Robert Baria will be having surgery this morning.  He is scheduled for 9:30AM and prayerfully they will take him on time.  He is really in a lot of pain.  Pray!

Simone Felps’ father passed away and that visitation/service takes place tomorrow at Serenity.  Visitation at 10:00AM and service at noon.

If you are sponsoring a child at the ministry (feeding) center in Guatemala and have not done so already, please contact me immediately if not sooner!  Thanks!

Special thanks to each person who brought any items to help “pound the pantry” during the month of June – it was great!  Obviously, you can bring non-perishable food items any time to help with the food pantry.

I am considering two possible dates for our deacon ordination.  Need to talk to Kyle, Jeff & TJ about their schedules before setting anything in stone.  Sueanna’s due date has to factor into this decision as well.

Short week for the Friendship staff as the church office will be closed on Thursday in observance of Independence Day.  I will be the staff member on call over the holiday weekend as I do not have plans to be out of town.

We are on a regular schedule this Wednesday with the exception of no 7:30PM Bible study at the house.

Remember, we will be having a 10:30AM service only this Sunday, 7/6.  No Saturday night service, no 8:00AM or 6:00PM services on Sunday, no Sunday School or Discipleship Training, and no bus ministry service.

Deidra should post an entry on the GRACE blog at some point today.  Hopefully, that will include some pictures.

When does this World Cup thing end?  When does college football begin?

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 6/29/14

Today’s Bible reading –  2 Kings 15:1-16:20 Acts 19:13-41 Psalm 147:1-20 Proverbs 18:4-5

We are on a regular schedule this morning and evening.  Lord willing, I will be in the pulpit for all three services.

Our “pound the pantry emphasis ends today.  We will emphasize this ministry again as the need presents itself.  I encourage all those attending our services today/tonight to bring at least one non-perishable item to be placed in our food pantry.  It is not an exact science but it appears the 29ers brought at least double what the 39ers did!  Let’s finish strong!

Four men have been nominated to serve as deacons for the next three years beginning August 1, 2014.  Three of those men will be nominated tonight as a part of our evening service.  The four nominees are Kyle Bryant, Jeff Holifield, TJ Vice and Jerry Whitmore.  Pray, attend, and vote as the Lord leads.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church!

SATURDAY, 6/28/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 13:1-14:29 Acts 18:23-19:12 Psalm 146:1-10 Proverbs 18:2-3

Robin Corley is being discharged from the hospital today.

Our Saturday celebration service takes place tonight at 6:00PM.  Bro. Chris will be preaching.

Tomorrow is our last Sunday in June to “pound the pantry” by bringing non-perishable food items to be placed in our food pantry.  You can place those items in the auditorium foyer, hallway of the adult SS building or fellowship hall.

The Finance Committee is meeting tomorrow afternoon at 4:00PM.

The folks going on the July 10 – 17 GRACE trip with Bro. Jerry have a meeting tomorrow night immediately following the evening service.

We will elect three men tomorrow night to serve as deacons for three years beginning August 1, 2014.  The four nominees are Kyle Bryant, Jeff Holifield, TJ Vice and Jerry Whitmore.

Charles has been doing a really nice job of keeping the front forty mowed which is his yard, Rusty & C’s yard, the skating rink and the front orchard.  I was impressed.  Until yesterday!  He sent me a bill for his services!  Charging me $47 per hour labor plus the use of his equipment and fuel.  Are you kidding me?

Have not listened to Rusty’s favorite radio show, Finebaum, in months.  Listened for about five minutes one day this week and “Charles from Reeltown” came on ranting about the World Cup.  I found myself agreeing with CFR on some things which has never happened before – LOL!

Anyone have a hay rake?  Wow, my yard needs one!  Peas to be picked and yard work to be finished today.  Hopefully, the afternoon will provide some study time.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 6/27/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 10:32-12:21 Acts 18:1-22 Psalm 145:1-21 Proverbs 18:1

The visitation with the Unrue family begins this morning at 10:00AM and lasts until the noon service time.  Visitation and service take place in our auditorium.

