WEDNESDAY, 1/15/14

Bible reading for today – Genesis 31:17-32:12, Matthew 10:24-11:6, Psalm 13:1-6, Proverbs 3:16-18

TJ sent me an e-mail last night saying that Lindsey was discharged from the hospital.  She is still a very sick young lady.  Her immune system is low.  No visitors allowed per the doctor’s orders.  Please respect that.  E-mails, texts, et cetera will have to do for the time being.

The doctor told Carolyn Blaylock that she “may” be moved to a regular room today.  She is so ready!  She too has a ways to go in her healing process.

We had a better number in our service last night – praise the Lord and thank you for being faithful.  The singing and preaching were both  good.  Once again, numerous decisions at the altar.  God is doing some things in the life of our people that probably will not be manifested until later.  Only God knows!

Tonight is the last night and I am praying for miracles.  Praying for revival.  Praying for a great attendance!  Praying for great worship and time in the Word!  Praying for a great love offering for Pastor Jack.  Praying for revival.  We will meet in the youth building at 6:00PM for prayer.  Choir meets at 6:00PM also.

Folks, lets end these services with a bang to the glory of God!  Everyone meets in the auditorium tonight at 6:30PM.

After Pastor Jack publicly complained on Monday night about the towels in the hotel, one of the sweet members of the Friendship family took him two soft towels and a cake.  He does not know who the person is but I do.  I thank her for being kind!  Folks, it is never wrong to be kind!  Pastor Jack is used to this kind of treatment from the folks at DBC.

Soy, Rusty & Dale wanted to play cards last night.  Soy & Rusty have played for years while Dale just recently started.  It amazed me last night at how much better Dale has gotten in a couple of weeks.  He clearly outplayed Soy & Rusty last night.  Amazing!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 1/14/14

Bible reading for today – Genesis 30:1-31:16, Matthew 10:1-23, Psalm 12:1-8, Proverbs 3:13-15

Really good service last night.  Lot of folks at the altar during the invitation.  One young lady talked to me after the service and asked about being baptized so we will do that this Sunday night, 1/19, as a part of our service.

Last night’s attendance was good, not great, but good.  Thank you to those who were faithful.  I am praying that tonight we will see a full house.  I am calling on each member of the Friendship family to pray, attend tonight’s service, and bring others with you.  It was refreshing for this pastor to see folks attending last night wearing their work clothes which means they basically came straight from work to church.  I commend you!

We will meet in the youth building at 6:00PM for a season of prayer.  The choir meets at 6:00PM in the auditorium.  Join us!

Lindsey Vice is a sick young lady.  I visited with her & TJ yesterday afternoon.  (TJ hit me up for some lunch money claiming he had left his wallet at home – wow!)  I was there around 1:30PM and the kitchen staff called to see if Lindsey was going to order lunch?  Come to find out, TJ has not been letting her have but one meal a day in an effort to save on the hospital bill – double wow!  (Or something like that!)

Bro. Kerry attended Debra’s surgery and visited with Carolyn.  I did not get a report from him as we were going different directions but I am assuming “no news is good news!”

Folks, it is all about the revival service tonight.  Come expecting!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 1/13/14

Bible reading for today – Genesis 28:1-29:35, Matthew 9:18-38, Psalm 11:1-7, Proverbs 3:11-12

As I wrote the blog entry yesterday morning, I was unaware that just a few hours earlier Bob Henley had departed this life and entered Heaven.  Pray for his family as they walk through this valley.  It appears that the funeral will not take place until Saturday, 1/18.  However, please note that these plans are not finalized at the time of this writing (12:25AM).  Once the plans have been finalized, they will be posted here.

We were blessed with a great day in our services yesterday.  As usual, Pastor Jack did a great job of preaching.  God used him to speak to us.  Tonight provides us with the opportunity to see just how serious we are about revival!  There is no reason that we should not have a capacity crowd.  The service begins at 6:30PM.  It is my intent to have Pastor Jack in the pulpit by 6:50PM.  If you need to come  late, just come on and join us.  Pastor Jack has asked us to “fake it” and I encourage you to do so based on his definition of faking it!

We will open the youth building at 6:00PM for a time of prayer.  At some point between then and 6:30PM, Pastor Jack will be in the youth building for those present to pray over him.  If you can join us for this time, please do so.

The music portion of our worship services yesterday was great as well.  Thanks to Bro. Kerry, the soloists, the choir, and the instrumentalists for a job well done.

I have appointed an ad hoc committee to bring a recommendation to the Friendship family related to our video projection system.  The main projector is having some problems which were most evident during this past Thursday night’s service.  Bro. Chris is chairing that committee and will be joined by Tyrone Crawley, Rob Nevin, Liz Whalen, Jerry Whitmore and Raymond Wilkinson in consultation with Bro. Kerry.

No updates on Carolyn or Lindsey.  I will visit them today.  Debra Elliott will be having surgery this morning.  Bro. Kerry will cover that one.

Friendship family, lets be faithful plus some tonight by attending the service at 6:30PM!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 1/12/14

On the prayer point today – Caroline Ford, Miss Doris.  They can simply speak a word of encouragement to Dr. Jack today.  As a matter of fact, I am going to ask that many members of the Friendship family e-mail/text Pastor Jack during these days of revival.  Prayer and encouragement can be huge!  jack@danvillebaptist.org

Bible reading for today – Genesis 26:17-27:46, Matthew 9:1-17, Psalm 10:16-18, Proverbs 3:9-10

Lisa visited with Bob & his family  yesterday.  His condition basically remains the same.

