TUESDAY, 6/30/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 17:1-18:12 Acts 20:1-38 Psalm 148:1-14 Proverbs 18:6-7

Happy eighth wedding anniversary to Brad & Daphne!  (Wow, I almost break into a cold sweat thinking about the Summer of 2007!)  Anyway, I hope Brad & Daphne have a great day!

Eula Mae Blackmon did good through her surgery.  I will visit her this morning.  It is still not totally clear whether she will stay in rehab or come home.

Infant Hunter Brewer is in a local hospital too.  He will be there at least through this Friday per his mother.

Prayer meeting tonight from 5:00 – 7:00PM in the auditorium.  Come and pray.  Matters not whether you come for five minutes or two hours.  Please use the West side door to enter/exit.  Let’s finish the month of June on a high note with our prayer ministry.  Lord willing, I will be there for the first ninety minutes.

TNBA tonight beginning at 7:00PM.  I have a scheduling conflict but hope to be there by 7:30PM which is basically my regular time to show up any way.  Will Johnny Five & Bradley Phillips get over their “fears” and show up?

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.

By the way, there is a new alarm system in the auditorium and in the adult Sunday School building and it is active.  You will need to know the code before being the first one to enter either of those buildings upon unlocking them.  Otherwise, you will have a really loud siren going off and a nice deputy pulling up to greet you!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Sunday, 7/5 – 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:17 Acts 23:11-35 Psalm 3:1-8 Proverbs 18:14-15

Wow!  To God be the glory!  The Lord blessed and we had an absolutely wonderful day in our services yesterday!  The attendance in all three services was very good!  Tyler Peters came forward during the evening service making a public profession of faith and desiring to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism.  Dale did a nice job of preaching the Word  in the evening service.  You graciously gave an amazing love offering to Dale & Karla.  (I will put the total in my letter this week but if you want to know beforehand simply send me an e-mail and I will reply)  Just a great way to end the month of June.  God is good!

Eula Mae Blackmon is having surgery this morning.  She is scheduled for mid-morning which could be any time between then and mid-afternoon.  Pray that all goes well.

Willie Johnson’s brother, Ross, is not expected to live much longer per the medical personnel.  Pray for Ross and the family.

Ross Genzink’s (Michigan) dad is having heart (triple by pass) surgery this morning so pray that goes well.

Keep praying for Robin Corley, Jimmy Moates, Becky Sellers, Lisa Thompson & Eddie Whitmore in their respective battles against cancer.  I believe Jimmy is getting a feeding tube today and Becky has scans on the 17th.

Wanda told me yesterday that Stella Brinkman’s heart has gone back into afib.  Do not know the details.  One would think that her granddaughter, Katie Tillman, would keep me informed but she does not even come to Sunday School so what do you expect?

Courtney Cavin’s nephew, Connor, goes back the doctor in Philadelphia, PA this Friday.

Remember, the church office will be closed this Thursday, 7/2, for the 4th.  However, I will be working that day as there are at least two surgeries scheduled – one early AM and one in the afternoon.

We will have one special service this Sunday, 7/5, beginning at 10:30AM.  That will be it for the day.  My prayer is that we will be SRO in that service.  If you are going to be in town, please make plans to join us.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 6/28/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 13:1-14:29 Acts 18:23-19:12 Psalm 146:1-10 Proverbs 18:2-3

I would ask you to continue to pray for those battling cancer.  Robin Corley should certainly be at, or near, the top of your list.  She remains at home with her daughter, who is a RN, serving as her caregiver.

We are on a regular schedule this morning and evening.  My prayer, as always, is that the members of the Friendship family will be faithful.  Faithfulness comes with spiritual maturity.

After a long time in prayer this past Friday, I felt strongly impressed to ask Dale Bosarge to preach in our 6:00PM service.  We are going to receive an offering to help in the ministry the Lord has given him.  June has been a very slack month and this will provide us the opportunity to support him with a love offering.  Make plans to join us for tonight’s service and come prepared to be a blessing.

