FRIDAY, 5/31/13, UPDATE II

It is 1:00PM.  Herbert Benefield just called to say that the doctor has completed the heart cath on Bro. Kerry.  He has multiple blockages (possibly 5) that are 80 – 90% blocked.  He will be sent home today and then scheduled for open heart surgery at some point next week.

Also, he has a problem with a valve.  The doctor said that without the blockages, they would most likely just keep an annual check on the valve.  However, since they will be doing the by-pass surgery, they will most likely repair the valve too.

After the doctor confers with a surgeon, he will call Barbara with more details.

Unless something changes, this will be the last update today on Bro. Kerry’s situation.  Pray for him.

FRIDAY, 5/31/13 UPDATE

It is 12:00PM.  Bro. Kerry continues to wait to be taken for his heart cath.  I went to the hospital around 8:00AM and stayed until 8:30AM or so.  Bro Jerry Hovel and his grandson, Gabe, were with Bro. Kerry as were Herbert & Peggy Benefield.  I prayed with Bro. Kerry and asked them to keep me posted.

Just talked to Herbert and it appears that Bro. Kerry is probably still a couple of hours away from his procedure.  He is “next” in line.  BTW, Barbara Kelley has taken sick and is not physically able to be with Bro. Kerry.

Also, Sanna Collier sent me a text to let me know that Eric’s father passed away during the early morning.  I asked if this was expected and she said “yes/no” as his health has been decline but not to the expected point of death.  I will post the arrangements once they have been finalized.

Pray for Bro. Kerry, Barbara, and the Collier family.

FRIDAY, 5/31/13

Bro. Kerry Kelley is scheduled to have a heart cath today (hopefully this morning).

Marisa Felps called yesterday afternoon to say that the report Carla received from the doctor regarding her scans was okay – not great news and not terribly bad news.  They found no new spots and will be tweaking her medications.  She still has been having problems with sores in her mouth.  She does have a broken bone just above her ankle and they put her in a boot.  Keep praying!

Had a nice visit with Miss Barbara Nevin.  Also, Tanya Love’s best friend came in the hospital room as I was leaving and we had a good conversation.  No change there.

Our Wednesday evening service/Bible studies/classes will begin at 6:30PM beginning this Wednesday, June 5.  Please note this time change.

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday morning/evening.  I pray that the members of the Friendship family will be faithful!

Soy did a good bit of mowing yesterday which greatly lightens my load today/tomorrow.  Has he helped in the garden?  Really?  The garden continues to be a place of solitude for me.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 5/30/13

We had good services yesterday/last night.  Our prayer times have become much more specific.  We are giving more time to pray and that is a good thing.

We announced a major change to our Wednesday night services and it begins next Wednesday, June 5.  Our Wednesday evening service/Bible studies/classes will now begin at 6:30PM.  This is taking place for several reasons with two of the main ones being our van ministry and children in school (August).  The extra thirty minutes will make a huge impact in both of these situations.

The funeral service for Miss Vivian Rhoads takes place today at noon from the chapel at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.  It will be preceded by an hour’s visitation with the family.  The burial will take place in Grand Bay.

Carla Kyser sees the doctor today regarding her recent scans.  She has a broken bone in one of her legs.

Chastity Touchstone and Courtney Hubbard both received treatments yesterday.

Bro. Kerry Kelley will have a heart cath tomorrow.

Tim Knighten’s step-mother, Marilyn, continues to need our prayer support.

Elizabeth McMann has a friend, Haylee, in Florida who is battling cancer.  They found a new spot on her brain and she is in ICU.  Pray for this young lady.

Need to hear from the couples who have been married for 50 years or longer.  We will recognize them in our 10:30AM service on June 9.  The sooner, the better but we must hear from them no later than next Wednesday, 6/5.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 5/29/13

Today is the final day to submit nominations for deacon.  You can give those, in writing, to Larry Whitehurst or me.

Also, today is the final day to let us know if you are going to participate in the Parent/Child Dedication this Sunday, 6/2.  This will take place during the 10:30AM service.  Call the church office between 8:00AM and 12:00PM or 1:00PM and 5:00PM.

Still need to hear from those couples married 50 years or longer.  Need that information by next Wednesday, 6/5, at the latest.  We will recognize those folks during the 10:30AM service on 6/9.

Visited Tanya Love, Barbara Nevin, and Craig Kirschenman yesterday.  Craig was discharged later in the day.  Miss Barbara was sitting in a chair eating breakfast.  No change in Tanya’s situation.

Carla Kyser had scans Monday and yesterday.  She will see the doctor tomorrow.

Chastity Touchstone is scheduled to have another treatment today.  The last treatment gave her a rough time.

Do not know if Baby Bailey had surgery or not yesterday.

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  I do not know what the menu is for the 8:00PM Bible study.

My sweet mother-in-law canned another 28 quarts of snap beans yesterday.  She makes sure that all of the work in the garden does not go to waste.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

CRAIG KIRSCHENMAN DISCHARGED

Earl called earlier this afternoon to share that Craig was discharged from the hospital and is at home.  When I visited this morning, he had his legs crossed in the bed which I took as a good sign.  He cannot support himself to stand or walk so, for now, he is limited to a wheelchair.  However, he is at home which makes him, Earl, Scott, Jennifer and the entire family happy.

I know that you join me in praising God for His work in Craig’s life.  Keep praying!

MISS VIVIAN RHOADS PASSES FROM THIS LIFE

Early this morning, Miss Vivian Rhoads, 94, passed from this life and entered Heaven.  She has lived in a convalescent facility for the past several years which means the newer members of the Friendship family did not know her.

The visitation with her family will take place this Thursday, 5/30, from 11:00AM until the 12:00PM service time.  Visitation and service will take place from the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Pray for her family as they walk through this valley.

MONDAY, 5/27/13

We must not forget our military personnel who have died on the battlefield.  Take some time today to remember and reflect on their service to this country.  Pray for the families of the fallen.

Our Memorial Day weekend Sunday was a very blessed day.  We saw one of the young men who prayed to receive Christ after the service last Sunday make his decision public in the 10:30AM service.  We also saw Rick, Beth, & Kristie Bradley join the Friendship family by transfer of letter.  (I say “welcome home” to this family)  We say “to God be the glory” for giving the increase.

Observing the Lord’s Supper in the morning services was special.  Jerry & Sharon Poiroux (there may have been others involved as well) did a nice job of getting things ready and the deacons served the elements flawlessly and quickly.  I have already received comments about how those services were a blessing.

The evening service and the fellowship that preceded it was very blessed too!  Dale & Karla did an awesome job and you blessed them financially.  Marisa and all of the folks who helped in any way did a great job!  The attendance was very strong.  You brought plenty of food even though Betty Clair only sent part of a strawberry pie – what is up with that!  Dale & Karla send their “thanks” and I join them in expressing that sentiment.

Baby Bailey Browning may have surgery today.  Craig K, Barbara N and Clyde C remain hospitalized.  I think Mitchel came home but Tiffany Dawn has not let me know.

Need to hear from parents who plan on participating in the Parent/Child Dedication service this Sunday, 6/2, at 10:30AM.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
