FULLER MOON

God is good!  I stepped  home for lunch and Edna called to say that someone stopped by the office with an additional $1,203 for the LMCO which brings our total to $31,776.13 – hallelujah!  Praise the Lord!  Glory to God!  (I guess you can tell that I am excited!)

Please note that any gifts given after today will go toward our 2010 LMCO goal.  (The GA post office receipts are the exception)

FULL MOON!

Praise the Lord and hallelujah!  Our goal was to receive $30,000 for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for the SBC IMB by November 30, 2009.  God blessed your obedience and our total given now stands at $30,573.13!  Thank you Lord and thank you Friendship family!  Awesome!

Our largest LMCO to date was $31,014.25 in 2006 which means that if our GA Post Office receives $441.13 then our 2009 LMCO will be the largest in the sixty-two year history of the Friendship family.  I fully expect our GA’s and their leaders will exceed the $441.13 total.

I am a happy camper with a grateful heart!  Thank you to each member of “Lottie’s Legion @ Friendship” and to all others who gave to this offering.  Glory to God!  He deserves all of the praise!  Our God is an awesome God!

There will be no more mention of the LMCO this year except for references to our GA Post Office which will operate through 12/16.  We will be asking folks to join Lottie’s Legion @ Friendship for 2010 with giving beginning in February.  I’m pumped!

MONDAY, 11/30/09

I am putting out an APB for November ’09 – where did it go?  Wow, I don’t know if it is the “having fun” or “getting older” thing but time sure is flying!

The Lord blessed and we had a good day in our services yesterday.  Our attendance in all three services was good for a holiday weekend.  It was great to see folks from out of town.  I appreciate Pastor Travis & Amy Northcutt attending our 8:00AM & 6:00PM services.

The Lord has blessed and we have developed a good core of about 20 folks in our Sunday afternoon Spanish service.  I so appreciate all those who help with that ministry.  The December meals are covered so now we are looking for folks for January – contact Lisa if you can help.

I am writing this reasonably early so I do not have an update on our LMCO.  I will probably post again later today with an update.  Our GA post office is up and running through Wednesday, 12/16, so consider using it for your “in church” Christmas card delivery.

I do want to congratulate Pastor Jack Bailey and the folks at Danville Baptist as they are nearing their LMCO goal of $60,000.  Praise the Lord!  I fully expect Pastor Jack to legally change his name to Jack “Lottie Moon” Bailey before he passes from this life!

Carla Kyser has another test this week and should get the results from last week’s test too.  Cecil told me yesterday that Miss Vivian continues to improve.  Keep praying.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

GREAT GAME!

Obviously, many of us watched the Bama versus Auburn football game today.  My hat is off to the Auburn team and coaches for a game well played and coached.  My sister, Melissa, who is a die hard Auburn fan tells me that Coach Chizik is a fine person and a Christian.  (Of course, she thinks all AU fans are Christians! LOL!)

Alabama showed some resiliency in coming back from 14 points down and then 7 points down.  It was a hostile environment.  I am sure that my brother, Freddie, & his wife, Mary Jane, Pastor Bob Harvey, Renee Winkler, and others did their part to make the noise very much a distraction for the Bama team.  However, a win is a win and the season continues.

In the end, it is just a game.  I do my best to keep that in perspective.  So, congratulations to Bama for getting the win and to Auburn for playing their hearts out!

I do not like the Friday setting for this game!  I will probably get up and go to church tomorrow and wonder why no one else is there!

Diane Cordelle & Keith Brown’s grandmother, Lillian Brown, passed away yesterday.  The visitation will be tonight from 5:00 – 8:00PM at the Radney Funeral Home in Saraland with the funeral taking place tomorrow at noon from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.  Pray for this family as they go through this time of grief.

FRIDAY, 11/27/09

Thanksgiving Day ’09 will go down as “different” for the Turrentine family but “different” in a good way due to the birth of Titus.  We spent the morning at the hospital and then had our Thanksgiving meal at Cracker Barrel.  It was “good” but it wasn’t Ann’s cooking!  We will have that this Sunday!

I have to tell you that the staff at the hospital has been superb!  Lisa and our girls were born in the same hospital as Titus and I cannot say enough good things about the doctor, the nurses, and the entire staff.  They have gone above & beyond to take care of Daphne & Titus.  I have been impressed and grateful!

Also, on behalf of Brad & Daphne, I say “thank you” to those who have visited and/or called the hospital.  We are blessed.  Daphne & Titus will come home this morning!

I don’t have an update on Miss Vivian or anyone else – sorry about that!  However, I am assuming that “no news is good news” in this situation.

It is 3:30AM and I am about to join Lisa on a quick run to Mobile.  Have I lost my mind?  Probably!  However, Home Depot has some things on sale that will benefit GRACE Ministries.  Otherwise, I would be in the bed!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 11/26/09

Happy Thanksgiving!  As the day was winding down yesterday, I began to think about all of the things that I have for which to be thankful!  Honestly, the internet doesn’t provide room and you don’t have time for me to list all of those blessings in my life.

I am thankful for God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy Spirit.  The Father gave His Son, Jesus, Who in turn gave His life that I might have life everlasting, and the Holy Spirit indwells me.  I am thankful for my salvation.

