WEDNESDAY, 11/30/11

First, thank you to those who attended the visitation and/or funeral service for Miss Myrtle Stork yesterday.  Also, thanks to those who helped with the food preparation, serving, set up, clean up, et cetera.  You are great ministers!

Miss Maxine Dupont is in a local hospital with a respiratory problem.  Pray for her healing.

Our friend from Michigan, David Westhouse, will have hip replacement surgery on Wednesday, 12/14.  They originally thought his problem with with his back but now have determined the real cause of the pain is coming from his hip.  Pray for David as he prepares for this surgery.  David and his wife, Donna, are very committed to GRACE Ministries as they lead teams to Guatemala annually.

Upward basketball begins this Saturday, 12/3.  Pray for this ministry!

There will be a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Herbert & Peggy Benefield this Saturday, 12/3, from 2:00 – 5:00PM in the fellowship hall.  All members of the Friendship family are invited to attend!

I was wrong about the date for the children’s choir Christmas musical.  It takes place this Sunday, 12/4, at 6:00PM.

Our monthly deacons/pastor meeting will take place this Sunday, 12/4, beginning at 5:00PM.  We will not have Discipleship Training or AWANA’s during December.

Lisa and I will host a Christmas open house on Sunday, 12/11, from 3:30 until 5:30PM.  You are invited!  Light refreshments will be served!

We are on a regular schedule today and that will be true of every Wednesday through December 21.  I hope to see many of you in either this morning’s service or tonight’s activities.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/29/11

The visitation with the Myrtle Stork family takes place today from 10:00AM until the noon service time.  The visitation and service will take place from the Holder Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.  Pray for Bobby and family as they go through this time.

It is shortly after 5:00AM.  I will leave in a few minutes to open the fellowship hall for anyone needing to bring food early.  It will be open by 6:00AM.  Remember, all food for the Stork family needs to be in the fellowship hall no later than noon today.  Thanks for your help!

I did not realize that Xavier Blackwell remained hospitalized but he did come home yesterday.  Keep praying for him.  Also, pray for those who are battling cancer and going through the various treatments.

Scott & Jennifer Kirschenman’s son, Jason, has been in the hospital with kidney stones.  Jenni told me Sunday that they were going in to get the stone.  I will get an update from him today.

The open house Lisa and I are hosting on 12/11 is a “Christmas” open house.  We are doing this to celebrate Christmas with our church family and in response to folks asking to see the house with which the Lord has blessed us.  The time will be from 3:30PM until 5:30PM and it will be a “come and go” happening.  (Marisa does not know it but she is “leading” this with an assist from some of our Sunday School class ladies)  We hope many members of the Friendship family will join us for this celebration of the birth of Christ.

Wow, the Saints looked awesome last night.  I did not watch much but was impressed with what I saw.  However, I remain a college football fan!  Can you say “Go Sooners” this Saturday?

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/28/11

The arrangements for Bobby Stork’s mother are as follows – the visitation with the family will take place on Tuesday (tomorrow), 11/29, from 10:00AM until the noon service time.  The visitation and service will take place at the Holder Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Mississippi.  Pray for the Stork family.

Thanks to all those who have agreed to help with the feeding of this family.  You can bring the food to the fellowship hall anytime between 7:00AM and noon tomorrow.  Contact Miss Vinnie Brewer if you have any questions or need more information.

Bill & Debbie Kendrick’s daughter, Brandi Estes, lives in Alaska and has been having some serious health issues.  They have asked us to join them in praying for their daughter.  Bill & Debbie will visit Brandi and family for Christmas.

Keep praying for Xavier Blackwell as the doctors determine which course of action to take regarding his heart problems.

Sara Nell has asked me to share that anyone interested in ordering a poinsettia to be placed in the auditorium for Christmas that this must be done no later than Sunday, 12/11.  Payment must accompany the order.  The plants will be in the auditorium for two Wednesdays (14th & 21st) and one Sunday, 12/18.  Need more information?  Contact Sara Nell Moulds.

Lisa and I are going to host an open house on Sunday afternoon, 12/11, with the time TBA.  More details forthcoming.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 11/25/11

Miss Vinnie’s son-in-law, Hugh, remains in the VU hospital in CCU.  They placed a stent in one of his arteries yesterday.  Twenty two years ago, he had six by-passes and all of those are no longer proving effective.  He could be discharged from the hospital in a day or so.  Pray for him.

