FRIDAY, 3/2/12

As you know, I was out of pocket all day yesterday so I do not have any updates but do not think anything significant has happened.

Sharon Jardee meets with a surgeon today to determine when she will have surgery. Carla Kyser has scans Monday and Wednesday before her next treatment on Thursday.  Peggy Knighten did well through her surgery and is recovering at home.

Adam Glenn says that I jinxed the Faith Academy basketball teams as both teams lost in the semi finals yesterday afternoon.  I halfway expected the boys to lose but I was surprised that the girls got beat.  I have to give it to Brewer as they kept their cool after getting down early and just stayed with it until finally taking the lead very late in the game.

Dylan Brown played very well for the FA boys.  He used to ride to FA with us before he got his driver’s license.  Good young man!

We are on a regular schedule this weekend.  Sunday is the last day to sign up for the webinar set for 3/10 from 10:00AM until 1:30PM with a lunch included.  There is no cost for this webinar.

Our deacons meet at 4:00PM this Sunday and our Trustees meet at 5:00PM.  Both meetings will take place in my office.

I am asking our SS class members to each bring a bag of rice to Sunday School this Sunday for the crisis closet.

We will be in the beatitudes on Sunday morning and Revelation on Sunday night, Lord willing.

I pray your weekend with Jesus will be great!  Go to church!

THURSDAY, 3/1/12

Wow, is it really March already?  Are you kidding me?

We had a blessed day in our services yesterday.  Our “souper” “potluck with the pastor” went very well.  Those folks brought enough soup to feed Carter’s army (I do not know who Carter is or how many folks are in his army but that is a phrase I have heard all of my life!).  Marisa Felps, Caroline Ford, Ann Clark, and Lisa did an outstanding job of preparing the trimmings and the desserts!  The fellowship was great!  Our next “pwtp” will take place on 3/28.

Our prayers go to the four families who have men involved in the crash of the Coast Guard helicopter.  We need to pray daily for the men and women of our armed forces.

Pastor Clint Landry and the folks at 1st Baptist Bayou La Batre also need our prayers as their auditorium was damaged by fire yesterday afternoon.  I do not know the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage but it will most likely be significant.

Marisa Felps’ father, Mr. Frank Boykin, has been diagnosed with a malignancy.  He will meet with an oncologist next Friday, 3/9, to discuss a course of action.  Pray for him.

I am driving Dana & Gina along with two of their friends from school to Birmingham today to watch the Faith Academy girls basketball team and the boys basketball team play in the Final Four of the high school state tourney.  The girls team has an excellent chance to win it all.  The boys could but they probably have a tougher road.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.
