FRIDAY, 9/29/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Isaiah 7-8; Ephesians 2

There is something about the best laid plans of rats and humans.  “My” plan yesterday was to take the day off (vacation day) in order to get some personal things done.  Did not happen.  I was not in the office but I had a full day.  Sometimes it just happens that way.  It was a productive day.

Larry Whitehurst called me yesterday to share that Tammy Womack’s report from the doctor was not positive.  She will go for another scan today.  Pray for Pastor John, Tammy and the family.

One of our senior saints cooked and delivered supper to the house last night.  You talk about good!  Oh my!  Honestly, we have not had a bad meal yet.  (Couple of close calls!  Just kidding!).  We are very thankful for the outpouring of love shown to us.  Amazing!

It seems that Lisa’s casts have loosened some which means she has some use of all of her fingers now.  She did more things yesterday than she has done since the fall.  Believe me, she is still milking it but she is doing a few things much better.  I think that maybe God is telling her to slow down.  What do you think?

I completely forgot that Clint Landry lives in Arab.  He is going to be on the look out for a good church for the Wes Garrison family.  What a helpful guy!

Good news!  Our blog readership is back in double digits!  Hooray!  I was ashamed to report that after our week offline we had dropped to nine readers.  However, Katie Tillman recruited a new reader yesterday so we are now at ten!  Deidra and Daphne cannot understand why ten people would bother to read my writings.  I tried to explain to them the deepness of these writings but they simply cannot comprehend it.

This NCAA basketball thing is disturbing.  (Rumor has it that Pastor Jack Bailey is upset because Rick Pitino was fired.  Why would Pastor Jack care about Rick Pitino?)  Some of these super freshmen may not see the court this season.  They can clean this up but there will be another scandal.  As someone has well said, “as long as they keep score and there are winners and losers then there will be cheaters!”  So true!

I have decided that for the present time I am going to boycott the NFL.  Crushing blow to them!  Tired of their liberal agenda.  If they make some changes then I may watch the games again.  If not, I am good.  I will survive without the NFL.  Respect for the national anthem, the American flag and members of our military, past and present, mean much more to me than the NFL!  Hey, if these guys want change then why do they not take some of their millions of dollars and help these causes?  By the way, if things are so bad in the US there are planes leaving every day!  Right, just like all those who were leaving after the last presidential election – how did that go?  FYI – read last night where the Denver Broncos say their entire team will stand for the national anthem from this point forward.  Good for them!

Lord willing, Lisa and I will travel to Birmingham today and then over to Tuscaloosa tomorrow afternoon.  Yes, the game begins at 8:00PM.  Yes, we will probably leave Tuscaloosa around midnight.  Yes, it will be 4:00AM or so before we get home.  Yes, I will preach three times Sunday.  Yes, I will teach Sunday School.  Yes, I have two meetings.  Yes, I have lost my mind!

After “work” yesterday I was able to mow three yards.  Have three more today.  Lisa says we cannot leave until all the yard work is done.  Frost, where are you?  LOL!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.
