MONDAY, 3/31/14 (SECOND EDITION)

Wanted to give a quick update on the folks in the hospitals and a couple of others:

Infant Jack Holmes has been moved from PICU to a regular room.  He is doing really good!

Art Elliott remains in ICU.  They have not seen the doctor today so it is not known when he may go to a room.  As always, Art was in an excellent spirit.  He is such a positive man!

Archie Sprinkle is in a room and “thinks” he “may” go home in a couple of days.  I do not know if that is doctor speak or Archie speak.

James Moore, who works for Donnie & Marisa, had emergency surgery this past Friday night.  He remains hospitalized.  (The bad news is that he is on Claire’s floor.  The good news is that she is not his nurse!  LOL!)

Ginny Easterling had an elevated temperature yesterday but is better today.  Her attitude remains very positive!

Tina Sprinkle had a pretty tough day yesterday but is “better” (I use that term very loosely) today.  (Cannot believe Kevin is making her cook supper!)

William & Amber Sessions are expecting their third child in November.  Wow, “babies are us” may become Friendship’s slogan!  Congratulations to William & Amber!

April 04 Deuteronomy 26:1-27:26, Luke 10:38-11:13, Psalm 76:1-12, Proverbs 12:15-17

April 06 Deuteronomy 29:1-30:20, Luke 11:37-12:7, Psalm 78:1-31, Proverbs 12:19-2

The Lord blessed us with a really good day in our services yesterday.  What a joy to see one join the Friendship family on statement with two others coming for baptism.  Lord willing, we will baptize as a part of this Sunday evening’s service.

Infant Jack Holmes, Art Elliott, and Archie Sprinkle remain hospitalized.  I will get reports on them today.

The 5K run sponsored by our student ministry takes place this Saturday, 4/5, beginning at 8:00AM from the Grand Bay Middle School.  Need more info?  Bro. Chris Taylor is the man! (If you cannot reach Bro. Chris, contact Jason Taylor!)

A men’s breakfast is set for this Saturday, 4/5, beginning at 8:00AM in the fellowship hall.  Need more info?  Contact Jeff Holifield or Jim Chinners.

Our high school and college students taking part in a mission trip this Summer will host a “to go” meal this Sunday, 4/6.  The menu consists of chicken parmesan with spaghetti, green beans, bread and dessert.  The cost is $6 with all proceeds going toward the cost of the students’ trip.  Meals will be available immediately following Sunday School for those who attend the 8:00AM service and then after the 10:30AM service for all others.

My bracket is done!  I finished at 38 – 25 regardless of what happens from this point forward!  I am happy that the SEC has two teams in the Final Four.  If I had to pick today, I would not pick against UK – what a class of freshmen!  (FWIW, I finished first in my pool!)

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 3/30/14

Today’s Bible reading – Deuteronomy 13:1- 15:23, Luke 8:40-9:6, Psalm 71:1-24, Proverbs 12:5-7

Bro. J.B. Kelley was discharged from the hospital around noon yesterday.  Not totally well but determined to go home.

Ginny Easterling was discharged on Friday afternoon late.  Has problems with a kidney.  Changed meds and everything is “good” for the time being.  I spoke to her via the phone yesterday afternoon and she was in a very positive spirit.

Lisa talked to Debra Elliott via the phone yesterday.  At that time, Art remained in ICU but is doing well.

Virginia’s mother is doing well and is walking the halls with the help of a walker.  Will be discussing a rehab facility on Monday.

Infant Jack Holmes drank one ounce from a bottle and is maintaining his body temperature.  Those are good things!

No update on Archie Sprinkle but I assume he was moved to a regular room.

Alan’s dad has improved.  Last I heard, he was still on the ventilator but it was turned almost as low as it can go.  I will get an update from Alan today.

