THURSDAY, 11/4/10

On the point today – Teresa Ladnier & Mariam Moates.  Tomorrow – Clara Broadus & Rachael Jackson.  Saturday – Helen Ruth Brinkman & Tena Hovel.

Eula Mae Blackmon e-mailed last night to say that her daughter, Diane Scoggins, had a simple surgery that was much more involved than simple!  She is now okay after a second surgery.  Diane and her family live in the Ft. Myers, FL area and your prayers are appreciated.

It is my understanding that Kourtney Wadkins had surgery and remains hospitalized.  Teddy Ray Jackson’s father, Andrew Jackson, is in the hospital.  Brenda Poiroux got a good report after her procedure yesterday.  Earl Kirschenman says he is better but not great.  Nadine Holifield’s mother, Miss Myrtis Jones, had a procedure done yesterday but they could not complete it.  She remains hospitalized.  Sara Nell Moulds will have multiple biopsies tomorrow.  Alex Moreland went home from the hospital.  Merwyn Gunter took a fall and had to go the hospital for care.  Pray for these folks.

My great niece, Joslyn, remains in a Birmingham hospital and is receiving medication by drip.  They think her body may be fighting a virus that it no longer has so in effect fighting itself.  They should have some results today.  Thanks for praying.

Lisa and I drove to Easley, SC yesterday and visited the grave of Susan Blackmon Quinn.  It was a peaceful time for us but also made us realize just how fragile life is.  Pray for Edwin & Eula Mae and their family.

The revival services at Motlow Creek have come to a conclusion but hopefully the revival is just beginning.  What a great four days we have had together as we met with our sweet Jesus.  I appreciate the invitation from Pastor Terry and the Creek family.

Lisa and I left early this morning headed to Michigan and the annual GRACE Ministries pig roast.  This has been a good use of vacation days.  Pray for us as we travel.  Pastor Bob Harvey is traveling with us from Atlanta.  Friday will be a day of selecting bathroom fixtures, kitchen fixtures, et cetera from Ross Genzink’s showroom.  We travel home on Saturday.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 11/3/10

*After I posted this today, I got a call from my brother in China telling me that my great niece, Joslyn Turrentine, is in a Birmingham hospital.  The doctors in Cullman have given the family a best case/worse case scenario.  My nephew, Josh, is in Colorado for a meeting but is now on a plane heading home.  I do know Joslyn is supposedly receiving a blood transfusion today.  Please join me in praying for her.

On the point today – Debbie Kendrick.  Tomorrow – Teresa Ladnier & Mariam Moates.  Friday – Clara Broadus & Rachael Jackson.

Earl Kirschenman remains hospitalized as does Alex Moreland.  Please pray for these folks.  Miss Bryant had a surgical procedure yesterday and, as far as I know, did well.  Not sure if it was outpatient or not.  Brenda Poiroux is having a procedure done today.  Pray for these ladies too.  Obviously, we want to continue to pray for those battling cancer.

The mid-term elections are over and what a shift of power in the House.  What does it mean?  Probably not much but hopefully a change for the better.  We need to pray for our leaders as instructed in the Word.  I read Pastor Jack’s blog this morning but I can discern whether he was glad or sad about yesterday’s election results.  I wish he would just say what he means!

We had another good service last night.  There were no salvation decisions but there were a number of folks at the altar during the invitation.  The Lord led me to preach on “giving” and that does not normally get a larger public response.  However, we had our largest attendance of the three nights which is a blessing.  I ask for your prayers for tonight’s service.

Regular day at Friendship today with Bro. Jerry preaching during the 10:00AM and 7:00PM services.  Our morning folks are asked to remember that we will have “brunch with the bunch” next Wednesday, 11/10, beginning at 9:30AM in the fellowship hall.  It is going to be great!

We have a team from Lakeside Baptist in Birmingham using the L.G. Camp, Jr. mission house in Guatemala right now and they will be followed by a team from Mobile beginning next Monday.  Pray for these teams.  Pastor Breck Ladd is leading the B’ham team and Terry Stephan will lead the Mobile team.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/2/10

On the point today – Sonny Bates & Wanda Jordan.  Tomorrow – Debbie Kendrick.  Thursday – Teresa Ladnier & Mariam Moates.

