WEDNESDAY, 7/24/13

Wednesday, July 24th, 2013

A good final day.  Some of the team worked at Casa Aleluya while the rest visited a children’s home that Lazaro works with.  That was followed by a visit to Casa Aleluya.  Upon their return, the vans were washed inside and out.  An 80th birthday worship service was held for Bro. Paul Leytham.  Manolo & Mildred Padilla led the musical worship, others shared, and a brief message from Joshua was shared.

After supper, we will have our final share time.  It will be up and at them early in the morning.  The good part of that is that everyone should be at their respective home airports by mid-afternoon (not as early for the Michigan folks but earlier than normal).

Thank you for taking the time to follow these abbreviated blog entries.  Pray for us as we travel home tomorrow.

TUESDAY, 7/23/13

Wednesday, July 24th, 2013

The day began with our men working on the road inside the property.  They used rocks, sand, and cement mix and it has made an immediate positive difference.  We will see if it works long term.

We then went to the village and dedicated the 24 houses.  There were several salvation decisions.

This evening, we went out to eat.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Everyone continues to do well.  Pray for us.

MONDAY, 7/22/13

Monday, July 22nd, 2013

A really strong Monday!  First, we hosted three Bible Schools with a total of 430 children.  What a great blessing!

The building teams were able to finish the construction of the houses today by building ten more and putting concrete in twelve today. We came back to the mission house tired but grateful for the day.  We have plans to dedicate the 24 houses tomorrow because we have ministry opportunities on Wednesday.

Some of the team came back to the mission house early in order to do a food/clothes distribution in the El Tejar area.  I understand that went well.

Everyone is well.  We are thankful!

SUNDAY, 7/21/13

Monday, July 22nd, 2013

A good Sunday.  The team slept in, ate breakfast, and then spent time in musical worship followed by a message delivered by Lazaro Suruy.  Pastor George Lamorena translated the message for us.

We then headed to the service at Rios de Agua Viva.  Pastor Walter Aju preached with Pastor George serving as his translator.  It was a good service.

The rest of the day was spent “as usual” for us with lunch and shopping.  Nice, restful evening.

They needed that rest as tomorrow will see us building more houses, doing concrete, and hosting a food/clothes distribution in the evening.

This has been a historic trip as eight “slacker” shirts have already been distributed by the “committee!”  Seven were given last night!  We have had a husband & wife and a dad & lad receive shirts – never before in the history of GRACE Ministries have we had this.

Thanks for taking the time to read this update.  Pray for us!

SATURDAY, 7/20/13

Saturday, July 20th, 2013

A good second day of ministry.  More houses were built, two VBS’s took place, and another day of work at Casa Aleluya.  Everyone is in good spirits and serving with great attitudes.

Tomorrow is a usual Sunday for one of our GRACE Ministries teams – morning devotional, church service, lunch in Antigua, shopping, and then an evening at the mission house.

We appreciate those who are checking on us.  Keep praying.

Blessings!

FRIDAY, 7/19/13

Friday, July 19th, 2013

A usual first day of work for a team.  We made our way west of Tecpan.  We actually drove past where the team that just left yesterday was building.  As I figured, this team did very well completely finishing one house, three more received the concrete, and four more are up to the point of being ready for the cement.

One of our very best workers, Ross Genzink, and his wife, Kathy, made their way to Casa Aleluya and spent the entire day working there.  They will go back there at least one more day.

Everyone is well.  Tomorrow we go back to build and we will also host two Bible Schools – one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

I appreciate you checking on us and deeply appreciate the prayers.

THURSDAY, 7/18/13

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

Forty six folks flew from Grand Rapids, Memphis, Atlanta, Birmingham, Gulfport and Mobile early this morning.  Two flew in last night and stayed in a hotel near the airport.  By 3:30PM, all 48 were in the mission house.  We met, went to the store for candy, ate supper in town, and came back to rest and recharge for tomorrow.

Everyone is well.  Thanks for your prayer support.

LATEST UPDATE – 7/15/13 – BRO. JERRY

Tuesday, July 16th, 2013

Wow! What a day! We had partly cloudy skies as we began the day and it just got better and better. We have all 15 houses framed. Out of the 15 houses, we still have 6 to put fronts on. We plan to do this in the morning as well as dedicate all the houses. In the afternoon, we will do our feeding and clothes distribution. Afterwards, we plan to either go to a restaurant or return to the mission house for pizza. Tomorrow night we will have share time. Wednesday, we are off to the lake for shopping, zip lines for the brave, or just enjoying the area. All this is always subject to change, so we will see.

SUNDAY 7/14/13 – BRO. JERRY

Monday, July 15th, 2013

We had a great day today! Went to church at the seminary and enjoyed the part of the service we attended. We went to Antiqua and had a great meal and then the folks shopped till they dropped or till 3 PM, 4 PM, or 5 PM. I won’t mention the person’s name that was last to the bus because they love to shop but if birds of a feather flock together…I’m just saying!

Came back to the mission house and had supper (where do they put it?) and then had a great service with Dr. Court Farni sharing from the Word. Sorted clothes and prepared tools, folded sheets, and they are currently going strong having fellowship. I’m going to take a shower and go to bed! Great folks!

Happy 6th birthday to my grandson, Gabe!

SATURDAY 7/13/13 – BRO. JERRY

Monday, July 15th, 2013

We had a great day today with a dental clinic and house building continuing to progress. We have 5 completed and are on our 11th house. All in different stages. The rain caused us to quit earlier than I wanted but it’s all good. This group is working really hard. Their attitudes are fantastic and the fellowship is amazing! Tomorrow will be a day of worship, shopping, rest. Monday, we will start again.
All are well and most are either in bed or playing games. I’m heading to bed!
