Monday Update 7/13

Good morning, A lot of people have been asking about my experience at Wild Week and I have planned on writing a post to you all about that now that it is in the books. GO Camp sponsors needed! We have 2 students that would like to go but are not able to afford camp.  They were in the Sunday service yesterday and have been faithful to Wednesday night services for a long time now.  Sponsorships are $199.  Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in sponsoring or partially sponsoring one of these two students.  Contact me if you have questions about these students as some want more detailed information on where, whom, and how their giving will be used. Last Wednesday’s service was packed from what I heard.  From reports we had about 50 students joined with 100 youth works students.  With all the warm bodies and the non-functional A/C I heard it was a bit warm in the CAB.  Other than that though, all reports were great, and a big thanks goes out to Bro. Jim Chinners for leading everything. We are 3 Wednesdays away from the last Wednesday night with our Seniors.  Please remind them about the Wednesday night Bible study and fellowship at Bro. Teddie’s that they can join in on August 5th at 7:30pm and every Wednesday night after. On August 5th the upcoming 5th graders will be able to join The Foundation Youth Ministry.  We are going to have regular services but it will be a little different as we are going to meet in the gym together and then break, more...

Monday Update 7/6

Good morning, What an amazing service we had yesterday morning.  God definitely was honored IMO.  Then to cap it all off last night the USWNT won the World Cup in style. This afternoon I head back to Texas to week two of Wild Week with Ken Freeman.  Week one we got to see 268 come to know Christ.  Pray we will see students saved this week also. We will need all hands on deck this Wednesday night.  Bro. Jim Chinners will be leading this Wednesday night and the leaders at Youth Works said this is going to be their biggest week of the year as they are bringing 100.  All students will be in the CAB for service and it will start at regular time. GO Camp is only two weeks away.  I have always believed that the summer youth camps should not be looked at as a cost, but an investment.  Parents, how much would you pay to see your student make a decision that alters their lives for eternity?  Though camp doesn’t assure that, it does give an opportunity to.  The opportunity is why we must make it a priority to have our students involved in Sunday services (Sunday School, Worship, DT, & Evening Worship) as well as the Wednesday night activities. Monday Update 6/29

Good morning, It was great to get back with our students on Wednesday night and this past Sunday morning for Sunday school.  This upcoming Sunday we will not have Sunday school or any evening services.  There will solely be a 10:30am service, so make sure you note that and attend if you are in town. Apologies for having to cancel the river day.  Weather has been crazy and if the river is not down it is not good to take the students.  I may take some students on Thursday, July 2 if the river is ok.  I will call Charles Persons on Wednesday to see what the conditions are like.  No signup needed for this trip and more information on Wednesday night will be given. We have received a lot of positive response from the groups with Youth Works about our service on Wednesday night.  I want to thank all those that were a part of getting things in order the two weeks that I was away, and for the next two Wednesdays I’ll be away in the upcoming weeks (July 8 – Wild Week 2, July 22 – GO Camp). On the subject of Youth Works, they have requested that if we know anyone that is in need of painting, yard work, or other light missional type projects their groups could be a part of please let me know.  I have a form that can be filled out and I can give it to the leaders to be put on the list. We are also 5 weeks away from our last Wednesday night of the church year.  This...

Monday Update 6/22

Good morning, Summer is in full swing as baseball tournaments, mission trips, vacations, and the such are the bulk of our 24 hour days.  Reported from Alan Aldridge who took care of the Wednesday night service last week said that the Youth Works groups have enjoyed the Wednesday services and cannot wait to see what we have in store for this week.  I’m back speaking so I’m not sure if their expectations will be met. One of the hardest things is moving from High-school to college, even in the church, and sometimes there needs to be a little bit of push by us as leaders.  I have talked with a few Seniors about this and they are not thrilled but will benefit from the move if they are faithful.  From this Wednesday our Seniors will have 5 more Wednesdays with us and then the new church year starts.  After that they can join with the other college/career students on Wednesday at Bro. Teddie’s at 7:30p.  Help encourage them to attend this service.  Free Food and great fellowship with the Word. We have a couple things coming up before and after Youth Camp and those are detailed below In 140 characters or less: – Sign up for text alerts from The Foundation by texting FYM to 68398 – 6/23 – Open Gym for 6-12th Grade Students from 1-4pm. – 6/27 – Day on the Escatawpa River (more info below) – 7/7-11 – Bro. Monday Update 6/1

Good morning, Welcome to June and summer break for the students.  Nicole texted me this morning and said there was no one in car line and she has 7 students.  I’m pretty sure this is a wasted day at MCPSS. In the area of prayer I ask that you all pray for Sofia Arriola.  She was not able to attend the Grand Bay Middle School awards ceremony because she was sick and has continued with this sickness since then.  Randall has also caught it as well, so please pray for that household in the area of healing. Danville Baptist crew is here with 20 folks and they are starting work at Light of the Village in Prichard, AL this morning.  Pray for the rainy weather to slack off, and for them as they minister in and around this area. Tuesday Update 5/26

Good morning, Our seniors are done with classes and the only ones left to walk the stage are the graduates from Faith Academy.  Their ceremony will be this Thursday night at 7:00pm at Cottage Hill Baptist Church. We had a good crowd of students in service Sunday night as that was the requirement to go Late-Night bowling.  Spanish Trail Lanes have been very kind over the years to allow us to rent the whole bowling alley as it gives us a good atmosphere to have fun with the students. Next week we will host the Danville Baptist Youth Group in our CAB for their mission trip, the next week we will have VBS, the next some of our students will be in Guatemala, etc….. Our summer is going to be jam packed as usual.  Youth Works will be with us again this summer and I am excited to be able to host the 60-70 different students they bring each week from all across nation. GO Camp 2015 Signup is going on now.  Contact me for any questions.  More info below In 140 characters or less: – 6/1-5 – Danville Baptist Mission Trip (Will be using our CAB) – 6/8-12 – Vacation Bible School (see Mrytle Bowden for information on serving) – 6/10 – Joint Service with Junior High & Senior High – 6/11-18 – GRACE Trip 1 – Faith Academy Graduation 5/28 at 7:00pm @ Cottage Hill Baptist Church In 140 characters or more: Late-Night Basketball & Fellowship Schedule Let me know if you cannot be there on these dates.
