GEORGE BROWN’S PASSING

Melissa Brown e-mailed me this morning after I had posted to tell me that Keith Brown & Diane Cordell’s grandfather, George Brown, passed away during the night.  Mr. Brown was 88 years old.  Obviously, the arrangements are incomplete at this time but we will post them via this blog once they have been finalized.  Pray for this family.

FRIDAY, JULY 13

Ten days have passed since I last posted an entry on this blog as I posted on the GRACE blog during our mission trip.  Yesterday, I was just lazy and didn’t post anywhere – sorry about that.

Lisa and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary yesterday.  My sister, Melissa, and her husband, Tony, also celebrated their anniversary yesterday.  In 1925 my paternal grandparents were married on July 12.  I am sure all of you are fascinated by that tidbit of information!

Speaking of weddings, tonight is the rehearsal for Dale Bosarge & Karla Teasley as they will become one in marriage tomorrow afternoon.  All members of the Friendship family are invited to their wedding ceremony which begins at 3:00PM tomorrow, 7/14, in the church auditorium.  The reception will follow in the Christian Activities Building.

As I write this entry, Bro. Johnny & Miss Judy Tucker, along with thirty others should be in the Atlanta airport on their way to Guatemala.  They were scheduled to leave Citronelle at 1:00AM today, Pensacola at 6:00AM, and arrive in Guatemala at 1:00PM (our time).  One young lady went yesterday so a group of 33 will be doing ministry for the next eight days.  Pray for them!

My dad has been receiving another round of chemotherapy treatments this week.  The doctor believes this round and two more will be sufficient for the time being.  The tumor that was the size of an orange has now decreased to the size of a quarter.  Thank you for your prayers thus far and please keep praying.

I am out the door to mow the lawn here and at my in laws.  Hope you have a great day in the Lord!

MONDAY, JULY 2

Yesterday was a wonderful day as the Lord blessed our services.  Michelle Palmer made a profession of faith during our 10:30AM service.  Bro. Johnny Tucker did his usual good job of bringing the message during that service.  Bro. Jerry and the team members made a nice presentation of their GRACE trip during our evening service.  Our students enjoyed a good time of fellowship following the evening service at the home of Joe & Candy Povilonis.  Thanks Joe & Candy.  Also, several members of our student ministry committee did a great job of hosting that fellowship.

The wedding ceremony went well.  The number of folks who helped us before, during, and after the wedding and/or reception are too numerous to list for fear of leaving someone off the list.  Words cannot adequately express our appreciation to these folks for their help and kindess to us.  We are blessed!

We were blessed to have a good number of family and friends join us for the wedding ceremony.  Many of them were in that number of helpers and it was so good to get to visit with them even though we weren’t the best hosts as we were focused on the wedding.  I thank them for attending and for being so kind and understanding of our situation.

It was a special joy to see Bro. Johnny & Miss Judy Tucker as he helped with the actual ceremony.  I appreciate him taking the time to be a part of the weekend.

Today, I have to get ready for our next GRACE ’07 trip which begins at 6:00AM tomorrow.  I will be posting during that trip on the GRACE blog and may keep this blog updated too as I receive updates from the office.  Stay tuned!

The church office will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, and we will not have any services or activities due to the holiday.

Hope you have a great day in the Lord!