Robin Corley remains in the hospital.  She may be discharged or possibly sent to a rehab center for therapy.

Robert Baria will be having surgery on Monday morning, 6/30.

The Friendship family will host the service at the Mission of Hope tonight.  I am not sure if it is going to be at the Mission or at our church.  (Someone who knows please post a comment on this entry)  Either way the service will begin at 7:00PM.  Contact Kenny Lingle if you need more information.

Help us “pound the pantry this Sunday, 6/29, by bringing non-perishable food items.  Boxes to receive these items are in the foyer of the auditorium, adult Sunday School building hallway and fellowship hall.

We will elect three men this Sunday evening to serve as deacons for three years beginning August 1, 2014.  Make this a matter of prayer.

Ok, so I listen to folks like Nicole C Taylor (up until June 9) and now Deidra Taylor complain about the “aches and pains” of  their respective pregnancies.  No more!  Alysia Montano is thirty four weeks pregnant and ran the 800 meters in the U.S. Track & Field Championships yesterday.  Her time was 2 minutes 32.13 seconds!  Are you kidding me?  That time is faster than one Chris or Soy could post!  Ladies, no more complaining about being pregnant, please!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 6/26/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 9:14-10:31 Acts 17:1-34 Psalm 144:1-15 Proverbs 17:27-28

The arrangements for Miss Bea Unrue are as follows – visitation with the family from 10:00AM until noon on Friday, 6/27 (tomorrow).  Service at 12:00PM (noon).  Visitation and service will take place in our church auditorium.  Bea will be buried in Mobile Memorial Gardens.  Pray for Bill and the family during this time.  Bea was a sweetheart!

Robin Corley remains hospitalized.

Soy, Deidra, Lizzi & Sydney are in Guatemala.  Deidra blogged on the GRACE blog yesterday and added a picture.  Short and to the point but you will get the idea.  I think she plans on blogging every Monday, Wednesday & Friday.  Dana & Gina along with Haley Rae Garnett and Stephanie Guidry are also in Guatemala for various lengths of time.  (Haley Rae could be a Davis by the time she gets home!)

This Sunday evening, 6/29, the Friendship family will elect three men to serve as deacons for three years beginning August 1, 2014.  The four nominees are Kyle Bryant, Jeff Holifield, TJ Vice and Jerry Whitmore.  Make this a matter of prayer.

We have one more Sunday in our “pound the pantry” emphasis for June.  If you buy groceries over the next day or two, please consider picking up an item or two to donate.

SEC! SEC! SEC!  Way to go Vandy!  Their baseball team won it all last night defeating UVA.  I do not like watching baseball but I did watch almost all of that game and cheered for the Dores like they were Bama.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 6/25/14

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 8:1-9:13 Acts 16:16-40 Psalm 143:1-12 Proverbs 17:26

I was awakened several times during the night thinking about Miss Bea Unrue.  She was such a valuable member of the Friendship family.  She and Bill were married for just under sixty three years so you know he is really going to miss his sweetheart.  Arrangements pending.

Regular schedule today/tonight minus the late Bible study at our house.

Go on Vandy!  I do not even like to watch baseball but I did watch some of the game last night in hopes the SEC would win it all.  I predict the Hoos will win it all tonight but I hope the Dores prove me wrong!  Go SEC!

Was in the pea patch yesterday afternoon and had three visitors.  First was Lee Fore coming to “borrow some money until payday” or something like that.  Talked to me for about thirty minutes but had that Bernard Suthoff approach – never bothered to pick the first pea!

Shortly thereafter, John Milton & Lane walked up.  John did not come to borrow money but came bearing gifts i.e. okra, tomatoes, and peppers.  What a nice gesture!  Of course, it did not take long for Charles to show up to see what John had given us and he took over half of it home with him!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
