MONDAY, 3/31/08

First, thank you to those who prayed for us as we traveled to Michigan and back this weekend.  We left Byron Center, MI at 4:10PM (our time) and arrived home at 7:00AM which allowed me to get a shower and make it for the 8:00AM service.  God is good and we are thankful to Him for giving us traveling mercies.

We had another blessed day in our services yesterday.  What a joy to see Judy Creal come forward to make a public profession of faith after having prayed to receive Jesus during the Sunday School hour.  It was a like joy to baptize Darren Schoen during the evening service.  God gives the increase and we give Him the glory!

I am about to leave for Baton Rouge, LA in order to attend the funeral service for Mike Clark’s mother.  Ben Mallet’s grandfather, Billie Nobles, passed away and his funeral service is today at 2:00PM from Mobile Memorial.  Pray for these families!

Greg Boutwell’s brother, David, continues to be hospitalized and needs our continued prayers.  Carl’s Bradley’s brother, Bo, was sent home from the hospital.

The Friendship family voted last night to host a conference for 100 pastors in Guatemala this October.  The dates will be 7th – 9th.  This is something that I firmly believe God has led us to do and I am looking forward to being involved in this ministry.  More details forthcoming.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.  Pray for me as I travel to and from Baton Rouge.

WEDDING DAY – KIRA & DARYN

Kira Ellens & Daryn Kuipers will be united in marriage this afternoon  at 4:00PM in Byron Center, Michigan.  In my opinion, this is a fine young couple and I congratulate them on their wedding and marriage.  Pray for them as they begin their new life together.

FRIDAY, 3/28/08

*It is now 1:45PM and my niece, Jamie, just informed me that my post had not appeared.  Sorry about that – must have been asleep when I mistakenly thought I had posted.  Anyway, here is the entry from this morning!

Friday morning greetings from snowy Hamilton, Michigan. Yes, there is about one inch of snow on the ground.  We left Tillman’s Corner at 1:30PM yesterday, stopped in Decatur, Alabama to have supper with Adam, Jamie, & Grayson along with Spencer Cole.  We enjoyed bar-b-que at Big Bob Gibson’s and the time with family.  (Spencer thinks he is a Turrentine and based on his actions he may very well be)

Speaking of Grayson, he fell in a department store Wednesday afternoon and broke his right arm.  It is in a cast and he goes back to the doctor this morning to determine if surgery is needed.  He really was wishing his grandparents could be here with him during this crucial time but they choose to be in China!  I did my best to fill this void in his life but it just isn’t the same.  This accident further proves my point that shopping is dangerous and should be avoided at all cost!  (The doctor detemined that Grayson would be best served by not having surgery)

Back to the trip, we left Decatur around 8:15PM and headed north with the intention of stopping somewhere along the way and spending the night in a hotel.  After about four stops north of Indianapolis and no success at finding a room we just decided to drive all the way.  So, we dropped Chris & Nicole at the Genzinks and Lisa and I came to the Compagners.  I am about to try and catch a few hours of sleep.

I visited with David Boutwell and Bo Bradley yesterday morning.  Both of these men are in an intensive care unit.  Bo is recovering from his surgery while David continues to have some battles.  Please continue to pray for these men.

We received word yesterday morning that Miss Olean Anderson passed away.  This is Nellie Husband’s mother and Jason’s grandmother.  I don’t know the arrangements but do ask that you pray for the family.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 3/27/08

The Lord blessed and we had another good day in the Lord’s house yesterday/last night.  Wednesdays are very important days in the life of the Friendship family and I appreciate all of the teachers/workers who minister on those days.

Bo Bradley did well through his heart surgery.  David Boutwell, Greg’s brother, remains hospitalized and continues to need our prayers as he has several complications.  David Bosarge had a tough day yesterday in his recovery process.  Scott Eckert’s mother will have a procedure done in April to correct a problem with her heart.  Jennifer Brinkman gave birth to a boy on Monday and came home from the hospital yesterday.  The family of Miss Exie Woods is having to make some decisions as the rehab just isn’t proving to be effective.  Nicole Crawley’s great-grandmother, Mrs. Phillips, passed away and that service should be held within the next day or two.  Pray for all of these needs.

Kira Ellens and Daryn Kuipers are getting married this Saturday afternoon at 4:00PM in Byron Center, Michigan.  Daryn proposed to Kira last August while on our GRACE mission trip to Guatemala.  They, along with their families, are wonderful supporters of our GRACE Ministries.  So, beginning around 1:00PM today the next 66 hours or so will be a blur as Lisa, Chris & Nicole Taylor, and I will drive to and from MI with the intent of being back in Grand Bay by 7:00AM Sunday morning.  Pray for our traveling safety.

Lord willing, I will post at some point tomorrow if I have access to the internet.  I am not sure if Al has gotten it installed in Yankee land or not.

