THURSDAY, 2/28/13

Tina Sprinkle’s maternal grandfather passed away last night.  The arrangements are incomplete at this time.  We will post them here once they have been finalized.  Pray for Tina and her family.

Miss Edith Kelley, Mitchel Fox, and Jack Lastorka were all discharged from the hospital.  I am not sure about Tim Knighten’s step mother but do ask that you keep praying for all of these folks.

Karen Walker’s husband, Sidney, has been hospitalized because of a fall.  Karen’s mother continues to seemingly linger near death.  Pray for Karen and family.

Kevin Woods remains hospitalized.

I thank Bro. Jerry for doing the 10:00AM service yesterday.  It was good to be in the 7:00PM service and the 8:00PM Bible study last night.  Thank you to those who are faithful on Wednesdays.

The young adults tried to convince me last night that I need to start watching “Duck Tales” or something like that.  I think that I will pass even though they claim it is a good show.  I will leave that to Scott Older, Grant Tillman and the others who are duck hunters.  (Even Daryn Kuipers in MI)

The Faith Academy girls won yesterday.  Folks, I would be financially busted if I were a betting man (which I am not!)!  I did not think they could beat Brewer and they just whipped them.  Congratulations!  I was so in hopes that the boys would win as I really like Dylan Brown and he is a senior.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 2/27/13

Jack Lastorka was involved in an automobile accident yesterday morning.  He required surgery on his mouth area and was kept in the hospital over night.  Thank God that his injuries were “minor” compared to what they could have been.  Pray for Jack.

Leslie Williams cousin, Katie, lives in Alaska and is due to give birth in June.  However, there are some problems and the doctors are giving her steroids which could cause her go give birth.  The doctors are giving the baby a 50/50 chance of living if the birth takes place now.  Mickey & Marilyn are trying to make travel arrangements to get to Alaska.  Pray for Katie, the baby, and the family.

I do not have updates on the others.  Hopefully will be able to give updates late this afternoon or in the morning.

My sister’s and younger brother’s sister-in-law, Penny, had surgery for her pancreatic cancer yesterday.  The report was not good and the prognosis is dim.  The Whipple surgery is very tough and she will now face treatment.  With all of that, the doctors give very little hope.  Pray for Penny and her family.

Cecil Guidry did a wonderful job of coordinating the meal for the Beech family.  Thanks to her and all those who helped.  Thanks for praying for the service too.

Lisa, the girls, and I are in Birmingham to watch the Faith Academy girls’ team and boys’ team play in the semi-finals of the AHSAA state basketball tournament.  Lord willing, we will be home in time for the 7:00PM service tonight.

We are on a regular schedule today.  Bro. Jerry will handle the 10:00AM service.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 2/26/13

The Friendship family will be feeding the Beech family today.  Cecil Guidry has taken charge of this and tells me that she has everything covered.  Thank you to those who are helping with this meal.  Again, pray for me as I preach this service.

I visited five hospitals yesterday.  I hope to see Mitchel Fox this morning before I meet with the Beech family.  Did I mention that I am “miffed” at Tiff?  However, I am praying for her as she was running a temp of 102 yesterday afternoon.

Keep praying for Miss Edith.

I did not get to visit with Dawn Baria yesterday but plan on doing so today.  Keep praying for Dawn, Bobby and the family.

I asked the deacons to “serve a table” for me and they are graciously doing so.  We have not relocated the church offices yet because of my poor leadership in this area.  That ball has now begun rolling as the deacons have taken the proverbial bull by the horns.  We could use some painters (contact Bernard Suthoff), some flooring guys (Joey S – you learned from GW about how to mix the thinset), and some electricians to replace some lighting.  There will be no demolition only slight modifications to the things already listed.  I appreciate the deacons and their help in this area.

Bro. Benny McGath has done a masterful job of continuing to lead in the upgrading of the CAB since we “finished” the remodeling.  Yesterday afternoon, he and Sammy Bowden were busy doing something.  They repaired the lights that had been out for several weeks as well.  I appreciate Bro. Benny and each person who has helped in any way.  Good stuff!

Bro. Chris has added some more to the GRACE Ministries website.  “We” are working hard on it!

I am sorry for the folks in Grand Bay who were without electricity last night.  I hope the outage was not too long.  This is what you get when Sam Schjott is put in charge!  LOL!

I do not preach for compliments sake.  However, I received personal comments, phone calls, texts, and e-mails yesterday regarding Sundays two messages.  I am humbled and grateful for your encouragement.  I am blessed to serve with such wonderful people.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 2/25/13 UPDATED

Michael C. Beech passed away yesterday morning, 2/24.  His grown children used to ride the bus to church many years ago when they were children.  The visitation with the family takes place tomorrow, 2/26, from 11:00AM until noon at the Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, Alabama.  The service will begin at noon.  Pray for me as I prepare to preach that service.

