TUESDAY, 2/28/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 17-19; Mark 6:30-56

I love it!  One of our church members sent me an e-mail last night to tell me why they missed church Sunday night and were not at our prayer time last night.  Wanted me to know that they are not in downtown Mobile and would be back for our service on Wednesday!

As it presently stands, we are hospital free locally!  We give God the thanks!

Still praying for Lisa Thompson and Becky Sellers in their respective treatments/situations.   Praying for Mrs. Hamilton in the Louisiana hospital as well in her battle against cancer.  Maria is there with her.

Our prayer time took a hit numerically last night and I guess it was because of school being out?  At any rate, I am thankful to each person who took the time to come and pray.

Soy & Deidra arrived safely to GRACE Mountain yesterday afternoon.  According to them, they hit the ground running working on getting the apartment ready for their June arrival.  However, the picture I saw was of food from San Martin!  Just saying!

In the meanwhile, we have the girls until they get back home on Friday.  No big deal to us as it is only three days, seven hours, twenty nine minutes and twenty two seconds from now until their plane lands in the US but who is counting?

Yes, the church office is open today.  Regular hours.  Lord willing, I will be visiting the folks in the local convalescent home and in the office a good bit too.

I was able to meet Henni yesterday for a belated birthday lunch with her.  She turned twenty five on 2/4 and I was in Guatemala.  Henni is such a conversationalist!  I did enjoy spending some time with her.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Maria Wainwright’s mother is in a Louisiana hospital.

Gary Huhn’s father remains hospitalized in Mississippi.

Pastor Terry Rainey remains in the rehab center in South Carolina.

Blessed services yesterday.  God is good!  Our attendance was good.  Thank you for being faithful!

SATURDAY, 2/25/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 9-11; Mark 5:1-20

No significant updates this morning.  Pastor Terry Rainey went back to the rehab center yesterday.

Dale & Karla are on the move this morning but I do not remember where they are today.  I am thinking Alabaster, AL tomorrow because I remember thinking Full Moon Bar-b-que.

Final day of Friendship basketball today.  The players will be getting a couple of really nice gifts.  Again, thanks to Soy and all those who have helped in this ministry this season.

Our bus workers will meet this morning at 8:30AM before going on visitation.

Yes, we have Friendship family members out of town this weekend.  My hope is that those of us in town will be found faithful!

We have another supply of the books available for our Sunday night services.  They can be gotten in the auditorium tomorrow morning.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 2/24/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 7-8; Mark 4:21-41

Melissa Adkinson’s father will be having surgery today in Florida.  I do not know the details but do ask that you pray all goes well.

Pastor Terry Rainey was admitted to a hospital in South Carolina yesterday after having some problems in the rehab center.  Not sure of all that is happening but ask that you keep praying for him.

Gary Huhn’s father remains hospitalized in Jackson, MS.

Jimmy Tagert’s mother has been hospitalized and will have a procedure done today to try and help determine the cause of her problems.

Oscar told me yesterday morning that he was going to be transported to a rehab facility yesterday afternoon.  Not sure if that happened or not but prayerfully it did.

Ruby Gulley is set to be discharged from the hospital today.

Lisa Thompson is now in a regular hospital room.

Luke Brown’s dad remains in the hospital.  They were supposed to do a test yesterday afternoon to help them understand his situation.

Becky Sellers continues her treatments in her battle against her malignancy.  Keep praying!

Marlene Broome’s brother, Gary, had a heart cath yesterday and is now facing heart surgery.  Not sure when that is scheduled.

There is another person in the hospital that I visited yesterday but I am not sure if that is bloggable so I just ask you to pray.

The celebration of life service for Sierra Edward’s son-in-law, Bobby Crowe, takes place tomorrow afternoon at 4:00PM preceded by an hour of visitation with the family.  The visitation and service will take place from First Baptist Montevallo, Alabama.  Pray for the family during this time.

Mission of Hope service tonight at 7:00PM.  Everyone invited to attend the service which will be at the mission.

Tomorrow is the final day of our basketball leagues.  As far as I know, it has been a good season.  Awards and such will be given following each game tomorrow.  Pray for this final Saturday of basketball.

Regular schedule this Sunday.  My prayer is that the members of the Friendship family will be faithful to attend.  I realize that we have some folks who will be out of town.  I am appealing to those of us who will remain in town.

The members of our Buildings & Grounds Committee are asked to meet this Sunday afternoon at 5:00PM in their normal place.

