We were blessed with a very good day in our services yesterday.  What a joy to baptize four more folks as a part of last night’s service.  In a testimony to God’s goodness and your faithfulness, our attendance was very good even though it was a holiday weekend.  We were only a few short in both the morning and evening services from last week’s totals.  God is good!

Tommy Johnson’s mother is in the hospital.

Pam Lewis’ mother is in a Louisiana hospital having had her hip replaced.  Pam will be going there this weekend to spend some time with her.

Sarah Thornton’s great niece passed away yesterday.  She was only 27 years old.  Do not know the details.

Sam Schjott’s grandmother, Marie Schjott, passed away last Thursday.  The visitation with the family takes place tomorrow night, 9/2, from 5:00 – 11:00PM at the Evangelical Methodist Church in Irvington.  The funeral service will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, 9/3, also from the Evangelical Methodist Church.  Pray for Sam’s family.

The church office is closed today but will reopen at 8:00AM tomorrow.

Our Sunday School class (20-29) and the 30-39 class will have a joint fellowship at our house this afternoon.  Translated – it is 5:00AM and Lisa has already mandated that I be doing yard work at the crack of dawn!  I simply asked, “have you ever seen Will’s yard” to which she replied, “this is not Will’s yard!”

A good first weekend of college football.  Things get even better next weekend as the NFL regular season begins.  Good stuff!

I pray that you will have a great Labor Day with Jesus!
