SUNDAY, 12/8/13

On the prayer point today – Jeanette Bates, Debbie Kendrick, Sara Nell Moulds.  jack@danvillebaptist.org.

Lisa is in SC where she spoke last night at a women’s conference type setting and will speak again this morning at Pastor Terry Rainey’s church.  I hope they do not extend a call to her as pastor or something!   She had a significant delay in Atlanta yesterday which put her getting there in some doubt but God was good and she made it on time.  I appreciate your prayers for her.

There is a family that sits near us at the Alabama home football games.  I recently learned that the father is in a fight for his life with cancer.  I am guessing that he is in his 70’s.  Would you join me in praying for him?  Same for Linda Redder’s mother in Michigan as she has stage four liver cancer.

I did not call Larry yesterday to get an update on his brother, Ed.  Pray for Ed and his family.

We are on a regular schedule this morning.  “My Hope America” video tonight.  Pray.  Attend. Invite.  Important!

Deacons meet with me at 5:00PM today in the office suite.  Finance committee meets at 5:15PM in the 40-49 SS room in the fellowship hall.

Raise your hand if you thought a team from Alabama would be playing in the national championship game in Pasadena in January 2014.  Keep it raised if you thought that team would be Auburn.  That is exactly what I thought – I see no hands!  Nothing but congratulations from me for a remarkable year for the AU Tigers.  It was sweet seeing Urban’s team go down last night (I saw maybe ten minutes late in the fourth quarter)  Way to go MSU Spartans!  Will the SEC win the final BCS championship under the present system?  FSU is really good but do not count AU out of it!

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church!

Our Upward basketball league begins today.  Commissioner Kristy has me officiating the early afternoon games.  Pray for the leagues and pray for me.

Thanks to Miss Vinnie and each person who helped with the feeding of the Gulley family yesterday.  Funerals are made tougher when the deceased is a six year old.  Pray for Heath, Faron, and the entire family.

Larry W’s brother, Ed, remains in critical shape in a Jackson, MS hospital.  The baby is much improved and set to be discharged on Monday.

The “My Hope America” video will be shown tomorrow night during our evening (6:00PM) service.  Pray.  Attend. Invite.

My wife flies out this morning headed to Campebello, SC, and the Motlow Creek Baptist Church.  She will be speaking at their annual ladies tea (think our annual women’s conference) tonight and then teaching in a SS class tomorrow.  I excited for this opportunity for her.  Please join me in praying for her.

Regular schedule tomorrow.  Deacons meet with me at 5:00PM.  Finance committee meets at 5:15PM in the 40-49 SS class room.  No Discipleship Training.

THURSDAY, 12/5/13

Sonny Bates, Lindsey Vice, and Liz Whalen are on the point today in praying for our upcoming revival services.

Sierra & Miss Lois both did well through their respective surgeries yesterday.  Laurie Chandler’s mother actually followed Sierra in having the same surgery and using the same surgeon.  She did well too as far as I know.

Debbie Adkinson’s father was moved from CCU to a regular room.  I do not have an update as when I visited he was sleeping soundly.

The funeral service for Ruby Gulley’s great grandson will take place tomorrow (Friday), 12/6, beginning at 11:00AM.  It will be a graveside service.  Visitation will take place beginning at 10:00AM.  Everything will be from Serenity Funeral Home and Gardens.

Miss Vinnie is coordinating the ministry of feeding the family following the service.  Help needed.  Call the church office today if will help.  The food will need to be in the fellowship hall by 11:30AM tomorrow.

The “My Hope America” video will be shown during our evening service this Sunday, 12/8.  This is an important service.  Pray.  Attend. Invite others to join you.

Our Upward basketball league play begins this Saturday, 12/7.  Pray for Kristy  and all involved in this ministry.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 12/4/13

Edna G, Bernard S, and Lisa T are on the point today in praying for revival and contacting Pastor Jack.  jack@danvillebaptist.org.  P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619.

Two outpatient surgeries today – Sierra Edwards (cataract) early this morning and then Lois Adkinson (gall bladder) in the afternoon.

Visited eight residents in the convalescent home yesterday.  Everyone seemed to be doing well.

Was able to see Mr. Hardy (Debbie Adkinson’s father) yesterday.  He is in CCU.

The “My Hope America” dvd will be shown this Sunday night during our 6:00PM service.  Pray.  Attend.  Bring others.  This is a very important service!  Pray!

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  I think the menu for the 7:30PM Bible study is poppy seed chicken but I am not sure – it could change.