I pray that you will have a great day with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 3/26/2008

Yesterday was a busy, albeit productive, day for me.  I actually spent the vast majority of my time in the office trying to catch up on some things.  I went to Bryant last night and simultaneously watched the girl’s softball game versus MGM and the boy’s baseball game versus Murphy.  I didn’t stay for the duration of either game but did stay long enough to see Korie Fontenot hit a home run.  (Korie’s mother, Nanette, and I used to date so I am pleased when she does well!)

Carl Bradley’s brother, Bo, is having open heart surgery this morning.  I am not sure how many by-passes they plan on doing but do know he had multiple blockages.  Pray for Bo and his family during this time.

Kim French told me Sunday of her uncle being in the hospital.  This would be Greg Boutwell’s brother.  I apologize for not mentioning this earlier and ask that you join me in praying for him.  I will get an update today.

I don’t have an update on any of the other folks that I mentioned yesterday.  I did speak to Pastor Michael Mason via the phone last night and he shared that Jimmy Keenum has been sent home under hospice care.  Jimmy’s son, Tim, is a life long friend of mine and he serves as a pastor in Athens, Alabama.  Pray for Mr. Keenum and the family during these days.

Today is a normal Wednesday for us around Friendship.  It all begins with our 10:00AM service and then the Bible studies, choirs, classes, et cetera this evening.  I encourage all members of the Friendship family to join us for these opportunities.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus!

TUESDAY, 3/25/08

Why. . .  What. . .  When. . .  Didn’t you post?  Happened?  Are you going to post?  Those were some of the questions that came to me via personal contact, e-mails, and phone calls yesterday.  Sorry!  Suffice it to say that, among other things, my internet service was not available early yesterday morning (I have called Al about this) and then it was Monday all day.  There comes a point when I make a decision to simply wait until the next day to make an entry.  So, thanks for being concerned and for checking up on me.

Easter weekend at Friendship was awesome!  We had a good day on Saturday and I appreciate Bro. Benny, Josh, the teachers, bus workers, and all others who helped make the day a success.  I spent the morning making hospital rounds so I wasn’t present for the activities at the church but heard good things about what happened.

Our three morning services on Easter Sunday went well too.  The attendance was really good in all three services and the day was capped with the profession of faith and baptism of Kacie Skelton along with her mother, Belinda Skelton, joining the Friendship family by transfer of letter.  God gives the increase and we give Him the glory!

Bro. Kerry and the adult choir did a nice job of sharing throught the musical on Sunday evening.  I appreciate all of the hard work those folks put in to that musical.

Something totally unexpected happened to me over the weekend too.  It happened really fast as I was surfing the net.  Lisa, Dana, Gina, and I were able to purchase tickets to travel to China to visit my brother, Eddie, and his wife, Sue.  All eight of our deacons graciously gave their blessings on this trip as it was supposed to happen four years ago per the Friendship family but circumstances prevented that.  Isn’t God good?  Four years ago the ticket prices were such that the trip would have probably been me alone but now we purchased tickets on a direct flight from Atlanta for less than $600 per person.  ($596 is less than $600)  Amazing!  So, we will take eleven days in April and fly to Shanghai, Beijing, and Xingdao which is where Eddie & Sue live.  Pray that we will receive our tourist visas back from the Chinese consulate’s office in Houston in a timely manner as we sent our passports and applications to them yesterday.

David Bosarge is recovering at home from his surgery of last Friday.  He is uncomfortable but recovering.  Martha Patrick & Peggy Brett are being moved to convalescent homes today.  Carla Felps was in one of our services Sunday.  I think she has another chemo treatment today.  Pray for these folks.

Michael & Deidra left yesterday returning to Memphis.  However, they had a good weekend as they found a place to live when they move to Grand Bay in early July and Deidra had a job interview at a school in Pascagoula.  She will be back in a couple of weeks for another interview.  They will live here while Michael finishes his education before they move to the foreign mission field.  Pray that God will continue to guide their steps.

Rumor has it that Derrick & Jodie are about to become parents!  She looked so slim when I saw her a couple of weekends ago!  Pray for Derrick & Jodie!

Bret Hart, the hay is in the barn!  Mark Mast, call me at home tonight around 10:00PM.

I hope you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 3/21/08

As I have gotten up early this morning, the words that keep playing in my mind is “O hallelujah, o what a Savior!”  May none of us who belong to Jesus ever forget the supreme sacrifice He paid on this day to redeem us.  Redeemed how I love to proclaim it, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!  May those who don’t know Him come to Jesus today!

David Bosarge is having surgery this morning.  Please remember him during this time of surgery and then the recovery.   Pray for Vera and the family as they wait beside him.  Bro. Jerry took some time off yesterday in order to be with David’s family today during the surgery.

Teddy Jackson’s dad is doing well and will possibly go home this weekend.  Peggy Brett had a pacemaker put in yesterday.  They are trying to get Martha Patrick into the convalescent home for about twenty-one days.

