On the revival point tomorrow, 8/12 – Candice Adkinson, Katelyn Jackson, Hennie Tran, Brianne Woods

It is my understanding that Bro. Jerry did a nice job of preaching in the morning services yesterday.  I am also told that Soy & Deidra did a nice job of sharing in the evening service.

I assume that Sueanna and Zeke will be discharged from the hospital today.

Bro. Chris and crew returned safely home from Danville last night.  Pastor Jack and the folks at Danville Baptist expressed their appreciation for the help.  I hope our students learned more about service.

This is an important week for the Friendship family as we are only days away from Evangelist Wade Morris being with us for four days.  Please pray.  Please plan to be in attendance this Sunday and then Monday through Wednesday nights at 6:30PM.

There is a need for nursery workers during the revival services.  Contact the church office and they will put you in touch with Liz Cole.  If everyone helps, this will not be a burden on anyone.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Lord willing, I will return home from Guatemala tomorrow.  Hope to spend some time with Paul Leytham today.  Maybe get a chance to visit the children in the ministry center.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

CRISTY’S FUNERAL SERVICE

Please allow me this opportunity to recap the funeral service for Cristy Leytham.  The service was to begin at 11:00AM but it actually began at 10:30AM with her son, Tony, leading in a time of musical praise and worship.  After that, another gentleman joined Tony and they shared several songs.

I was then asked to preached and Tico Vargas served as the translator.  During my time, I asked Dr. Mike Clark to share how Paul & Cristy were instrumental in helping Miss Dottie and him secure their first piece of property in Guatemala for the Casa Aleluya Children’s Home.

After I finished preaching, Manolo & Mildred Padilla shared two songs.  Andy, Cristy’s grandson, shared a few words as did a niece from El Salvador.

The casket was then loaded into the bed of Roberto’s truck and most everyone walked behind the truck to the cemetery which was about one half mile away on the top of the mountain.  There was singing, I shared about the resurrection and Carmina, daughter-in-law read the 27th Psalm.  The casket was placed in the mausoleum and the brick mason closed it up.

We walked away from the cemetery just before 2:30PM so the service in total was just under four hours long.  In my opinion, it was a good service and one that honored Jesus.

I have received several e-mails of support from members of the Friendship family.  I appreciate the encouragement and support.  For me, coming to Guatemala will never be the same.  I am thankful to have known Cristy Leytham for the past fourteen years.  Pray for her family!

SUNDAY, 8/10/14

Today’s Bible reading – Ezra 10:1-44 1 Corinthians 6:1-20 Psalm 31:9-18 Proverbs 21:3

Today’s on the point revival prayer – Betty Clair Hatcher, Amber Joyner, Phillip & Claire Turner   wade@wademorris.com

The past twenty one hours or so have been, in some ways, a blur for me.  I received the news for Cristy Leytham’s death around 10:15AM or so.  First news was that the service would take place that afternoon.  However, I soon received an e-mail from Paul telling me they would like for me to preach Cristy’s funeral service today.  A quick phone call to Sonny Bates and the decision was made to try and grab a ticket on the only flight available yesterday afternoon.

Alan Aldridge took care of last night’s service and Bro. Jerry graciously agreed to preach this morning’s services.  Soy got me to the airport and with other airlines canceling flights (weather related?) the flight I was on left on time.

I have never missed three consecutive Sundays.  I do not like doing so.  However, I feel that God gave me a definitive word about being here this morning.  If anyone from the Friendship family is offended by this, I sincerely apologize.  If I were not preaching the service, I would have stayed at home rather than just attend the service.  Thank you for understanding and thank you for your prayers.

The actual funeral service will take place today at 11:00AM (noon Grand Bay time) with burial to follow on top of the mountain.  Pray for Paul and the family.

My e-mail has been filled with prayer support relating to Deidra and Daphne.  Thank you!

The deacons will not meet today as scheduled.

Regular schedule this morning and tonight.  Soy & Deidra will be sharing in the evening service.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Pray for revival.

SATURDAY, 8/9/14

Today’s Bible reading – Ezra 8:21-9:15 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 Psalm 31:1-8 Proverbs 21:1-2

On the revival prayer point today – Lillian Brinkman, Phil & Edna Morgan

Received an e-mail from Paul Leytham last night giving me an update on Cristy.  The hospice representative is of the opinion that Cristy is in her final days i.e. less than a week of life on this earth.  She is now confined to a hospital bed and has someone sitting with her 24/7.  Pray for Cristy, Paul and family.