I did not visit the hospitals yesterday but instead spent from 8:00AM until 6:45PM on the backside of a weed eater, on a mower, picking up limbs, pushing a mower, or washing a vehicle.  Honestly, it was a good day for me.  I have to give thanks to Sueanna Bryant.  She saw me weed eating and bought/brought me breakfast.  How did she know it was me?  Who else on this hill uses a weed eater?  Thank you Sue for being so kind!  She will be one of my illustrations in Sunday School today!

Great basketball games the last two nights.  I am now at 38 – 20 having gotten both games right last night.  I was feeling pretty good about possibly having three of four correct (lets go State) in the Final Four until I learned that Lori Bailey will have all four teams correct if State wins today.  Impressive!  Meanwhile, Lisa got a great deal Friday night on a painting to hang over our bed!

Regular schedule today/tonight.  Baptism in the evening service.  Looking forward to seeing Tom Compagner & crew in the 10:30AM service today.  Hope Tom brings his checkbook!

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 3/29/14

Today’s Bible reading – Deuteronomy 11:1-12:32, Luke 8:22-39, Psalm 70:1-5, Proverbs 12:4

This entry is late and I am sitting in the dark posting as we are without electricity for the second day this week.  Feels like Guatemala!  I called a “friend” on Wednesday who works at the power company and he was going to call me right back (cue the Jeopardy music here)!

Art’s surgery was delayed but it went very well – as good as could be expected!  Debra was thankful!  I appreciate Jim Chinners being there with the family.  Art will hopefully be moved from ICU today and then be in the hospital for a few days before coming home.

Ginny Easterling did not get a good report from the doctors.  However, I do not know all of the details.  I plan on visiting her today.

J.B. Kelley was in x-ray whenever I visited yesterday.  Bro. Kerry had not seen a doctor although he had been with his dad all day.  I do know J.B. wants to go home today!

Infant Jack Holmes is much improved.  I can see him getting out of the PICU soon.

Tina Sprinkle went home late yesterday afternoon.   Archie Sprinkle was waiting to be moved from NICU into a regular room.

Jennifer & John Luke will go home today.

The AFA is encouraging folks to shop at Hobby Lobby today as a show of support.

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  Baptism as a part of our evening service.

Got to give the Pascagoula Walmart credit.  At 5:30AM yesterday morning they had two registers opened, manned, and they were very efficient.

I was 2 – 2 last night in my bracket which now puts me at 36 – 20.  I have three final four teams left.  Impressive that both UM & MSU are in the Elite Eight.  The SEC has two teams remaining as well.  It “could” be an all SEC championship game?  At this point, I would not go against it!  However, I still have MSU winning it all – the President & me!

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 3/28/14

Today’s Bible reading – Deuteronomy 9:1- 10:22, Luke 8:4-21, Psalm 69:19-36, Proverbs 12:2-3

Art Elliott is scheduled to have surgery at 11:00AM today.  He will then be in ICU for at least one night.  Pray for Art & Debra.

Linda Johnson was discharged from the hospital and is at home.  She actually went home on Wednesday night.

Ginny Easterling had a heart cath yesterday afternoon but I do not know the results.

J.B. Kelley was placed in the hospital with pneumonia.  Told me he was going home Saturday morning regardless as he has company coming from Georgia.

Tina Sprinkle is doing “well” and hopes to go home tomorrow.  Kevin is still “milking” that little “burn” thing to the max!

Archie Sprinkle is doing good and could possibly be placed in a regular room today.

Infant Jack Holmes had a feeding tube inserted yesterday.  IMO, he is going to be fine just not sure how long he will be in the hospital.  He remains in PICU.

Lisa and I met a family from Arkansas yesterday whose thirteen month old was burned by coffee on Wednesday night.  She was in surgery at the time of our visit.  Our Sunday School class is ministering to the Holmes family and this family as well.

Jordon, Jennifer and baby John Luke are doing fine.

Virginia’s mother was taken off the ventilator yesterday morning and is doing good.  Still on some oxygen but was waiting to be moved to a regular room.

Mission of Hope ministry tonight, 3/28.  Bus leaves the church at 6:15AM.  Service begins at 7:00PM at the mission.  Everyone invited.

