WEDNESDAY, 2/28/24 (PART TWO)

The visitation with the Kathy Sessions family will take place at First Baptist Grand Bay from 5:00 until 8:00PM tonight.  The service will be tomorrow at 10:00AM also from First Baptist.

The visitation and service for Pat Patterson will take place tomorrow in Gadsden, Alabama.  I will be going up with Andy & Betty Hamil.  Pat was a delightful gentleman.  Pray for his family during this time.

Kevin & Hailey Clark are going through an absolute nightmare.  Their youngest of three sons, Beau, age four, was taken from this life Monday night.  Kevin & Hailey, along with their sons, are faithful members of Danville Baptist Church.  Kevin is a deacon and Hailey is on the praise team.  They will meet with the funeral directors today to set the arrangements.  I have said it many times and I firmly believe it – the most difficult death with which to deal is the loss of a child regardless of their age.  Pray for Kevin, Hailey and family.  Pray for Pastor Joe David Bailey.

Kenneth Roberts was a couple of years ahead of me in school.  He turned sixty-six last November.  This past Sunday, 2/25, he was grilling out with some friends and got choked on a piece of meat and that proved to be fatal.  The visitation and service take place today.  Pray for his family.

“I WAS GLAD” (Psalm 122:1).

I AM A CHURCH MEMBER!  Coming soon!

I pray that you will have a great rest of your Wednesday with Jesus!

Marie Brooks procedure is over and all is well!  Praise the Lord!

TUESDAY, 2/27/24

Two deaths to share this morning – one local, one in the northern part of Alabama.  First, Kathy Sessions, sister-in-law of Johnny Sessions, passed from this life last Wednesday, 2/21.  The arrangements are as follows:  visitation with the family tomorrow, 2/28, from 5:00 until 8:00PM in the auditorium of First Baptist Grand Bay.  Celebration of life service will begin at 10:00AM on Thursday, 2/29, also from First Baptist.  Pray for Kathy’s husband, Charles, and the entire Sessions family during this difficult time.

Second, Mr. Ralph Benjamin “Pat” Patterson of Gadsden, Alabama passed from this life this past Saturday night, 2/24.  Mr. Pat was one hundred and three years old.  He was a dear friend of Andy & Betty Hamil.  The visitation and service will take place on Thursday, 2/29, in Gadsden.  Pray for Pat’s family.  Lord willing, I will be traveling with Andy & Betty in order to attend the visitation and service.

Marie Brooks surgery will take place in the morning, 2/28.  Pray!

Visited with Shawn Grant yesterday.  She is doing ok but really has been having pain issues.  Pray for Shawn as they decide the next step in her recovery.

Visited with Grady Walker yesterday.  I was surprised when the told me that his wife, Carolyn, was in the emergency room.  Grady was doing better and was soon going to be with Carolyn.

I visited Carolyn in the ER.  I am going to assume that they admitted her.  Pray for Grady & Carolyn.

Sonny Bates, Paul Davila and Terry Lucky all continue to recover at home from their respective procedures.  Pray for these brothers.

I received absolutely heart breaking news last night from Morgan County, Alabama.  A young child was bitten by a dog and succumbed to their injuries a very short time afterwards.  The attack and death are both reported on al.com. I know the family involved and simply ask you to join me in praying for these devastated parents.  What a tragedy.

I think Miss Vinnie celebrated all day yesterday as I called but got no answer.  Lisa attempted to visit but no one was at home.  Good for Miss Vinnie!

Lord willing, I am going to drive to Birmingham and back today in order to take in some of the AHSAA state basketball tournament.  Stress reliever for me.  Snow skiing is too but Scott Fontenot has stood me up for the past one million years or so.  Just saying!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Happy ninety-fourth birthday to Miss Vinnie Brewer!  Miss Vinnie is one of the most amazing persons I have ever known.  Of our present church membership no one is held in higher regard.  She is a blessing to this pastor, his family, the Friendship family and so many others.  Happy birthday, Miss Vinnie!

Shawn Grant remains in the hospital.  Keep praying for her.

Sonny Bates is recovering at home and is doing well.  Keep praying.

Terry Lucky also continues to recover at home.  Pray for Terry & Carol.

Marie Brooks is scheduled to have a surgical procedure this Wednesday.  Pray for all to go well.

The Lord blessed us with a good day in our services yesterday.  We give Him the praise!  Actually, I easily heard more encouraging comments from last night’s service than I did from the morning service.

