MONDAY, 9/30/13

TJ sent me an e-mail during the night to share that Lindsey’s maternal grandmother, Miss Parker, passed from this life last night.  The arrangements are incomplete and will be posted here once they are finalized.  Pray for the Parker family.

Miss Joyce Davie was able to have the vent tubes taken out yesterday morning.  She was having some problems with her heart last night so she and the family continue to need our prayer support.

The visitation with the Arlene Crawley family takes place tonight from 5:00 – 8:00PM from our church auditorium.  The funeral service takes place tomorrow morning at 11:00AM also from our auditorium.  Pray for the Crawley family.

Tim Knighten’s father has been diagnosed with a malignancy.  This was recently discovered so they do not know all that is going to be involved in the treatment.

Amy Huhn’s mother continues her battle against cancer.  She received some encouraging news this past week as they have a treatment that can be done in Mobile.

Shawn Burwell came home from the hospital this past weekend.  He wanted to attend church yesterday but Nikki would not let him do so.

Paul Seymour joined the Friendship family by transfer of letter during our second morning service yesterday.  We thank God for His blessings.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 9/27/13

Nanette Fontenot called around 6:30PM or so last night to let me know that Tyrone, Terry & Michael’s mother, Miss Arlene, had taken a turn for the worse.  Her problem is related to her lungs.  Long story short – they had removed the vent and she was doing good.  The doctor says that she needs to go back on the vent and she, as of last night when I was there, has made the decision not to do so.  So, she would most likely be listed as critical at this point.

Brenda’s mother, Miss Joyce, is in NICU.  I visited yesterday morning and the doctors seem to have no answers as to why/how she has gotten to this point.

Shawn Burwell was moved from CCU to the step down unit yesterday which is progress.

Jodi & Bella are scheduled to arrive home this Sunday morning.  Pray for safe travels.

Dylon Westbrook and Elizabeth McMann have invited the Friendship family to their wedding ceremony which takes place tomorrow, 9/28, from the home of Brian & Lisa Bellknap.

The Finance Committee will have copies of the 2013-14 proposed budget available this Sunday morning following the services.  A meeting will take place at 4:00PM to discuss, amend, et cetera the proposed budget.  A vote, with no further discussion, to adopt the proposed budget will take place in the evening service.

Our deacons will meet this Sunday, 9/29, in the adult Sunday School building.  Not sure which room.

How about the games this weekend?  I predict AU will not lose and I feel pretty safe with that pick.  I think UGA will prevail over the Bayou Bengals due largely to the fact that the game is in Athens.  I have to take the Tide over the Black Bears.

When Nanette called last night, she mentioned how she would like to go to the hospital and hinted that we could possibly ride together – wow!  She simply cannot let go of the past!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus!

THURSDAY, 9/26/13

Received an e-mail from Miss Camp last night to share that Brenda Timberlake’s mother, Miss Joyce, has been moved to CCU.  Pray for Mr. Jack, Brenda, Lisa and the entire family.

Tyrone gave us an update on his mother’s condition in church last night and the report was encouraging.  She remains in CCU.

Nikki also gave me an update on Shawn and he is doing good.  Was supposed to receive dialysis last night.  He too remains in CCU.

Janice & Juanita’s mother, Miss Mazie, is now scheduled to have surgery on Monday, 9/30.

Rachel Jackson’s father, Mr. George, was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon and was kept for observation.

Amy Walker’s grandmother, Miss Brown, is in ICU and is not doing well.

Bro. Kerry’s brother, Dan, had surgery yesterday and his niece, Natalie, is in the hospital.

Edna’s brother, James, is in the hospital.

Leslie Williams posted a comment on yesterday’s post updating Bailey’s condition.

Learned yesterday that Miss Carol Fletcher has spent some time in the hospital but she did not let us know.  She is home now.

The Friendship family will lead the service at the Mission of Hope tomorrow night.  Jim Chinners will preach and Jeanette Bates will sing.  Service begins at the mission at 7:00PM.  Everyone is invited.

Invitations to the Saturday wedding of Elizabeth McMann and Dylon Westbrook were placed in the auditorium foyer which means the Friendship family is invited.  I will get the details today and post them tomorrow.  I do know it will take place at the home of Brian & Lisa Bellknap in the Union Church community.  Bro. Chris will be the officiant.