Picked two of the three games correctly last night which now puts me at 34 – 18 for the tourney.  I have MSU, ISU, UL, & UM winning tonight.  I am pretty confident in those four picks but who knows!

It is 4:45AM and I have enjoyed listening to the rain during the night.  We are getting a hard rain at the moment.  My garden is going to be happy as long as it does not rain too hard for too long.  “Bo” Older has guaranteed my seeds so I am no too worried!

Regular schedule on Sunday morning and evening.  Baptism on Sunday night.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 3/27/14

Today’s Bible reading – Deuteronomy 7:1-8:20, Luke 7:36-8:3, Psalm 69:1-18, Proverbs 12:1

Gauge & Mary Holmes’ infant son, Jack, was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon.  He is in PICU with a high sodium count, low blood sugar count, dehydration, weight loss and has been placed on oxygen.  He certainly needs our prayers as he was born on March 17.

His maternal great grandfather, Jack Love, had a heart cath yesterday morning.  It was already known that he has a valve problem.  That will be addressed surgically on April 14 & 15.  In the meanwhile, he has to be very careful.

Paul & Deanna Wetterer became grandparents for the second time yesterday afternoon as Jennifer gave birth to John Luke.  He checked in at 5 pounds 6 ounces and is 20 inches long.  All is well.  Congratulations to Jordon & Jennifer!

Eula Mae’s daugher, Diane, did well through her surgery but was in a lot of pain afterwards.  She is at home recovering.

Virginia Morris’ mother, Lupe Rivera, had hip surgery yesterday in Iowa.  She did well through the surgery but, when they went to remove her from the ventilator, she struggled.  So, they kept her on the ventilator and placed her in ICU.

Ginny Easterling is going to have a chemical stress test today to help determine why her blood pressure remains too high.

Tina Sprinkle had a good day yesterday.  She is making improvement in her recovery from surgery.

Archie Sprinkle could be moved from NICU to a regular room today.

Linda Johnson is looking to be discharged from the hospital.  I am not sure if that means going home or to a rehab center.

Art Elliott is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow afternoon – serious procedure that will put him in ICU at least overnight.

We enjoyed a good day in our services yesterday/last night.  Last night’s 6:30PM crowd was more talkative than normal which was a good thing.  (The morning crowd is always talkative!)

My niece, Jamie, and her two sons, Grayson & Jace, were here for a couple of days (Spring Break).  They left for home late yesterday afternoon.  It was good to see them even though I actually saw them very little.  Of Eddie & Sue’s daughters, Jamie is my favorite!

Got an e-mail from Sommer Brock a couple of days ago.  I thought she had forgotten about us.  As usual, she was wanting to borrow money (or something like that!)  I have been forsaken by folks like Gena Davis, Sandra McElwee and others who “claim” they are long distance readers of the blog!

My bracket shows UF, SDSU and UW winning tonight’s tourney games.  (I did not have UD or Stanford advancing this far)  Bro. Chris and Joe David Bailey have all eight of tonight’s teams winning in at least one of their brackets.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 3/26/14

Today’s Bible reading – Deuteronomy 5:1- 6:25, Luke 7:11-35, Psalm 68:19-35, Proverbs 11:29-31

Eula Mae Blackmon’s daughter, Diane, will be having surgery this morning.  She has “pointed bone syndrome” today’s surgery requires cutting the tendon in her elbow, shaving bone, and then reattaching the tendon.

Paul & Deanna Wetterer will become grandparents for the second time today as their daughter, Jennifer, gives birth via c-section around noon.  Congratulations!

Tina Sprinkle did well through her surgery.  The doctor placed 10 screws and two rods along her spinal column.  I guess this means she is finally straightening up!  (I had to leave the hospital before lunch yesterday as John Wayne Bosarge and Ray Roberts were hinting for me to buy their lunch!)

Ginny Easterling is in the hospital due to high blood pressure issues.  She has been on medication but her BP remains too high.

