WEDNESDAY, 6/6/12

Happy birthday to our oldest daughter, Deidra!  How old is she today?  Well, I cannot publish that information but she is no longer eligible, age wise, to be in our SS class!  Wow, I remember her birth like it was yesterday!

Ted Ezell is scheduled to have surgery this morning.  Pray that everything goes well.  Hopefully, this surgery will allow him stand in a more upright position.

Brittney Nelson has been put on complete bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy.  If everything goes as planned, they will induce labor on Friday, 6/22.

Edna Glover’s brother, Henry Miller, is seemingly close to death.  They called the family in last week not expecting him to live but a couple of days.  He is at home in the Laurel, MS area and is under hospice care.  Pray for Henry and his family

Visited with Gunnar yesterday morning.  He is doing good and should be discharged from the hospital on Sunday.  Keep praying!

Lisa’s mother, Ann, has been diagnosed with a malignancy.  She goes back to the doctor today to chart a course of action i.e. to determine which surgical procedure will be used.  The diagnosis was made last Thursday so she has had a week to think and pray about this.  Pray that she will be at peace with her decision.

NO services/classes/activities tonight!  This includes the 8:00PM Bible study.  Please pass the word!  Important!

Bro. Jerry, Bro. Kerry, & Bro. Chris will be off this afternoon as they will be involved in VBS on Friday morning.  If you need anything this afternoon, contact me.

I cannot believe that I am about to write this but there is a pretty big part of me that is glad to see the Heat down 3-2 to that team from the New England area.  I am still in hopes that the WC team will destroy either team in the Finals but if the Heat are not there that will be sweet!

It is 5:30AM and Lisa is screaming for me to get to the garden so I have to go!  LOL!  Plus, I need to try to get an e-mail out  to our 20-29 years old SS class.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 6/5/12

It is of most importance that folks help get the word out that we are NOT having any services/Bible studies/classes tomorrow (Wednesday) morning or evening (this includes the 8:00PM Bible study).  This is something we are doing on a trial basis this year due to VBS in order to help our workers and to keep the rooms strictly VBS for the week.

I drove a VBS bus yesterday morning but was then gone for the rest of the day so I do not have a Day One report.  I will just say that we probably had more than fifty  and less than one thousand in attendance.  I will do better with a report tomorrow.

Lisa and I attended Katie Tillman’s great grandmother’s funeral service yesterday.

Gunnar remains hospitalized.  I plan on seeing him this morning in between my bus driving times.

I only wish that I was like Dr. Jack Bailey and would have had a camera with me late yesterday afternoon.  Soy (yes Soy) and Deidra actually got in the pea patch with Charles and me.  I felt like Ruth!  I simply came behind Soy picking those he left behind – he would pick one, leave four!  We are picking purple hull peas so Soy was singing the Barney song to help him remember the color.  At least he was there!  Charles & Ann are doing a great job of shelling/freezing the peas.

Levi, the Spurs are done!  OKC is on the rise which makes Joe David (who is a regular blogger now) very happy.  JD, would there be a direct correlation between the Thunder’s winning streak and your commitment to blogging?  Just sayin’!

I hear the okra growing so I had better head that way so I can get to the VBS bus before I hear Myrtle screaming at me!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus!

MONDAY, 6/4/12

IMPORTANT – we will not have any of our regular services this Wednesday morning or night due to VBS.  No 10:00AM, 6:00PM or 8:00PM Bible studies, classes, et cetera.  As a matter of fact, the church buildings are in “lock down” mode this week so we can leave the VBS rooms intact.  Translated – no sports in the CAB, no meetings in the other buildings, et cetera.

Vacation Bible School begins this morning at 9:00AM.  Pray for the workers and children.

We were blessed with a good day yesterday – thanks be to God!  Our 8:00AM attendance continues to increase.  The proverbial icing on the cake was to see Nanette Stephens make a profession of faith in that service.  God is good!

Gunnar Howell remains hospitalized.  Bill Kendrick’s sister-in-law did not have gall bladder surgery this past Friday night.  She will see the doctor today.  Katie Tillman’s great grandmother’s funeral service takes place this morning.

My sister-in-law, Sue, came for a visit yesterday afternoon and then attended church with us last night.  We were excited to see her until we realize she had only come to borrow money!

Bill Kendrick’s Celtics made him happy again last night although they almost blew it!  Bama is in the WCWS finals for the first time ever.  Samford made a nice run in the NCAA baseball regional.  Bama came o so close in the NCAA men’s golf championship.

The okra patch and the VBS bus are calling my name!  I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 6/2/12

Katherine Michelle Timberlake made her debut into this world last night around 6:00PM.  She checked in weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces and is 20 inches long.  Drew & Andrea are very proud first time parents.  Mark & Brenda Timberlake are very proud grandparents.  Andrea had some issues with her blood pressure being elevated before and after the delivery so they kept in her L&D overnight.  Pray that will correct itself.  Congratulations to Drew, Andrea and their families!

The visitation with the Lynn Davis family takes place today from noon until the 2:00PM service time at the First United Methodist Church.  The obit in yesterday’s paper listed the beginning time incorrectly.

Bill Kendrick’s sister-in-law was set to have gall bladder surgery yesterday afternoon/last night.  Pray for her and the family.

I guess Amy has not come to her senses yet so the wedding set for today is still on.  It begins at 2:00PM in the church auditorium.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 6/1/12

Katie Tillman’s great grandmother passed away early yesterday afternoon.  Pray for that family.

Drew & Andrea Timberlake are set to become parents today.  Pray that all goes well as they induce labor.

It is possible that Rachel Jackson’s father and Elizabeth Sessions’ mother will both be discharged from the hospital today.  Gunnar is doing well but remains hospitalized.  I have not gotten a report from Heath Tucker but hope to do so today.

The obituary in today’s paper shows that the visitation for the Lynn Davis family will take place tomorrow (Saturday) from 10:00AM until the 2:00PM service time.  Both will take place at First United Methodist in Grand Bay.  Pray for the Davis family

Amy Yelverton and Joey Switzer will be united in marriage tomorrow (Saturday) at 2:00PM.  The ceremony will take place in the church auditorium and the reception will be held in the fellowship hall.  Members of the Friendship family are invited to attend.

The deacons will meet with the pastor this Sunday afternoon, 6/3, at 4:00PM.

There will be a meeting in the auditorium immediately following this Sunday night’s service for all VBS workers.

There will be a meeting in the youth building immediately following this Sunday night’s service for all of the participants of the 6/14-21 GRACE  Ministries trip.  This is important!

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday.  I pray that the members of the Friendship family will be faithful.

I pray that you will have a great Friday/weekend with Jesus.
