TUESDAY, 11/6/18 (SECOND ENTRY)

Forgot to mention two things in my first entry today.  Another mistake by me – imagine that!

Tonight from 5:30 – 8:00PM Marcus Albritton & Eddie Hatcher will be in the CAB for basketball sign up and evaluations.  Our leagues are for boys and girls in the first through sixth grades.  Contact either of these guys for more information.

Second, Cecil Guidry tells me that the folks who have agreed to cook turkeys for the senior adults Thanksgiving meal can get those from her this Sunday, 11/11, at the church.  Please make sure that you only get your turkey from Cecil – no one else.

Also, those bringing sweet potato casseroles, fruit salads and cakes need to have those things at the church no later than 9:00AM on Thursday, November 15.

The CAB will be closed on Wednesday, 11/14, in order to set up for the meal the next day.

Please help pass the word about these matters.  If each of our readers contact one other person then we will reach thirty two people.  Thank you!

TUESDAY, 11/6/18

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

Let me begin with some amazing news!  (I like good news)  Aaron Chinners is in medical school at the University of South Alabama.  Yesterday, he was awarded a scholarship.  Ok, lots of folks get scholarships so what is the big deal?  Try a $160,000 scholarship!  Not $1,600 or $16,000 but one hundred and sixty thousand dollars!  Congratulations to Aaron!  To God be the glory.

Side note on the scholarship – one of the major reasons Aaron was awarded the scholarship is because of the mission trips he has taken to Guatemala.  Just saying!

I encourage all thirteen of our readers to go vote today.  I think you should stagger your times so as to not overwhelm the poll workers.  (By the way, if anyone anywhere has any questions, comments, complaints, et cetera about voting then just contact Kim Tillman – the lady knows it all when it comes to voting whether it is in Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, Washington, wherever!)

McKemie Place tonight.  Everyone invited to attend.  If you need more information then contact Randall or Rita Broome.

Ok, Aaron Chinner’s mother, Glenda, is about to drive me crazy!  (But hey what else is new – LOL!)  Glenda coordinates the angel tree ministry for the Friendship family.  She has a list of needy families and now needs sponsors.  Pleas contact Glenda to volunteer to help or for more information.  (I tried to tell her that we only have thirteen readers and five of those are out of town folks!)

Looking forward to hearing Pastor Wes Bates this Sunday morning in our services.  Pray for those services.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/5/18

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

What a joy to welcome Keith & Aninha Barrett into the Friendship family by transfer of letter from a sister Baptist church.  I have known this couple since 1993 and they have proven themselves faithful.  Join me in making them feel welcome.

We are blessed in that no one from the Friendship family is presently in the hospital.  Marisa Felps got a really good deal on gall bladder surgery so she will be having her gall bladder removed later this week.  Pray for her.

I learned yesterday that Jimmy & Morris Bryant’s nephew, Todd, is not doing well in his battle against his malignancy.  Pray for Todd and his family, please.

Basketball sign up and evaluations take place tomorrow night, 11/6, from 5:30 – 8:00PM in our CAB.  Need more information?  Contact Marcus Albritton or Eddie Hatcher.

I encourage folks to go vote tomorrow.

Nice comeback by the Auburn Tigers against Texas A&M this past Saturday.  I enjoyed the day of catching parts of several games. Hard to believe the season is now in the last month.

It appears we are in for several days of rain.  Be safe on the roads.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SENIOR ADULT THANKSGIVING MEAL UPDATE II

Well, the good news is that everything needed for the meal has been covered.  Done.  Finished.  Completed.  Amen!  Praise the Lord!

However, we still need those cash donations from those out of town guys!

Again, thank you to those ladies who have so graciously helped get this meal together and for each one who is cooking.  What a blessing!

SENIOR ADULT THANKSGIVING MEAL UPDATE

I know you are sitting beside your computer or looking at your phone/watch just waiting on an update about the meal.  Here it is:

We have the turkeys being cooked covered.

We need two cakes.

We need six sweet potato casseroles.  (Sessions has cases of sweet potatoes – just saying!)

We need five fruit salads.

I have noticed that one of our Sunday School classes is not well represented on our list.  I am not calling them out yet.  Could give you forty reasons but I will let it slide today.  Just saying!  LOL!

Dark thirty is coming!

P.S. – this is a community event so if any of our readers outside the Friendship family want to help then please feel free to do so.  Just send me an email.  Thanks!  (Really trying to avoid having to use Courtney Cavin and her cooking skills!)

P.S.S. – or folks who are out of town like Eddie, Ross, Tom, Dave Westhouse, Pastor Clint, et cetera could just send cash donations.

FRIDAY, 11/2/18

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

Ok, I know you had a restless night with not much sleep wondering where we stood on the food for the senior adult Thanksgiving meal.  Here is where we stand as of this morning – we need four cakes, six sweet potato casseroles, eleven fruit salads and cooks for three more turkeys.  I would love to complete this list before dark thirty tonight.  Calling on those folks under age sixty five to step up today!  Please email me at pastor@friendshipfamily.net so I can add your name to the list.

Special thanks to Brittney Nelson (20-29), Daphne Hutto (30-39), Jeanette Bates (40-49) and Bro. Jerry (50-59) for contacting their respective Sunday School classes to get folks to help with this ministry.

If this list is not complete by dark thirty today then I will start calling folks like Kim French out in tomorrow’s entry.  Just know that you have been fairly warned!  (Do we really want Kim French cooking?  Just saying!)

The Friendship family is hospital free at the moment.  Marisa Felps got a good deal on a gallbladder removal surgery so she will have that surgery done one week from today.

Time changes tomorrow night so remember to “fall back” one hour before going to bed.

Deacons meet this Sunday afternoon at 4:00PM.

Personnel Committee meets this Sunday afternoon at 5:00PM.

The Friendship family will most likely be asked Sunday night to give the Buildings & Grounds Committee the ok to purchase the new door unit for the front of the auditorium.  I appreciate all of the work Jeff Holifield has done with this much needed project.

I am ready for the college football weekend.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

LET ME BE VERY SPECIFIC!

This younger generation just kills me!  We need twenty four (24) cakes for the community senior adult Thanksgiving meal.  We have one young lady who has already volunteered to bake two.  That means we need twenty two more to reach the twenty four total.  Yes, these will be the desserts for the meal.  Is that specific enough?  LOL!

THURSDAY, 11/1/18

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

We were blessed with a good Hallelujah Festival last night.  We had around three hundred and fifty folks take part in the activities.  I appreciate TJ & Lindsey Vice leading this ministry but they had a ton of help too.  I am very thankful to each person who helped in any way.  Perhaps the greatest part is that we were able to share the Gospel with each person who entered the CAB. Seeds were sown.  Now we pray as only God can give the increase.

They are calling for the chance of some pretty severe weather in South Mobile County today – especially this morning.  I pray the folks on the roadways will be careful.  The forecast calls for a high of sixty five degrees tomorrow and a low of forty five degrees tomorrow night – hallelujah!

Ok, need the younger (ages sixty four and under) members or the Friendship family to step up to the plate regarding the cooking of twenty five turkeys (furnished for you), eighteen fruit salads, and seventeen sweet potato casseroles for our annual community Thanksgiving lunch which will take place on Thursday, 11/15, from 10:00AM until noon.  We had one of our young adults contact me yesterday volunteering to bake two cakes.  That is the spirit!  Please send me an email (pastor@friendshipfamily.net) to tell me what you will cook.

Dr. Rex Looney is now the musical worship leader at First Baptist Tanner in Tanner, Alabama.  Congratulations to Dr. Rex on this new chapter in his ministry life.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.