Obviously, Sueanna and Zeke remain hospitalized.  As far as I know, all is well with them.

Deidra’s visit to the neurologist yesterday showed that her problem is not with her sciatic nerve.  She has sacroiliac joint dysfunction.  Because she is in her third trimester of pregnancy, there is only so much that can be done.  The neurologist sent her to a physical therapist who is now in charge of her treatment.

As most of you know/remember, Daphne recently went through a miscarriage.  She learned yesterday that she will have to receive chemotherapy treatments for a yet to be determined number of times.  I do not know enough to speak of the details but do know that her gynecologist and oncologist agree that this is the route to take.  She has been having blood work each week and yesterday’s numbers were up after having been in decline each week.  It is possible her chemo treatments (shots) could begin this Monday, 8/11.

Bro. Chris and the eleven others with him arrived in Danville, Alabama around 12:45AM this morning.  They will help with the set up of the block party today and then work the actual block party tonight.  They are set to drive home tomorrow afternoon after attending the morning service at Danville Baptist Church.  Dale Bosarge will be the speaker during that morning service.

Revive us again!  That is my prayer, my longing, my desire for me and the Friendship family.  We are a mere eight days away from Evangelist Wade Morris joining us for these special services.

Deacons meet with the pastor tomorrow afternoon at 4:00PM in the church office.

Regular schedule tomorrow morning/evening.  I pray that the members of the Friendship family will be found faithful.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 8/8/14

Today’s Bible reading – Ezra 7:1-8:20 1 Corinthians 4:1-21 Psalm 30:1-12 Proverbs 20:28-30

On the revival prayer point today – Clara Broadus, Allen & Edna Glover   wade@wademorris.com

Sueanna Bryant is scheduled to give birth this morning via c-section.  She was originally scheduled for next Thursday, 8/14, but after seeing her doctor yesterday, the plan was changed.  Pray that everything goes well.

Deidra is having problems because the baby is sitting on her sciatic nerve.  She meets with a specialist today.  Pray for relief.

Cristy Leytham’s situation is basically unchanged.  They fully expected her to pass last weekend but she continues to live and is awake, alert, et cetera.  She is physically weak.  Pray for Cristy, Paul & family.

Bro. Chris will be taking a group of our students to Danville, Alabama tonight in order for them to help Danville Baptist Church with their annual block party tomorrow, 8/9.  They will join the DBC family for worship on Sunday morning and then drive home that afternoon.

They will be very accustomed to the messenger on Sunday morning as our own Dale Bosarge will be at DBC for their block party and Sunday morning service.

Speaking of Danville Baptist, Bro. Jack & Miss June’s grandson, Ryder, was placed in isolation in a Huntsville Hospital yesterday with meningitis.  They are now determining whether it is viral or bacterial.  Pray for Ryder.

All of our GRACE Ministries team members arrived home safely yesterday/last night.  We give God the glory for a good week of ministry.  It was a full week.  You can read about it on the GRACE blog elsewhere on this site.

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday, 8/10.  It is the second Sunday of our new church year.  I pray that the members of the Friendship family will be found faithful.

We are going to delay the ordination of our three newest deacons due to the fact that Kyle will not be able to join us.  We will now schedule that ordination for Sunday evening, 9/7.  Our deacons will have their regular meeting with the Pastor this Sunday, 8/10, at 4:00PM in the church office.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 8/1/14

The daily Bible reading assignment for today can be found in an earlier post.  Please retrieve it from there.  Thanks!

On the revival prayer point today – Eula Mae Blackmon, Caroline Ford, June Strickler      wade@wademorris.com

The vacation is over!  Good time.  Great family time.  Humbling visit to Normandy last Tuesday.  Long day of traveling yesterday.

J.B. Kelley is in the hospital battling pneumonia.

Kathleen Henderson is going to a rehab facility for therapy.

Martha Patrick is in a rehab facility as well.

Visited with Cristy Leytham last night.  She was alert but is very weak.  Her son from the States is flying in today.

Soy, Deidra and the girls arrived home safely late yesterday afternoon.  We crossed paths ever so briefly in the Atlanta airport.

First day of the new church year this Sunday.  My prayer is that the Friendship family will be faithful.  Bro. Jerry will be preaching in the AM and Ed Williams in the PM.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.  Pray for revival!