Student ministry lock in this Sunday night.  Literally an all nighter.  Will take place in the CAB which means there will be not SNBA this Sunday.

Wow, this entry has been a bit long.  Thanks for reading.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 2/23/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 5-6; Mark 4:1-20

Ethan Nelson did well through his surgery.  Pray for him now as he goes through the recovery process.

Oscar Petersen told me yesterday they were trying to decide on which rehab place would be best for him.  He was feeling well.

Luke Brown’s father was feeling much better.

Ruby Gulley will be discharged from the hospital by tomorrow per the insurance company.  She has been hospitalized since January 5 – wow!

Lisa Thompson was moved from ICU into a regular room yesterday afternoon and should be discharged in two or three days.

Gary Huhn’s dad remains in the hospital in Mississippi.  Looks like he will there for possibly two or three more weeks.

Pastor Terry Rainey is settled into the rehab center in Spartanburg, SC.  This will be a big adjustment for him and a difficult time.

We had a good Wednesday in our services.  My wife, Lisa, did an excellent job in hosting the “potluck with the pastor” fellowship.  Hats off to Bobby Gene Evans for all of his help in setting up and taking down the tables and chairs.

Service at the Mission of Hope this Friday night beginning at 7:00PM.  Everyone invited!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 2/22/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 3-4; Mark 3:20-35

Ethan Nelson is scheduled to have surgery this morning.  They are doing a procedure on his back.  Yes, he is really young to be having back surgery but he has been having tremendous pain and this is the only option per the doctor.  Pray that all goes well.

Lisa and I had made plans to drive to Alabaster, Alabama (just South of Birmingham) tomorrow to visit with Sierra Edwards’ son-in-law, Bobby, who has basically been in the hospital (minus about two weeks) since September.   However, as I was visiting the hospitals in Mobile yesterday morning, Lisa received word that Bobby was not doing well so we made a spur of the moment decision to make the visit yesterday.  So, we took off just before noon arriving at the hospital around 4:00PM and had a really nice visit with Bobby, his wife, Melissa (Sierra’s daughter), and several other members of Bobby’s family.  The situation is bleak and I ask that you pray!  Update – just received word from Sierra that her son-in-law passed from this life around 1:00AM.  Pray for the family as they walk through this valley.

Caroline Ford has been “down” because of several physical issues.  She saw one doctor last week and should be seeing another one soon.  Pray that they can diagnose her problems and get them corrected.  She is tired of not feeling well.  (She does have mental issues but we need to focus on getting the physical problems corrected first before moving on to the mental which will take years to correct!).

Visited with Oscar Petersen yesterday morning.  They are looking into rehab facilities.  I would expect he could be moved within a day or two but that is my thought process and is not an official word from the doctor.

Lisa Thompson was to remain in ICU until today.  She should be moved into a regular room today.  Not sure how long she will have to remain there before being sent home.

Visited with Winston Gulley again yesterday morning as they were working on Ruby.  He said she is better and he hopes she can come home at some point next week.

Did not get to see Luke Brown’s dad as they were working on him.  However, I do know that his wife is also battling the flu but she is not in the hospital.  Pray for the Browns!

Gary Huhn’s father remains hospitalized in Jackson, Mississippi.

Keep praying for Pam Lewis’ mother.

Mary Cook has been sick for months.  She is at home but certainly needs our prayer support.

Greg Boutwell continues to need our prayer support too.

Phil Sims’ son-in-law, Darron, will be traveling to Denver soon for a medical procedure done only by a doctor there.  Darron has been  pretty sick as of late and needs our prayers.

Keep praying for Becky Sellers as she continues taking her treatments.

Well, the insurance company is not paying but the family has secured the money to fly Pastor Terry Rainey home via medical jet today.  He will go directly into a rehab facility.  He was going to be discharged by the doctors today and if he went to a rehab facility in Florida for even one day then he would have to remain there until it was finished or Medicare would not pay (at least that is my understanding).  They said he was very emotional yesterday.  Hey, if they were making me move to South Carolina then I would be emotional too!  Just saying!  Pray for Pastor Terry.

“Potluck with the Pastor” this morning immediately following the morning service.  Main fare is fried chicken from Greer’s.  (It is pretty amazing how cheap they will sell that chicken if you are willing to take what they have had left at the end of the day for the past two weeks!).   The meat, bread and drinks will be provided.  You are asked to bring the sides and desserts!  Y’all come!

Can you guess the main fare being served for tonight’s 7:30PM Bible study?  If you guessed the left over chicken from the left over chicken being served at today’s noon meal then “winner, winner chicken dinner!”