Good services yesterday/last night – glory to God!  The 7:30PM Bible study group was treated to a “feast fit for a king” last night – wow!  You talk about good!  It was fabulous!  The family who provided the meal wants to remain synonymous!  It was a good break for Lisa and very much appreciated by us!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 9/25/13

Shawn Burwell made a remarkable recovery yesterday morning.  When I went in with Nikki at 9;30AM, he was awake, alert, talking and doing good.  Talked to Nikki last night via the phone and, while he remains in CCU, he is doing good.  Thanks for praying!

Visited Miss Arlene Crawley yesterday morning.  She had a triple bypass and the doctor repaired a valve.  She is doing good but also remains in a unit.

Brenda Timberlake’s mother, Miss Joyce, remains hospitalized and is not doing so well.

Janice & Juanita’s mother, Miss Mazie, did not have surgery yesterday but “may” have it today.  The surgery will be on her ankle but they are battling an infection before doing the procedure.  She was in good spirits.

Heard last night that Baby Bailey in Alaska has taken a turn for the worse as there is a problem with her lungs.  Leslie W – give us an update, please.

The Finance Committee has a proposed budget ready.  Copies will be distributed this Sunday morning, 9/29, following the morning services.  A meeting to discuss, amend, et cetera the budget will take place at 4:00PM in the auditorium.  A vote, with no more discussion, will take place during the evening service hour.

TUESDAY, 9/24/13 UPDATED

It is a little before 6:00AM and I just spoke to Nikki Burwell.  Shawn has not awakened following his surgery and is on a ventilator.  He is taking no breaths on his own.  They think he has had a seizure and possibly a stroke.  I will be heading that way soon to visit with Shawn and Nikki.  Pray!

TUESDAY, 9/24/13

Shawn Burwell ended up having a double by-pass yesterday and did well through the surgery.  I was with him early and then Bro. Jerry sat with Nikki during the actual operation which I appreciate.

Tyrone, Terry & Michael’s mother, Miss Arlene, did well through her surgery too as far as I know.  Pastor David Jones was there with the family and I went by and stayed until she was taken off by-pass.

Visited with Miss Joyce Davie.  Her condition has not improved.  She is a really sick lady who needs our prayers.

Janice & Juanita’s mother, Miss Mazie, “may” have surgery today per Bro. Jerry.

Our Finance Committee is meeting and will present a proposed budget this Sunday, 9/29.  TJ Vice is the chairman, Larry Whitehurst the vice-chairman and Rita Boutwell the secretary of that committee.  Pray for them as they seek the Lord in this area.

We are on a regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  The 7:30PM Bible study group will have a special treat when it comes to the meal.  I do mean real special.  We have “synonymous” folks providing the meal!  You do not want to miss it!

Does Joe David really believe the NFL game last night was better than the college games of Saturday?  Please!  That CSU vs Bama game was must see tv!  What is JD thinking!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 9/23/13

Shawn Burwell is scheduled to have triple by-pass surgery this morning at 10:00AM.  This will be a serious procedure for him and I ask that you pray for him, the surgeon, Nikki, and the entire family.

Miss Arlene Crawley is also scheduled to have heart surgery this morning.  It is undetermined exactly how many by-passes she will have but most likely three or four along with some other work.  Pray for her, the surgeon, Tyrone, Terry, Michael and the entire family.

Janice & Juanita’s mother, Miss Mazie, remains hospitalized.  Their sister, Emogene, continues day by day in her battle against cancer.

Brenda Timberlake’s mother, Miss Joyce, remains in the hospital.

Lindsey Vice’s maternal grandmother continues to be day by day in her battle against cancer.  She is at home.

Charlie Wainwright’s nephew, Derek, was hospitalized with fluid around his heart and they were going to have to drain it off.  Do not know if that has happened already or not.

Courtney & Blakeley came home from the hospital on Saturday.  They are both doing good.

We were blessed with another good day in our services yesterday.  Five baptisms in our evening service and one by letter in our second morning service.  God gives the increase and we give Him the glory.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
