill Unrue is at home.

Oscar Petersen was taken to the ER yesterday morning but was sent home yesterday afternoon.

Imelda Davis’ brother passed away yesterday afternoon.  Arrangements pending.

Joe David & Lori Bailey’s daughter, Josie, is in a Huntsville Hospital.  Of course, this is Pastor Jack & Miss June’s granddaughter.

Pray for all of these needs.

The Friendship Food Festival takes place this Saturday, 2/22, from 5:00 – 7:00PM in the CAB.  Tickets are $10 each.  Contact Bro. Chris for more information.

Pastor Ted Traylor of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida will be our guest preacher on Thursday night, March 13, 2014.  Please mark this date on your calendar and do not let anything keep you from being present for this special service!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 2/15/14

Today’s Bible reading – Exodus 39:1-40:38, Mark 1:1-28, Psalm 35:1-16, Proverbs 9:11-12

There will be a baby shower for Gauge & Mary Cole Holmes tomorrow afternoon from 2:00 – 4:00PM in the church fellowship hall.  Mary is the daughter of Danny & Liz Cole.  Gauge is the grandson of Carolyn Holmes.  It is a boy.  Ladies, please support this shower – I know you will!

Bill Unrue remains hospitalized.  Scott’s surgery was a success.  Miss Luthene did not have surgery.  Bonnie Clark was in discomfort.

The missions committee will meet tomorrow afternoon, 2/16, at 5:00PM in the adult Sunday School building.

The Lord blessed and each member of our most recent GRACE team arrived home yesterday.  I brought up the rear with good and timely flights last night.  God is good!

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.