I am thankful for my family.  The Lord has blessed me richly with my wife and our five daughters and two sons-in-law.  I have great parents, siblings, and in-laws too.

I am thankful for our grandson, Titus.  Mark Mast called last night and asked me which was more emotional for me – watching my own daughters being born or watching our grandson being born.  Easy to answer – watching Titus enter this world.  The reality of being a grandparent hasn’t completely hit me yet but I am thankful and look forward to the journey.

I am thankful for the Friendship family.  Wow, am I blessed or what to serve as their pastor!  I have disappointed them many times over but they just love me and allow me to serve alongside them.  I am thankful for their faithfulness over the years.

I am thankful for my extended Christian family – even those who aren’t Baptist!  I have been allowed to meet and become friends with some awesome folks over the years with a lot of that being through GRACE Ministries.  What a blessing!

So, today I will go back to the hospital to check on Brad, Daphne, & Titus.  I will spend time with Lisa, Hien, Dana, & Gina.  I will talk to Soy & Deidra via the phone as they are in the Memphis area with Soy’s family.  In all of that, I will be reminded of just how blessed I am and a sense of deep gratitude will rise in my heart.  God has been so good to me!

I pray that you will have a great Thanksgiving Day with Jesus!

WEDNESDAY, 11/25/09

This post is way late but with good reason as our first grandchild, Titus Bradford Hutto, made his entry into this world this morning at 10:10AM!  He checked in at 6 lbs 15 oz and is doing great as is his mother (and father).  We are very grateful to God for His watchcare over Daphne during the birthing process.  Lisa, Deidra, & I were blessed to be able to join Brad & Daphne in the room as Titus entered the world.  What a joy!

Yesterday, Daphne & I went to visit Miss Vivian in the hospital and it seemed to please her to see Daphne in her expectant state.  Miss Vivian continues to improve as she is now eating some “real” food!  Keep praying!

Obviously, we are not having any services today or tonight as we had the community service this past Monday.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday afternoon with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/24/09

The Lord blessed and we had a good community Thanksgiving service last night.  Pastor Terry Ragsdale of Worship Center East did a nice job of bringing the Word to us as he encouraged us to “make the most of the time!”

The attendance wasn’t nearly what I think it should be but the Friendship family was well represented.  Now, we had plenty of others who could have been present but I am very grateful to those who attended, provided the refreshements, and helped serve/clean up during the fellowship.

Carla Kyser has a test today.  Pray for her.  Teddy Ray Jackson told me last night that his mother is much improved.  Praise the Lord!

I visited Miss Vivian yesterday afternoon and was pleased with how she looked and the report from Cecil.  She had actually been for a walk in the hallway.  She seemed to have a great attitude.  Keep praying!

Speaking of Miss Vivian, she wanted me to make sure we have the convalescent home residents covered regarding Christmas gifts.  We will be making that push this Sunday, 11/30.

I went to the Gulfport airport last night to transport the folks who had been on the GRACE trip home.  They arrived into GPT around 10:30PM and we were back in Grand Bay at 11:40PM.  Thank God for His traveling mercies.

A number of folks asked about Daphne yesterday/last night and there seems to be some confusion regarding her situation.  Her due date is 12/4 but she is showing signs of delivering early.  However, she is not in the hospital and there are no plans of putting her in the hospital.  I came home from the GRACE trip a day early “just in case” based on the signs.  Thank you for your concern & prayers and I will let you know once Titus makes his appearance.  (I am asking him to not do that from 1:30PM – 5:00PM this Friday as his mother did.  Otherwise, we are good to go!)

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/23/09

This is an odd Monday for me!  I am back in Grand Bay having arrived in Gulfport around 9:00AM last night.  The Lord blessed by allowing me to get home a day early.  My flight from GUA to ATL arrived early which allowed me to switch flights to GPT.  That was great as my original flight into GPT didn’t arrive until 11:30PM.  Praise the Lord!  (I have to go get my luggage in GPT today but that is small potatoes!)  The “oddness” comes in that I did not get to attend an entire service yesterday and that is way wierd for me!

Of course, I am home awaiting the arrival of Titus.  I have told Daphne now that I am at home he will not make his appearance until December 29!  LOL!  Pray for Daphne in these final days of her pregnancy.  Thanks!

I hear that the services went good yesterday.  I appreciate Bro. Robbie preaching in my absence.

I don’t have an update on the folks in the hospital, battling cancer, et cetera.  I do know that Carla Kyser is scheduled for a test tomorrow so pray for her.

I received word yesterday that Jodi Datema’ mother has been diagnosed with a brain tumor (non-malignant) and will be having surgery tomorrow.  Jodi is a dear friend from Michigan who has gone with us on GRACE trips in previous years.  Pray for Grace Datema as the Lord brings her to your mind.

Part of the GRACE team is leaving today.  As I type this at 8:00AM, the Michigan folks should be in the air bound for Houston before flying on to Chicago.  The Alabama folks and T. Garrett should leave the mission house around 10:00AM this morning for an early afternoon flight.  Pray for safety in travel.

Tonight, the Friendship family will host the annual community Thanksgiving service beginning at 7:00PM.  I pray that we will be well represented.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