It is not certain if we will do a meal for the family but, if we do, Cecil Guidry will be coordinating it.  Check back on the blog for an update once I hear something definite from Cecil.

Miss Edith Kelley suffered a heart attack last night.  It was not “major” in the sense that it did not cause her to change hospital rooms.  The medical folks were beginning the process today of placing her under hospice care.  Pray for Miss Edith, Bro. JB, Bro. Kerry, Danny and the entire Kelley family.

Tiffany Fox and Sherry Howell are on my list!  Folks, that is not a good place to be!  Mitchel Fox is in a local hospital and I was at that hospital this morning!  Did Tiff tell me yesterday at church?  No!

Sherry is making sure that I am the very last one to find out!  She knows that I am not a happy camper!

I saw Kevin Woods, Ronnie Glass, and Bill Goff in the respective hospitals today.  Bill was thinking that he may be discharged this afternoon but I do not know if that happened.

Blessings!

MONDAY, 2/25/13

We enjoyed another blessed day in our services yesterday.  It has been awhile since I literally preached my voice away.  (I may let Lisa go to preaching!)  Thank you for your faithfulness and thank God for the decisions made at the altar.

Lord willing, my plans are to see Kevin Woods, Ronnie Glass, Bill Goff and Edith Kelley in the hospitals today.  I also hope to visit Dawn Baria at home and a couple of folks in the convalescent home.

Folks, Easter is here!  Can you believe it?  Our high school/college age students taking part in the summer GRACE trips will be selling boston butts and ribs that will be available on Saturday morning, 3/30.  All proceeds go to help them on their respective trips.  Please consider helping them while enjoying some good food.  Pastor Mike Rowell will be the lead chef with an assist from Jim Chinners.  You can call the church office to place an order.

The GRACE team being led by Bro. Jerry will be having a yard sale on 3/7 – 3/9 to help support the ministry side of their trip.  You can contact Bro. Jerry for the details or to make a donation.

It is a little after 3:00AM as I type this and the rain is steadily falling on this hill.  It looks as though we are going to have a very wet Monday.  Be safe in your travels.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 2/24/13

Three important meetings take place today/tonight.  First, the deacons will meet with the pastor at 4:00PM in the pastor’s office.

Second, those taking part in the GRACE trip being led by Bro. Jerry (July 11 – 18) are asked to meet in the auditorium immediately following the evening service.

Third, those taking part in either of the GRACE trips being led by the pastor (June 13 – 20 or July 18 – 25) are asked to meet in the youth building immediately following the evening service.

Keep praying for Dawn Baria, Edith Kelley, Bill Goff and Ronnie Glass.

Dale & Karla are in Ohio today and Alisha is in North Carolina.  Pray for them as they minister.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 2/23/13 UPDATED

Visited with Miss Edith Kelley in the hospital around noon today.  She did not seem any better.  Said she was not feeling good at all.  She needs our prayers.

Bill Goff was admitted to the hospital this morning.  He has now been diagnosed with pneumonia.  Visited with him while he was still in the ER.  Pray for Bro. Bill and Miss Jackie.

After I got back from Mobile I had an e-mail from Teresa Ladnier telling me that Ronnie Glass has been admitted to the hospital. His kidneys are not functioning properly.  Pray for him.

Hope to see many members of the Friendship family in our services tomorrow morning and evening.

SATURDAY, 2/23/13

Miss Edith Kelley remains hospitalized.  I did not visit with her yesterday but have plans to do so today.  Keep praying.

Visited with Bobby & Dawn Baria and family yesterday.  They continue to need our prayer support.

I am asking our deacons to meet with me tomorrow afternoon at 4:00PM instead of the following Sunday.  There is a potential conflict with meeting the following Sunday.

We are on a regular schedule for tomorrow morning and evening.  Hope to see many members of the Friendship family in attendance.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

JODI JOHNSON’S FATHER PASSES FROM THIS LIFE

FRIDAY, 2/22/13

Lisa and I visited Miss Edith Kelley yesterday.  She is still undergoing tests. Keep praying.

Lisa and I also attended the funeral service for Sam Dixon, founder of Sam’s Superburger.  The ministers and grandson did a nice job in that service.

There is a meeting this Sunday night, 2/24, immediately following the evening service for everyone going on Bro. Jerry’s GRACE trip this summer.  You will meet in the auditorium.

Also, there will be a meeting for the folks going on either of the GRACE trips being led by me this summer.  That meeting takes place following the evening service this Sunday, 2/24, and will be in the youth building.  It is also for anyone who has outstanding Krispy Kreme coupons – those need to be turned in.  Jim Chinners will lead this meeting.

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday.  Lord willing, I will be in the pulpit all three services.  I hope to see many members of the Friendship family present for Sunday School, Discipleship Training and the services.

Dale & Karla are in Ohio this weekend doing ministry and Alisha is in North Carolina.  Pray for them!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.