Lisa and I stopped and visited with Josh & Mandi Fortner in Millbrook on our drive home from Alabaster last night.  It was a quick visit but it is always good to see Josh!  (They also had their exchange student with them.  I think she is from Mexico but I could be wrong.  She does speak Spanish).

Saw where the FB guy and his wife met with Coach Saban this week.  Does that mean all FB users are now supporters/fans of the Crimson Tide?  Welcome to the family Chris Byrd, Bill Kendrick, Cecil Guidry, Scott Fontenot, Grant Collier, et cetera.  Rex Looney and I congratulate you!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 2/21/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Numbers 1-2; Mark 3:1-19

I will not repeat any of the updates from yesterday’s second entry but will ask you to keep praying.

I pray regularly for Pam Lewis’ mother who is at home in Louisiana.  Pam is there with her.  She continues to need our prayer support too.

Well, mama always said “if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is” and mama was right.  Long, long story short – Pastor Terry Rainey will not be transported home on a medical jet and must remain in Florida for the duration of his rehab.  It has to do with rehab, Medicare, not going to his residence, et cetera.

Ethan Nelson is scheduled for surgery early in the morning at a local hospital.

Maria Wainwright and her sister will be talking to their mother today about her medical condition.

“Potluck with the Pastor” takes place tomorrow immediately following our morning service.  The fried chicken (no baked or grilled), the bread and the drinks will be provided.  You bring the sides and desserts.  Please bring enough for you and those coming with you plus one more.

Basketball games tonight at 5:30 & 6:30PM.  Season ends this Saturday.  Soccer begins April 1.

Pretty good attendance for our prayer time last night.  Thank you to each person who attended.

Our Building & Grounds Committee members are asked to meet with me this Sunday, 2/26, at 5:00PM.  Regular meeting place.

I have a friend going through a really tough time right now.  Would you pray for this person as the Lord brings it to your mind?

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 2/20/17, UPDATE

Oscar Petersen did in fact suffer a stroke yesterday.  He will be kept in the hospital for several days as they observe him.

Lisa Thompson’s surgical procedure went well.  She is in ICU overnight and should be in the hospital for a few days.

Luke Brown’s father has the flu and will be in the hospital for a few days as well.

Gary Huhn’s father remains in a Mississippi hospital.

Ruby Gulley is some better.  Not nearly as confused as she was over the weekend.  They are now thinking it will be next week before she is discharged from the hospital.

Sierra Edwards’ son-in-law remains in a hospital in the greater Birmingham area.  Sierra has gone back to be with her daughter and son-in-law.

Maria Wainwright’s mother got some not so good news regarding her malignancy.  Maria has gone to Louisiana to share the news with her mother.

Ethan Nelson is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday.

Pastor Terry Rainey remains in the hospital.  Not sure when he will be discharged and sent back to South Carolina on the medical jet.

So, our prayer list is rather lengthy.  Pray without ceasing!

MONDAY, 2/20/17

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10

Today’s Bible reading – Leviticus 26-27; Mark 2

Tuesday, February 21 – Numbers 1-2; Mark 3:1-19
Wednesday, February 22 – Numbers 3-4; Mark 3:20-35
Thursday, February 23 – Numbers 5-6; Mark 4:1-20
Friday, February 24 – Numbers 7-8; Mark 4:21-41
Saturday, February 25 – Numbers 9-11; Mark 5:1-20
Sunday, February 26 – Numbers 12-14; Mark 5:21-43

This entry is late and that is by design.

Oscar Petersen was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon.  The initial thought was a stroke but that was not the case.  The tests did show that he had a stroke at some point in the past but not yesterday.  They kept him for observation overnight.

Lisa Thompson was scheduled for a surgical procedure this afternoon but it got moved to first thing this morning.  She continues to have difficulty breathing so pray this procedure works.

I saw Winston this morning and will be visiting Ruby later.

Luke Brown’s father was admitted to the hospital last night for observation.

How about some really, really good news?  The insurance company has agreed to fly Pastor Terry Rainey home on a medical jet for his rehab.  Folks, this is a God thing – totally!  To God be the glory!

GROW tonight at 6:00PM.

Prayer time tonight from 5:00 – 7:00PM.

There will be two basketball games tonight – 5:30 & 6:30PM.  This will allow the league play to end this Saturday, 2/25.  Games will be played Tuesday night and Thursday night as well.

Friendship Spring soccer begins April 1.  Sign up taking place now.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