Bobby & Faye Stork spent the night in the hospital with Bobby’s mother.  Her condition really has not changed.  She is in a regular room now.  Keep praying.

The visitation for Chris Cavin’s grandmother’s family will take place tonight in Woodville, MS (go to Baton Rouge and head north).  The funeral is tomorrow.  I will either drive over tonight for the visitation or in the morning for the funeral.  Pray for the Cavin family.

Lisa and the girls left at 11:30PM last night to go shopping and returned home at 7:30AM – crazy!  However, she “saved” me tons of money!

Two years ago today our lives were changed forever as Titus Bradford Hutto came into this world.  Happy birthday Titus!  He is in Town Creek visiting Brad’s family over the Thanksgiving holiday.  Our lives have been enriched over these past two years as God has now blessed us with three grandchildren.

Arkansas versus LSWho today.  I am going for LSWho for my friend, Rusty Suthoff.  (Actually, I think that provides Bama with the best scenario)  Bama versus Auburn tomorrow.  My younger brother tells me that AU will protect their house so Bama should not even show up.  (He must watch too many commercials!)  We shall see!

I hope to see many members of the Friendship family in our services this Sunday, 11/27.  Lord willing, I will be there!

PRAYER REQUEST

It is 9:15AM on Thursday, 11/24, and I just received a phone call from Miss Vinnie Brewer requesting prayer for her son-in-law, Hugh.  He has suffered a heart attack and was originally taken to a hospital in Crossville, TN before being transported to Vanderbilt University.  They will be doing a heart cath and going from there.  Pray for Hugh, his wife, Shirley, and their family.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

On this Thanksgiving Day in 2011, I am thankful for – God (Father, Son, & Holy Spirit), family (wife, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, and other extended family – even Soy!), friends (too numerous to count), church family, friends of GRACE Ministries, country, military personnel (past and present), health, house, food, clothing, and the list goes on and on.

If you are reading this then know that I am thankful for you!

I am praying today for those who are gathering around the Thanksgiving table for the first time without a special someone present due to that someone’s passing.  May you find God’s grace sufficient!

CHRIS CAVIN’S GRANDMOTHER

Chris Cavin’s paternal grandmother passed away very unexpectedly this morning (Wednesday) in Woodville, Mississippi.  She was preparing the ingredients for a pecan pie and suffered a massive heart attack.  The visitation will take place on Friday night followed by the funeral service on Saturday morning.  Pray for the Cavin family.

CHURCH OFFICE

The church office will close at noon today and will be closed tomorrow for the Thanksgiving holiday.  As usual, the church office will not be open on Friday.  We will be open on Monday, 11/28, at 8:00AM.

If an emergency arises, please call me at home.  (If it is during office hours call me.  If it is like 2:00AM in the morning, call Bro. Jerry!  LOL!)

WEDNESDAY, 11/23/11

Visited with Bobby Stork in his mother’s ICU room yesterday afternoon.  Miss Stork continues to decline physically and the doctors do not believe there is any more they can do to help her.  Keep praying!

Also visited with Xavier Blackwell.  His mother, Amanda, says the doctor hopes he can gain some weight but will most likely need surgery soon regardless of his weight.  If surgery takes place, it will be in Birmingham.  Pray for Xavier and for the doctors to have wisdom regarding his situation.

Attended the funeral service for Larry Barnes’ father yesterday.  Larry’s sister also lost her husband over the weekend and that funeral service will take place today.  Pray for the Barnes family.

Herbert Benefield’s sister fell and broke her shoulder.  She is in a local hospital.  She will have surgery this morning.  Pray for her as she goes through surgery and the recovery.

Carla Kyser should be receiving another treatment today.  As far as I know, Chuck Rockwell and Earl Gunter are still receiving their respective radiation treatments.  Pray for these folks.

There are no services/activities at Friendship today/tonight.  We are on a regular schedule for this Sunday, 11/27.  Lord willing, I will be in all four services.

More than likely, I will not post again until Monday, 11/28.  I pray that you will have a Happy Thanksgiving day and a blessed weekend.  I pray that the members of the Friendship family who are in town will be in their rightful places this Sunday.  Thank you for being faithful!