“March Gladness” (Psalm 122:1) is now upon us.  Friendship family, let’s be faithful!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 2/22/24

How about some good news to begin the day!  This came to me from Pam Landry Baker last night – “JZ had appointments in Birmingham today and got lots of good news. He scored higher on lung function than he ever has. And he scored higher on strength and speed tests than last time. Getting stronger at this point is almost unheard of, so the doctors were very surprised. We are praising the Lord!”  How about that!  How about God!

Shawn Grant’s surgery went well.  I think she will be discharged today and will go stay with her sister for the next six weeks or so. Keep praying for Shawn.

Paul Davila’s surgery went well too.  Pray for Paul as he recovers at home.

Sonny Bates is now on the clock surgery wise.  He will have a hip replaced today.  Pray for all to go well.

Daphne and the other professors arrived safe and sound on GRACE Mountain.  Their team travels today.  Pray for traveling mercies.

Bill & Jean Decker have done an amazing job serving in Guatemala since February 5th.  They have been a huge help to Deidra as were Tom & Shari Compagner.  The Deckers return to Michigan today.  Bill & Jean, “thank you!”  Joey & Bibbi are next on that clock!

I am technologically challenged.  However, at my worst, I am much better than Katie Tillman as she is awful!  The girl does not even know how to send a text message.  I am embarrassed for her.  Diane is her mother so I should not be surprised!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 2/21/24

Short and sweet this morning as I am very soon heading out the door to take Daphne to the airport as she heads to Guatemala today.  She, along with three other professors from USA, will be leading a medical team from USA beginning tomorrow.  Pray for traveling mercies for all of these folks.

Shawn Grant’s surgery should begin around 7:00AM this morning.  It is going to be a long one.  Pray for all to go well.

Paul Davila’s surgery should begin around 11:00AM this morning.  Should take an hour or so.  Pray for Paul to have successful surgery and a quick recovery.

I visited with Terry Lucky yesterday morning and he was scheduled to be discharged soon thereafter.  I assume that to be the case.  Keep praying for Terry & Carol.

Visited with Grady Walker.  He was not as confused but the plan is still for him to go to rehab upon leaving the hospital.

Sonny Bates is next on the clock as far as surgery is concerned.  He is scheduled for tomorrow.  Pray for Sonny.  (Actually, pray for him once he goes home and Jeanette is his nurse!  Just saying!)

Regular schedule on our campus this morning and evening.  Everyone is invited to attend!

Best wishes to Clay Scofield and the Cottage Hill basketball team in their regionals final game this afternoon.

Two food blessings have come my way this week.  First, on Sunday Katelyn & Amelia Johnson gave me a cheesecake from Hope’s Cheesecake in Gulf Shores!  Talk about delicious!  Thank to these girls along with Coley & Sam.

Then, my mother-in-law cooked chicken and dumplings yesterday – oh my!  Very good!  Dumplings, English peas and cornbread.  Does it get any better!  Thank you, Ann.

Bro. Dylan is taking a group of folks to the USA basketball game on Friday, 3/1.  Contact him for more information if you are interested in joining them.

Soccer practice is going strong.  League play begins on Saturday, March 9.  Pray for this ministry.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 2/20/24

Terry Lucky’s surgery was delayed yesterday but was, per the doctor, very successful.  Praise the Lord!  Blow Joe & Cecil Guidry took Terry to the hospital and stayed with him until he was put in a room around 6:30PM.  Very, very nice of the Guidrys!  By the way, Carol had dialysis yesterday which is why she could not be with her husband.

Grady Walker was moved from ICU to a regular room yesterday.  He is disoriented and a bit combative.  It appears he will be moved to a rehabilitation center upon his release from the hospital.

Paul Davila confirmed yesterday that his surgery will take place tomorrow, 2/21.  Time TBA.  Pray for Paul as he goes through this surgery.

Shawn Grant’s surgery is set for tomorrow as well.  Her surgery will last five to six hours.  Pray that all goes well.

Sonny Bates is scheduled to have surgery on Thursday hopefully early.  Keep praying for Sonny!

Bro. Johnny Tucker preached at the Mobile Baptist Association’s pastor’s conference yesterday and did a great job.  He does good for an old man!  Just saying!

Friendship family, still looking for at least three more men to serve on the Buildings and Grounds Committee.  Email me at tcturrentine@gmail.com if you are willing to serve.

Our soccer season is approaching rapidly.  League play begins on Saturday, March 9.  Pray for this ministry.

“March Gladness” will be our theme next month.  Psalm 122:1 is our verse for the month.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.