Visited with TJ Vice yesterday afternoon.  They were doing an ultra sound on Lindsey so I did not see her.  She does have the flu, pneumonia and bronchitis.  She is a sick young lady.

Visited with Carolyn Blaylock.  She was a bit better according to the doctors.  She is ready to get out of that unit.

The “Foundation Forward” went well.  A lot of work went into that ministry opportunity.  Thanks to Bro. Chris and everyone else who helped.  We had one third of our deacons involved which speaks well of them.

Today is the day!  Revival services begin this morning.  Pray, attend, bring others with you!  As a pastor, you always wonder how the church family will respond.  I am believing the Friendship family will respond well.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 1/11/14

On the prayer point today – Charles Grant, Brad Hutto, Daphne Hutto   jack@danvillebaptist.org.  Pray for Pastor Jack & Miss June as they travel today.

Bible reading for today – Genesis 24:52-26:16, Matthew 8:18-34, Psalm 10:1-15, Proverbs 3:7-8

Carol Lucky did well through her surgery.  Terry had her home shortly before 1:00PM.

Carolyn Blaylock remains in ICU.  Will be visiting her today.

Bob Henley is at home under hospice care.  Pray for Bob and his family as they provide care and support for him.

Lindsey Hatcher Vice is in the hospital.  She is with child and has been battling bronchitis, the flu, and pneumonia.  (Initially, TJ had her sit in the car while in the hospital parking lot so as to not have to pay.  He figured being “at” the hospital would suffice. The doctor called to see where they were and he finally convinced TJ to bring Lindsey “into” the hospital)

BIG DAY for our student ministry as Bro. Chris and the students host “Foundation Forward” from 6:00 – 8:00PM tonight.  All students, 6th – 12th, are invited to take part in this ministry opportunity.  It takes place in the CAB.  Pray!

Revival services begin in the morning at 8:00AM.  Friendship family, pray fervently today!  Attend each of the five services.  Bring others with you.  Pray!

Upward basketball this morning and then they will clear the gym for Foundation Forward.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

P.S. – If I lived in the Millbrook area, I would sense the leadership to attend a church service in Alex City tomorrow morning.  Just sayin!

FRIDAY, 1/10/13

On the prayer point today – Heidi Butler, Aaron Chinners, Kenny Lingle   jack@danvillebaptist.org  P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619

Bible reading for today – Genesis 23:1-24:51, Matthew 8:1-17, Psalm 9:13-20, Proverbs 3:1-6

Carol Lucky will have surgery this morning.

Bob Henley was brought home from the hospital late yesterday afternoon.  That does not mean he is better but Bob wanted to come home.  Pray for him, Miss Chris, the boys and their families.

Carolyn Blaylock seemed to be a little worse yesterday.  She remains in ICU.

Wow!  How do you describe last night’s service?  First, “thank you” to those who attended as we were blessed with a wonderful attendance.  Glenda Chinners did a fantastic job of inviting/bringing folks to the service as did Kayla Hatcher.  I know there are others who did as well but these two helped lead the way.

Second, the COTW choir did an outstanding job.  What a great group of children.  Just as sweet as the day is long!  The surely surprised me with their “Roll Tide” at the close of the service!  I never expected such!

Third, Marisa Felps and Carla Kyser get an A+ for preparing supper last night.  Great job!  They are also preparing sack lunches for today.

Fourth, you gave generously as the love offering was slightly more than $2,000.  Amazing!

Finally, a big thanks to our host families.  They have been so kind and cooperative.

Last night was one of those, “if you missed it, you really missed it!”  The ultimate praise and glory go to our Father in Heaven.  He is beyond description and we bless His name.

Revival services begin this Sunday, 1/12.  Pray, attend, invite!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

Deidra Crawley will have surgery today.  She was admitted to the hospital yesterday.

WEDNESDAY, 1/8/14

On the prayer point today – Randall Broome, Shirley Hill, Bobby Stork.   jack@danvillebaptist.org   P.O. Box 70 Danville, AL 35619

Bible reading for today – Genesis 18:16-19:38,  Matthew 6:25-7:14,  Psalm 8:1-9,  Proverbs 2:6-15.  I have a group who originally signed up to join me in this reading but have since had a good number tell me they were doing likewise even though they did not send an e-mail.  Encouraging!

Larry Whitehurst has been very faithful to keep me updated on his brother Ed’s situation.  Ed is doing better and was sent home yesterday under hospice care.  He is feeling better and is able to verbally communicate with folks now.

Carolyn Blaylock was sound asleep yesterday afternoon.  She remains in ICU.

I have not heard any differently so I assume Bob Henley remains hospitalized too.

“Children of the World” choir tomorrow night at 6:30PM.  Pray, attend, and bring others with you to this special service.

Foundation Forward happening this Saturday night, 1/11.  Big ministry opportunity for our student ministry.  Need details?  Contact Bro. Chris Taylor.

Revival services beginning this Sunday morning, 1/12, at 8:00AM.  Pray for revival.

Speaking of revival, we need nursery workers for Monday & Tuesday nights.  Liz, I will go ahead and commit our SS class (20-29) for Monday night’s responsibility.  Is there another SS class that will take Tuesday night?

Bill Kendrick is going to a SALT conference in Montgomery on 1/18.  Has room for two more to join him.  Interested?  Contact Bill personally.

Regular schedule this morning and tonight.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