Morris Bryant’s mother, Miss Lucine Bryant, will have a surgical procedure performed today.  Pray for her and for the doctor doing the procedure.  Brenda Poiroux is having a surgical procedure tomorrow so please pray for her too.

Earl Kirschenman remains in CCU but is doing better.  They are having a problem with his blood pressure.  Alex Moreland continues to recover in the hospital too.  I heard from Bro. Sonny Bates yesterday and he is making nice progress in his recovery at home.  Betty Creech’s dad seems to have improved some.  Pray for these folks.

The mid-term elections take place today.  As noted yesterday, our fellowship hall will be one of the voting precincts in Grand Bay.

Our second night of Upward evaluations take place tonight in the CAB.  Again, you will need to read the brochure, contact Kristy, or call the church office for the times and age group.

It is all God!  He showed up again last night in the service at Motlow Creek Baptist Church.  Another teen got saved during the invitation and a young boy did so after the service.  Praise the Lord!  Pastor Terry told me that they had more folks in attendance in last night’s service than they did on Sunday night.  Again, praise the Lord!  Pastor Travis Northcutt and his family came last night and that was a real blessing to me personally.  Pastor Travis did not get saved but at least he came!  LOL!

I watched maybe five minutes of the entire World Series but do know the Giants won it all last night.  I really do not care but do know that we Dodger fans are not supposed to be happy about this so I am not happy!  LOL2!

Sherry (as in my neighbor Sherry) – you are on my list!  I do not even want to hear your excuses!

Would you pray for the service at The Creek tonight?  Pray that God will show up and do things that only He can do!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/1/2010

On the point today – Rita Boutwell & June Strickler.  Tomorrow – Sonny Bates & Wanda Jordan.  Wednesday – Debbie Kendrick.

I have heard that the services at Friendship went well yesterday.  I appreciate Bro. Robbie preaching yesterday morning, Bro. Jerry Whitmore preaching the Spanish service, and Bro. Jerry Hovel preaching the evening service.  Also, I appreciate Bro. Benny coordinating the Hallelujah Festival ministry.  I am told the turnout was good and the help was great too!  Thank you for giving to the Lord!

The church auditorium will be open tonight from 6:00 – 8:00PM for those wishing to come and pray for our nation.  This would be an excellent time to pray for our upcoming revival services too.

The first of three nights of Upward evaluations begins tonight.  These evaluations will take place in the CAB.  I am not sure of the times but you can call the church office for the details.

Our church buildings are used as a voting precinct and that voting will take place in the fellowship hall tomorrow.

Please keep praying for Earl Kirschenman and Alex Moreland as they remain hospitalized.  Betty Creech’s dad, Mr. Walley, is seemingly going down physically.  Sonny Bates continues to recover at home and Tony Barnes was in the morning service yesterday.  Miss Joyce Bosarge is at home too.  Pray for these folks.

Folks, God showed up at Motlow Creek Baptist Church yesterday.  We saw 11 folks saved (6 in the morning service and 5 in the evening service).  Pastor Terry baptized 11 folks as a part of the evening service.  Hallelujah!  These folks have been praying and God has answered their prayers.  Awesome day as an awesome God manifested Himself!

It is about 3:00AM and I have been up for the past hour or so doing some reading.  One of the things that I read was where the fourth richest man in the world will soon be moving into his new house in Mumbai, India.  (I think he is a friend of Jerry Whitmore?)  It has taken seven years to build this house which has 27 floors, 400,000 square feet, 168 underground parking spaces, 3 helipads, and cost an estimated one billion dollars to build.  Wow!

I know it does not matter at this point but I was surprised that Oregon jumped Auburn in the BCS standings.  Lee West and these other Gamecock fans are killing me up here!  Wes Bates, I think the Rangers are done!  Deanna Rhyne, no comment on your favorite team!

I ask that you pray for me as I prepare to preach tonight.  I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
