MONDAY, 4/14/08

We are in China, safe and sound, thank the Lord!  We left Atlanta at 10:05AM Sunday and arrived in Shanghai via a direct Delta flight around 2:00PM today.  Actually, the fifteen hour flight wasn’t bad at all as they had movies, games, two good meals, and a snack.  Dana & Gina did very well.  I slept initially (as in never knew when we took off) and then read a book.  I spent most of the day looking at my watch and praying for the services at Friendship.  I do pray that all went well!

We have checked into the Westin Hotel and are in the process of getting ready to go out and begin to do the tourist stuff!  Eddie & Sue met us at the Shanghai airport and had a driver bring us to the hotel.  (Of course, Sue isn’t real happy with me right now as her new grandson in Hartselle, Alabama is literally hours old and she is here hosting us instead of boarding a plane for the US.  It is not my fault that Jamie delivered early!)

Okay, miracle of miracles.  This one tops my getting our taxes done before 4/15.  Lisa did all of our packing and she evidently used the Mark Mast formula for packing as we only brought two (2) suitcases for all four of us.  Even the Delta agent checking us in was impressed!  This is the same woman who packed four suitcases for the two of us to spend about 24 hours in Michigan the other weekend.  If only Al Michaels were here!

As you can see, Al has been to China and installed the internet so I should be able to blog daily.  (This post may show 4/13 under my title as this laptop is on a USA calendar)

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus!

Glad you are all there safely.

We are so thankful to hear that you made it safely to China! Enjoy your visit!!

WOW!! TWO suitcases!! That IS a miracle!! The only remaining question that begs an answer is: “How much did the suitcases weigh?” When you get down to Miriam’s 16 pounds (per person) I will truly believe that you have a “miracle of all miracles”

FYI: I looked for Spanish resources at LifeWay Books at Moody Bible Institute last week. They had a number of appropriate books, but they were in my estimation quite expensive. So, I checked out http://www.christianbook.com to see what they had. (We often get books through this site.) There is an entire section with Spanish books and resources… loads of selection… much more reasonable prices. You could even call their customer service: 1-800-CHRISTIAN (1-800-247-4784) to ask about a bulk quantity discount.

Thanks to God for safe travels. Hope you all get some rest – and have a big day. Tell Sue and Eddie not to worry about the grandbabies, I know that others are more than willing to step in and fill that gap.

I sent an old photo of Sue so Jamie could show it to the kids – to help remind them of their grandma. Is it true that they named this one Bud or EJ ?

On a serious note, I’m proud for Adam and Jamie – what a great family.

Well – I’m off to outside to pull Jameson in his wagon.

Tell all God Bless – Morris

    Mark,
To add to your source of Spanish literature and teaching aids I was recently in the American Bible Society on B’way and 65 and saw that they have a great deal of supplemental and cannonical Spanish languague material.
They also are available online and can provide a variety services to those not in the area.
    All the best,
    TGW