This is a big day for me as Lisa, Dana & Gina will be arriving home from Guatemala.  The month of June has been “different” as Lisa and I have seen each other for about four or five days total.  So, I will be really glad to see my wife and our girls.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church.

SATURDAY, 6/27/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 10:32-12:21 Acts 18:1-22 Psalm 145:1-21 Proverbs 18:1

I really do not have any updates on any of the folks for whom we have been praying.  Nothing has changed in regards to Helen’s surgery and recovery.  Pray for Betty Clair today and tomorrow as Ross has to work.

I appreciate those twenty five folks from the Friendship family who went to the Mission of Hope last night.  John Milton Ladnier did a nice job of sharing the Gospel and Larry Blackwell gave an assist.  Those twenty five folks took a truck load of food for the men to eat and they certainly enjoyed themselves doing so.

This morning, Bro. Benny and the bus workers invite folks to come join them for a time of prayer beginning at 8:30AM in the CAB.  You are not required to go out on visitation with them but simply come and pray.

We are on a regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  We are in the midst of the Summer when folks tend to forget the source of their blessings.  I pray that the members of the Friendship family will be faithful to attend, to give, to serve.

Folks, we are living in the last days.  You are thinking, “because of the SCOTUS ruling yesterday?”  That can certainly be a huge part of it but that is not what I am talking about in this instance.  Yesterday, Soy helped me cut grass.  No big deal as he and Charles have done extremely well in doing so this entire mowing season.  However, Soy used the push mower!  I am telling the Gospel truth!  I was impressed!  What will happen next?

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 6/26/15 (UPDATED)

I am going to be out of pocket the rest of the day so I wanted to give an update on Helen’s surgery.  (Mainly so Elizabeth Westbrook will stop bombarding me with questions!)  Surgery went well and Helen had no complications.  She did get sick to her stomach afterwards which is fairly common.  She has a cast on her foot/leg from just below the knee.

I was also able to attend another surgery while at the hospital.  That surgery went well too.  Do not know if I have permission to blog a name.  Grateful that everything was good.

I am sick!  I got word of the SCOTUS ruling when I got back to Grand Bay.  Sick, just sick!  God help us!

FRIDAY, 6/26/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 9:14-10:31 Acts 17:1-34 Psalm 144:1-15 Proverbs 17:27-28

Little Helen Hatcher will have surgery early this morning.  Wow, her life has been really turned upside down (for the better) in the past couple of months.  I can only imagine what is going through her mind.  She is certainly blessed to have Ross & Betty Clair as her parents.  Pray for Helen!

Thank you to each person who attended the visitation for Gary’s sister’s family yesterday and for those who helped with the meal.

Mission of Hope tonight beginning at 7:00PM.  Bus leaves the church at 6:15PM.  Everyone invited.

Regular schedule this Sunday morning and evening.

Church office closed next Thursday, 7/2, for the Fourth.  Will reopen on Monday, 7/6, at 8:00AM.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 6/25/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 8:1-9:13 Acts 16:16-40 Psalm 143:1-12 Proverbs 17:26

The visitation with the Debbie Reed family (Gary Walton’s sister) takes place this morning from 10:00AM until the noon service time at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore.  Folks helping with the meal should have it in the fellowship hall no later than noon today.  Pray for this family.

Jimmy Moates is scheduled to receive a feeding tube in early July but the hopes are he can receive it earlier.

Little Helen Hatcher will have surgery in the morning.  They will be clipping her achilles tendon.  She will then be in a cast for three weeks.

Visited with Robin Corley yesterday.  She is not in any pain.  Her attitude is good.  Her family members are doing a really good job of caring for her.  She certainly needs our prayers.

Eddie Whitmore goes for another treatment today.  It is my understanding that he will then have a week off before doing the same routine again.

Keep praying for Zach as he continues to minister in San Francisco.  Per his mother, Amy, the group is not being well received but that was the expectation.  (Just pray that the girl he finds to be his bride is sweet!)

Jace Wilkinson is on his way home for two weeks.  If all goes as planned, he should be in our services this Sunday.  Pray for Raymond & Tina as they travel to Georgia to bring him home.