I don’t know how many of our eight active deacons read this blog but would ask those who do to check their e-mail today.  You should have received an important message from me during the night.

Michael & Deidra arrived late last night to spend the Easter weekend with us.  Lisa and I are grateful to have all of our family with us during this special time.

Please don’t forget the Bible study/worship services/activities of tomorrow for our children.  Help can always be used!  It all begins at 9:15AM and ends around noon.  They need eggs, eggs, and more eggs!  Thank you in advance for your help!

I look forward to Sunday’s services.  Remember, those times are 7:30, 9:00, & 10:30AM and then the Easter cantata is at 6:00PM.

Remember Jesus today!

3/20/2008

Wow, it is hard to believe that the Easter weekend is upon us.  I am anticipating that God is going to continue to move in our midst and look forward to our various services.  We will have our Sunday School, preschool church, children’s church, and egg hunt on Saturday.  That will be followed by four services on Sunday – 7:30, 9:00, & 10:30AM and 6:00PM.  Of course, the evening service will feature the ministry of our adult choir.  I pray that each member of the Friendship family will be involved in these various ministry opportunities and worship services.

Martha Patrick, Peggy Brett, and Andy Jackson all remain hospitalized.  Miss Exie Woods remains in a physical rehabilatation facility.  David Bosarge is scheduled for surgery tomorrow.

March Madness begins today.  Our students filled out their brackets last night to see which one is the basketball guru.  Usually, some girl who can’t even spell basketball wins the honor and her basis for picking the winner is based on a team’s uniform color, mascot or cute players.  Go figure!  For what it is worth, I have picked UNC to be the eventual winner.  Sorry Bret but I don’t even have Memphis in my Final Four.

I hope you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 3/19/08

I would ask that you pray for Phyllis Bush and her family as they travel to Meridian, MS this morning for the funeral service for her mother, Mollie Maggard.  I am thankful to those who attended the visitation at Serenity last night and to those who helped with the food preparation for the family.  Friendship folks are the finest!

There have been no significant changes in any of the hospitalized folks with the exception of James Swann.  He was sent back to the convalescent home.  As far as I know, everyone else remains in the hospital.

I heard from Pastor Travis Northcutt yesterday.  He and his family are doing well.  I would ask you to join me in praying for him/them as he contemplates making a ministry move.  On April 13, he will be preaching in view of a call at a church in North Carolina.  His present church family is aware of this and have been great in their support of Pastor Travis trying to find God’s will for his life.

It is a normal Wednesday around here with our 10:00AM service and then all of the evening activities.  I hope the members of the Friendship family will join us.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

P.S. – Bret, stop searching for your golf balls long enough to send me the names of your GRACE participants!

TUESDAY, 3/18/08

Deidra just called to ask why I haven’t posted an entry today which was news to me since I posted at 2:15AM.  Don’t ask me what happened but I found that entry and here it is.  Something about insufficient postage!  I can make more than one mistak!

I can make a mistak!  Yesterday, I completely forgot to list Teddy Ray Jackson’s father as a prayer concern.  Mr. Jackson is above 80 years old and he had five (I think) by passes done on his heart last Thursday.  Teddy Ray called me late yesterday afternoon to tell me that his dad is improving.

Also, I did not realize that Marilyn Thomas’ mother, Peggy Brett, was still in the hospital.  Furthermore, I did not know that Martha Patrick had been admitted to a local hospital on Sunday afternoon.  Her brother, James Swann, remains hospitalized too.  Jay Black has a great uncle, J.P. Moore, who is not doing well physically either.  Please join me in praying for these various needs.

Pray for Phyllis Bush and her family as they deal with the passing of her mother, Mollie Maggard.  They will have a time of visitation tonight from 4:00 – 7:00PM at Serenity Funeral Home.  As I wrote yesterday, the service and burial will take place in Meridian, MS.

We have been blessed to have some absolutely wonderful folks from other churches and States join us on our GRACE trips.  One of the most delightful folks you will ever meet is Dr. Russ Mohney from Michigan.  He has taken part in our medical trip the past two years.  Today is his birthday – I think his 95th one!  I don’t think he is included in our readership which is up to 17 folks now but I wanted to wish Dr. Russ a happy birthday anyway!  If you see a seasoned doctor today who laughs a lot then wish him a happy birthday from me!

There was a fairly significant flood in Memphis, TN yesterday afternoon.  It was not because of the rainfall but rather it was caused by Bret Hart playing golf!  He hit so many balls into the water that the lakes got out of their banks!  You will not confuse Bret for Tiger!

I am cheating again this morning as it is 2:00AM and I decided to post before catching a few hours of sleep.  Rest assured, I will be fully awake by 6:45AM as that is when Cameron Watson gets into my vehicle each morning.  He knows one speed – wide open!

Pastor Travis Northcutt – are you still out there in cyberspace?

I pray that you will have a great day with Jesus!