Liz Cole’s father, Jack Love, is in the hospital.  Heart cath this morning.

Archie Sprinkle looked well when I visited him yesterday.  Still in NICU.

Linda Johnson was asleep whenever I visited yesterday but I did speak to her husband, Vic.  It appears she will be going from the hospital and into a rehab center.  When?  IDK.

Virginia Morris’ mother did not have surgery yesterday as planned.  Hopefully, that will take place today.  Steve told me she was 91 years old but that was not correct – she will not be 91 until this July!  She is doing well all things considered.  Her name is Lupe Rivera.

Miss Jackie Devine (Bill Kendrick) got a good report from the doctor.  She does have a skin cancer but it is the most easily treated.  She sends her thanks for your prayers.

Lindsey & baby Tucker went home from the hospital yesterday.  All is well!

We have a first time team in Guatemala this week and they are doing well.  Heard from them yesterday.  They are from Pell City, Alabama.

If you ever need anything done, just call Katie Brinkman Howard Tillman!  She helped me out yesterday!  What a sweetheart!

The Red Sox got beat again last night but I was told they actually won (as if it matters) the previous night.  The rowdy fan last night (opposing team) was Lee Fore.  Pee Wee sent me to calm him down or something like that!  Speaking of umpire Pee Wee Roberts, here is an example of his missed calls – last night as the other team was batting, he called “ball on the tee” and the ball was not even on the tee!  How can you win with those type of calls?  SMH!

Regular schedule today/tonight.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 3/25/14

Today’s Bible reading – Deuteronomy 4:1-49, Luke 6:39-7:10, Psalm 68:1-18, Proverbs 11:28

Tina Sprinkle will have surgery this morning.  I am not sure of all of the details but do know it is a serious procedure.

The Benefield boys (Herbert & Bubba) attended the service for J.B.’s sister in Sanford, MS yesterday.  I appreciate them doing this.

Linda Johnson “could” be discharged from the hospital today.  Vic was hopeful yesterday.  She is much improved.

Archie Sprinkle was receiving some therapy yesterday morning when I visited.  I will get an update from Kevin today.

Lindsey & Tucker are doing well.  Going home today.  (Amy Reynolds was so wrong about them going home yesterday!)  TJ has asked for an early discharge as he has been told that if a patient is out by 8:00AM the rate for that day is decreased by $10.

Virginia Morris’ mother (91 years old) fell Sunday night and broke a hip.  (I am thinking she lives in Iowa)

Mike Devine is a friend of Bill Kendrick.  Mike’s wife, Jackie, has been diagnosed with a malignancy.  She meets with the doctor today to determine a treatment plan.

Mac’s nephew, Coleman, is still looking at possibly being discharged at some point this week.

Attended the revival service at Cloverdale Baptist last night.  Bro. James Messer did a good job of preaching the Word.

My niece, Jamie, and her two sons arrived yesterday afternoon.  It is good to have them here for a couple of days.

The Red Sox had their second game of the season last night.  Did they win or lose?  I  have no clue.  However, the umpire (Pee Wee Roberts) missed some more calls – LOL!  BTW, that Debbie Hyatt was one rowdy fan – those grandmothers!

Yesterday, I asked Joe David Bailey how his bracket looked.  His reply – cannot remember!  Ditto for Soy!  I did not ask Bro. Chris but I will go ahead and tell you his answer will be the same!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 3/24/14

Today’s Bible reading – Deuteronomy 2:1- 3:29, Luke 6:12-38, Psalm 67:1-7, Proverbs 11:27

Tuesday, 3/25 – Deuteronomy 4:1-49, Luke 6:39-7:10, Psalm 68:1-18, Proverbs 11:28

Wednesday, 3/26 – Deuteronomy 5:1- 6:25, Luke 7:11-35, Psalm 68:19-35, Proverbs 11:29-31