Dale & Karla begin a busy July starting this Monday.  Camps, camps and more camps.  Pray for them!

We had a good day in our services yesterday.  Really nice number in the morning service.  Ditto for the 7:30PM Bible study.  Pizza Hut did a nice job of feeding that crew last night.  Thanks to Brianne Seymour and any others who helped with the clean up.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 6/24/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 6:1-7:20 Acts 15:36-16:15 Psalm 142:1-7 Proverbs 17:24-25

I was called to the hospital by Gary Walton yesterday morning as his sister was going to be removed from life support.  That became a reality later in the afternoon and she passed from this life very soon thereafter.  Two of her sons work with Gary installing pools and have been to our house many times over the past several years.  Gary and the sons will meet with the funeral director this morning with the hopes of having a service tomorrow, 6/25, at noon from Serenity Funeral Home.  Pray for the family during this difficult time.

While I was standing in the hospital hallway waiting with Gary’s family, I saw Michelle Stork and Jamie Moore Creel.  Jamie told me of their house being struck by lightning on 6/9 and the extensive fire damage that it caused.  Their youngest daughter had come to our VBS that day and they were very grateful she was not at home.

I also saw Anna Marie Morgan and asked about her parents, Steve & Ashley.  Steve was actually in the hospital having a heart cath.  I visited briefly with him afterwards and everything was ok for him.

Jerry & Gloria Whitmore contacted me via a phone message and e-mail late yesterday afternoon to tell me that Robin Corley’s doctor has given her a grim prognosis.  Lord willing, I will be visiting her later today.

Rusty told me yesterday that, because Becky Sellers has not been having adverse side effects from the chemotherapy treatment, they are going to continue that course for another six treatments or so before beginning radiation.

Keep praying for Jimmy Moates.  He continues to be at home.

Don Bates passed away.  His daughter, Jodie, and my wife, Lisa, were best friends in high school.  There will be a visitation tomorrow night, 6/25, from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Serenity Funeral Home.

I was at the hospital until almost 5:00PM yesterday which means I did not get to our prayer meeting until 5:40PM.  If you came prior to that, please let me know for my records sake.  I apologize for my lateness.

Speaking of being late, I have not been posting as early as normal and three of our thirteen readers have been hammering me!  I apologize and will try to do better.

Regular schedule this morning and tonight.  The fare for the 7:30PM Bible study will be something purchased and brought in as my wife is out of town.  I am not a cook.

How did the TNBA go last night?  I will just say this – I pulled out my “surprise” and the score of the first game that I participated in was 9 – 3 and only took about five minutes to complete.  Evidently Johnny Five, TJ Vice, Bradley Phillips, Joey Guidry, Randall Broome, Marcus Hatcher and others got wind of what was coming as they all stayed away.  I will just end it there.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 6/23/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 4:18-5:27 Acts 15:1-35 Psalm 141:1-10 Proverbs 17:23

Made a hospital visit yesterday morning and that person was doing well and expected to go home later in the day.  Not sure if that happened or not.

Had a really good time visiting with the folks in the convalescent home as I had missed the previous two weeks due to being in Guatemala.  A couple of folks were fast asleep but everyone else was doing well.  I always go to Miss Wittner first to get the scoop and she said all was well.

Pastor Keith Martin asked that we pray for his wife, Andrea, as he had to take her to the hospital on Sunday night.  She has been diagnosed with diverticulitis.

Prayer meeting tonight from 5:00 – 7:00PM.  I have missed the past two Tuesdays and it seems like an eternity to me.  Lord willing, I will there tonight for the entire time.  Come join me.  Come and go or come and stay – just pray!

TNBA tonight too!  We begin at 7:00PM.  I have missed about three or four weeks but, Lord willing, will be back full force tonight.  I even have a little surprise that is going to make me that much more effective.  With Paul being gone, no one will be able to stop me!

Wow, what a storm we had yesterday afternoon.  I was mowing and it forced me inside.  The rain would not have been an issue but the lightning and I do not get along.  Thank God for the rain.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.