Still need more prayer warriors for the revival.  E-mail me if you are willing to be on the point one day and send Pastor Jack a message.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

REVIVAL PRAYER & CONTACT

I am looking for 120 folks who will take one day out of the next forty days and pray specifically for revival.  Pastor Jack Bailey will be the messenger during the dates of Sunday, 1/12/14, through Wednesday, 1/15/14.

As you are praying on your assigned day, you will also be asked to contact Pastor Jack via e-mail, a card, a letter or text.  Simply let him know that you are praying for him and for revival.

I need folks to send me an e-mail to sign up for this ministry.  You can request a specific date or just tell me to assign you a date.  As it stands right now (10:10AM on 12/3), we need one more person for this Thursday, two for Friday & Saturday, and one for Sunday.

Folks, this is not hard.  Anyone can pray.  The correspondence can be as simple as “I am praying for you!”

Please let me hear from you!  Thanks!

TUESDAY, 12/3/13

Our second oldest daughter, Daphne, turns 30 today – wow!  She was born just yesterday.  It was a Saturday afternoon basically during the Iron Bowl (Legion Field days), under the threat of a tornado, and you do not even want to know who won the game!  I should have gone into the birthing room instead of watching the game!  Anyway, I am married to a woman who looks 30 and now we have two daughters who have reached that age.  Happy birthday Daphne!

Today, we begin our 40 days of prayer for the revival services.  Karla Cooper, Reb Nevin & June Strickler are on the point today.  Pastor Jack’s e-mail address is jack@danvillebaptist.org.  His mailing address is P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619.  If these ladies had rather send a text, contact me personally for his cell number.  Tomorrow’s folks on the point are Jerry Hovel, Lisa Turrentine, and Diane Vickers.  Folks, we need to be intentional in our prayers for revival.  Plus, we want to send Dr. Jack a note of support and encouragement.

We need two more folks on point for this Thursday, Friday, & Saturday and one more for this Sunday.  Please send me an e-mail if you will take any of these seven openings.  Our goal is 120 different folks praying and contacting during these forty days.

Robin Seabrook was to be discharged from the hospital yesterday.  Miss Jackie Goff was to be sent to a rehab facility.  I did not find anyone with Debbie’s dad.  Did see Al & Cindy Stokes as Cindy’s father had a heart procedure done.

Jennie Riviere was taken to the ER yesterday but I am not sure if they admitted her to the hospital.  I will call her mother, Lynne, today.  Also, have plans to visit the convalescent home today.

David McElwee is presently in the hospital.  I think tomorrow marks the beginning of his “rest” period before the transplant period.

Bro. Chris hosted an exciting meeting last night about a huge student ministry event scheduled for Saturday, 1/11/14.  Prayer warriors needed!  Helpers too!  Thanks to those who attended last night’s meeting.  Good stuff!

We have had four folks sign up for the text alerts.  However, we had six sign up to receive these blog entries via their e-mail.  We have eight readers and three quarters of them want these entries sent directly to their in box.  Is that exciting or what!

The Saints game was ugly last night!  Is Seattle that good or does home field make that big of a difference?

This entry is too long!  I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 12/2/13

Good day in our services yesterday.  Steve Osborn did a nice job of sharing with us last night.  You gave a nice love offering to help him in his travels.  Thank you for being faithful.

Will be a pretty full day of visiting the hospitals today.  Robin Seabrook (Nikki Burwell), Bobby Hardy (Debbie Adkinson), Jackie Goff and an anonymous person all remain hospitalized.  Pray for them.

I ask you to pray for David McElwee in his battle against cancer.

I will post an update later today as to who has the contact/prayer privilege for revival.  Left the list in my Bible which is at the house.  Sorry about that mistake.

We will be showing the “My Hope America” dvd this Sunday night in our 6:00PM service.  If you have someone that you want me to pray for specifically, send me an e-mail.  I will pray.  Pray, attend, and bring others with you.

The church auditorium will have poinsettias in place on Sunday, 12/15, and Sunday, 12/22.  If you wish to place one in memory/honor of someone, the order and full payment must be submitted no later than Wednesday, 12/11.  The cost is $9 per plant.  Contact Sara Nell Moulds if you have questions or need more information.

Here is a quick glimpse of our December schedule:  12/7 – Upward basketball season begins; 12/8 – My Hope America dvd @ 6:00PM; 12/15 – children’s choir musical @ 6:00PM; 12/22 – adult choir musical @ 6:00PM; 12/24 – Christmas Eve service from 5:00 – 6:00PM; no services/classes/et cetera on Wednesday, 12/25; 10:30AM service only on Sunday, 12/29; no services/classes/et cetera on Wednesday, 1/1.

Want to get these blog entries via e-mail?  Contact Bro. Chris at chris@friendshipfamily.net.  Text alerts beginning in January?  Again, contact Bro. Chris for the details.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