Thursday, 3/27 – Deuteronomy 7:1-8:20, Luke 7:36-8:3, Psalm 69:1-18, Proverbs 12:1

Friday, 3/28 – Deuteronomy 9:1- 10:22, Luke 8:4-21, Psalm 69:19-36, Proverbs 12:2-3

Saturday, 3/29 – Deuteronomy 11:1-12:32, Luke 8:22-39, Psalm 70:1-5, Proverbs 12:4

Sunday, 3/30 – Deuteronomy 13:1- 15:23, Luke 8:40-9:6, Psalm 71:1-24, Proverbs 12:5-7

We were blessed with a good day in our services yesterday.  Anytime you have four professions of faith in a service (10:30AM), that is a blessing!  We give God the glory!

It was good to have Pastor Abel Garcia in our service last night.  The deacons did a good job of serving the Lord’s Supper.  Kaleigh Cooper did a good job of leading us in worship through song.  God is good!

J.B. Kelley’s sister, Margie Culpepper, passed away last Friday.  The funeral service takes place today in Seminary, Mississippi.  Pray for the Kelley/Culpepper family.

Kevin Sprinkle’s brother, Archie, had the surgery yesterday.  They basically made it possible for the excess blood to drain from his head so his brain can have room to stay in its proper place.

Baby Tucker Vice is doing well.  I am going to assume that Lindsey and Tucker will be coming home tomorrow but that is based on nothing factual.  If I am right, I will take the credit.  If I am wrong, blame Amy Reynolds!

Mac McGriff’s nephew, Coleman, is doing great.  He may go “home” (near the hospital) at some point this week.  That is good news!

Linda Johnson, Coley’s step mom, was moved to a regular room late Saturday night.  Pray for continued improvement.

Alan Aldridge’s dad is supposed to be taken off the ventilator today.  It is expected that he will do well with this move.

Tina Sprinkle will be having surgery tomorrow.  Jennifer Wetterer Zirlott is scheduled to give birth on Wednesday.  Art Elliott is scheduled to have surgery on Friday.

After the first forty eight games of the NCAA tourney, my bracket stands at 32 – 16.  The bad news is that I am guaranteed one more loss in the next round.  However, I have a chance to get the remaining fourteen games correct.  (Probably not but the possibility does exist)

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 3/23/14

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 36:1-Deuteronomy 1:46, Luke 5:29-6:11, Psalm 66:1-20, Proverbs 11:24-26

Kevin Sprinkle’s brother, Archie, is scheduled to undergo surgery this morning at 7:30AM.  I do not know the specifics but I do know this is an emergency as Archie is not doing well.  Pray!

BTW, Kevin is doing well in his recovery from the burn he received earlier this week.  His wife, Tina, is scheduled for some major surgery  this Tuesday, 3/25.

Tucker Vice is doing well.  Lisa and Daphne visited Lindsey late yesterday afternoon and Tucker was in the room with his parents.  Praise the Lord!

Coley’s stepmother, Linda, was possibly moved out of ICU yesterday but I am not certain about that.  Spoke to her husband via the phone yesterday morning and he thought that was going to be the case.

Regular schedule at Friendship today/tonight.  Rain is expected this morning.  It is all good!  Faithful folks attend regardless of the weather (unless there are physical limitations).  Most of us have no physical limitations based solely on the weather.  Will you be faithful?

Charles, Soy & I planted peas, okra, cucumbers, squash, and egg plants yesterday.   The only things left to plant now are pepper plants and tomato plants (waiting on Bobby Jack Felps to have a “sale” on these items).  Spent several hours on the backside of a weed eater and on a mower yesterday.  Soy gave a huge assist on the mowing side.

The Red Sox (Titus) took it on the chin in t-ball yesterday.  I am totally blaming the umpire (Pee Wee Roberts)!

My NCAA bracket as of 3:30AM stands at 30 – 10.  At best, I will be 35 – 13 at day’s end.  However, I have SFA over UCLA and  ISU (injury problem) over UNC so it could be worse.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church!
