Thursday Night High School Bible Study

We had an awesome time in HS Bible Study last night.. We were in I John 2:28-3:3 and learned that Abiding in Christ is very important for our lives. Abiding being the idea that we are aware and consciously “remain by or stay around” something or someone. Point is that we ought to be aware of what God is doing in our lives, be aware of how we are acting towards God, and make sure it is what we would want to present to the King of Kings. Had a student speak about his personal experience with something like that, in that his dad would see him doing something that was not pleasing, fold his arms and just stare. His then turned his illustration to this point, God is always watching. He shared that in his house there is a sign above the doorway that says, “I saw that – God” , pointing out that while we might get away with it here on earth (in his case -NOT – because dad is always watching), others may not know what we have done, God is always watching us. Another student shared how this idea of abiding has changed his life, and the friends he hangs with everyday. Since some of the friends he used to hang with did things that were not pleasing or aligned with God’s word, he has either stopped hanging with them or they stopped coming around. We talked about how difficult this is because we want to have friends and we need others. However, several students expressed their joy that the Three6teen Youth Group was...

Last Update from Bro. Chris

Good morning, Hopefully you enjoyed a great Mother’s Day weekend with your family and celebrated some mothers in the process. This week is going to be a bittersweet week as I finish out my time here at Friendship.  Though I am saddened by the departure I am joyful in that God is preparing my steps for the future. Wednesday is going to be special as Nicole and I have gifts for every student that attends this Wednesday night.  I thought about buying food for them, but then thought about the best thing that I could give them is the word, so each student will be receiving a new NLT Bible.  They are nice Bibles that hopefully the students can use for many years to come.  We purchased 80 of them so if we have more students than that we will have to give some IOU’s. I believe Jim Chinners is coordinating something this Wednesday so contact him about that.  We will have a joint service in the gym at regular times. This upcoming Saturday I’ll be taking some of the high-school seniors out to dinner and then on Sunday I will be sharing in both the 8:00a and the 10:30a service.  The 10:30am service will be when we recognize the High-School Seniors.  From my understanding the evening service will begin at 5:00pm and then there will be a reception at 6:00pm. There isn’t a better time to be involved in the student ministry so jump on board.  Bro. Teddie mentioned in his latest letter that the church is hosting a meeting in the auditorium on Tuesday, 5/17, beginning at 6:30PM for those involved...

Monday Update 4/25

Thank you to all those who pray for, minister to, and are involved with our students.  You are what drives this ministry forward. Last week we opened the CAB at 5:30p and no earlier and it seemed to work out fine.  We will continue to do that moving forward and if we are not having a problem with students leaving before church we may move up the times to open a little earlier. We are having some students sign-up for GO Camp and that is great.  I encourage every student to sign-up and make plans to go.  Currently First Baptist Bayou la Batre, Higher Ground Baptist, and Danville Baptist will be joining us for camp at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center.  Find me or Bro. Jim to sign-up or text me the info. Bro. Jim and the students did an amazing job of preparing the Sunday meal yesterday morning.  In my opinion it was one of the best Sunday meals I’ve had in a while.  On the funds raised the students are looking to make a little over $50/each.  That’s amazing! The Mother/Daughter banquet is coming up and the ladies are asking for about 10 students to help serve during this event.  If your student can help minister please let me know soon (college or grade-school). Monday Update 4/18

Good morning, Spring Break is over and we are back to regular schedules for the most part.  This Wednesday will be back to normal for our times and Bible studies. Students that we have addresses on file with will be getting flyers for GO Camp in the mail later this week.  Some of the students received them this Sunday morning during Sunday School. Checking out the New Orleans calendar of events and April 30th is going to be Jazz Festival.  This is NOT a good time to bring our students as there will be tons of people down there.  We made that mistake either last year or the year before last when we almost killed off Stan Hatcher walking him so far.   I’ll be looking at other dates. On sports the JV Bryant Baseball team made it to the Championship game but came up short against McGill.  Proud of those guys, especially those that are involved at Friendship.  Madison Poiroux, Kayleigh Cooper, and the Faith Academy Soccer team take on Alma Bryant next Tuesday at 5:00pm at Alma Bryant. I absolutely love Richard Ross.  He is a professor of Student Ministry at Southwestern Seminary.  He wrote this, “When parents love Jesus and walk with Him (imperfectly), 82% of their children walk in faith a lifetime. How will you use your time today?”  I’m a big fan of math and love to see statistics and numbers.  If you are a parent and have a student in our ministry think on this statistic and make a plan (if you don’t have one already) to walk with Jesus daily. Monday Update 4/11

Hello everyone, Spring break is here and from what I can tell many of our students are out of town.  There are still a few left in Grand Bay and I am praying they will be faithful to church on Wednesday and Sunday coming up. We didn’t have a good number in Sunday School this week, but did get updated contact information from them which is very good. The Field day at the Mobile Baptist Children’s home was fantastic.  Great kids, but I could tell there are some deep rooted issues with a lot of them.  I am thankful our church supports the Alabama Baptist Children’s home and pray for the kids in their care. We are on regular scheduled times, but we will join together as a group on Wednesday. Monday Update 4/4

Good morning, Yesterday’s Bubble Ball Day was a hit.  Lots of fun but my back is feeling the effects of it this morning.  Honestly I think I hurt it more practicing some soccer techniques with Sofia instead of getting slammed by everyone.  Fun day! Today and Tomorrow the JV Bryant Boys have a double header baseball game at Alma Bryant. Spring Break is upon us as this is the last week of school before Mobile County’s.  This Wednesday we are on regular schedule but next week we will have a joint Wednesday service. Encourage your students and students you interact with to be involved in Sunday School.  The next couple Sunday mornings can normally be down weeks for SS but if we step out and encourage students to come we can break that normalcy. Monday (Tuesday) Update 3/28

Good morning, The Easter weekend may be over but the celebration of a Risen Savior should never be. Changing the way I send out these emails and post to the foundationflow.com page.  All events will be in a solitary email to make this email a little shorter and keep the info for events on those threads. We have almost a full van and made need to get another mode of transportation depending on who signs up by this Wednesday for the Harlem Globetrotters.  I will be ordering tickets Thursday morning first thing so make sure if you have a student that wants to go to let me know. Monday of Spring Break we are doing an event at the Baptist Children’s home.
