TUESDAY, 11/30/10

On the point today – Sara Nell Moulds.  Tomorrow – Tina Wilkinson.  Thursday – Karla Cooper.  Friday – Leslie Williams. Saturday – Bobby Henley.  Pray for revival!

Here are the funeral arrangements as we know them for those mentioned in yesterday’s post:

Mrs. Voncile Gillespie McDowell (Edd Gillespie’s mother) – visitation tonight (11/30) from 6:00 – 8:00PM at the Serenity Funeral Home.  The service will take place tomorrow in Enterprise, Alabama.

Mr. Ray Trehern (Miss Kittie Camp’s brother) – visitation will take place tomorrow night (12/1) from 5:00 – 8:00PM at the Serenity Funeral Home.  The service will take place on Thursday, 12/2, at 12:00 noon from the chapel at Serenity Funeral Home.

Charlotte Gulley – arrangements remain incomplete.

Mark Vice did well through his surgery yesterday.  Pastor Johnny Howard remains hospitalized but they took no action following his heart cath yesterday.  He has a main artery that is 100% blocked but the doctor said it had already by-passed itself – praise the Lord!

Miss Joyce Bosarge is in good spirits but has really declined physically.  Pray for Liz and the family as they give her care during this time.

Revive us!  We are praying for revival and I ask each member of the Friendship family to pray without ceasing this week as we anticipate the first service with Pastor Michael Mason on Sunday night.  Bro. Rex Looney will join us for the Monday – Wednesday services.  Pray, attend, and bring others with you.

I want to remind our deacons to meet with me tomorrow night, 12/1, at 6:00PM.

Our missions committee will be possibly bringing two motions for consideration to the church family in tomorrow night’s 7:00PM service.

Speaking of missions, I am praying that this Sunday, 12/5, will see us have the largest offering yet for our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions.  Thank God for those who have given so far, those who have made pledges, and those who will give during December.  Remember, the GA post office is open – that comes from Tina “post office” Wilkinson.  LOL!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

RAY TREHERN ENTERS HEAVEN

Mr. Ray Trehern, Miss Kittie Camp’s brother, passed away while sleeping around 4:00AM today.  Miss Camp had a wonderful visit with him last Friday so that is a precious memory for her.

Pray for the family.  The arrangements are obviously incomplete at this time.

MONDAY, 11/29/10

On the point today – Rob Nevin.  Tomorrow – Sara Nell Moulds.  Wednesday – Tina Wilkinson.  Thursday – Karla Cooper. Friday – Leslie Williams. Saturday – Bobby Henley.

Pastor Michael Mason’s address is 606 Birdsprings Road Hartselle, AL 35640.

Our prayer list is long today – Mark Vice is having surgery on his ears this morning.  Pastor Johnny Howard, Karla Cooper’s dad, had a heart attack on Thanksgiving Day and will have a heart cath this morning.  Miss Joyce Bosarge is confined to the bed and is seemingly nearing life’s end on this earth.  Mr. Ray Trehern, Miss Kittie’s brother, is seemingly nearing life’s end on this earth too.  Carla Kyser fell on Thanksgiving Day and broke her wrist.  She has a series of scans this week related to her cancer.  Samuel & Reina’s baby, Genesis, goes to Guatemala City for tests on her heart this Friday, 12/3.  Pray for these folks!

Edd Gillespie’s mother passed away on Saturday.  Charlotte Gulley passed away last Tuesday.  I anticipate both of those services will take place within the next couple of days.  Pray for these families.

Congratulations to Bill & Deanna Rhyne as they welcomed their first grandchild into this world this past Saturday.  His name is Luke Andrew and he was born in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Great day in our services yesterday.  You responded well to the LMCO plea last night with $13,880 being pledged and another $1,250 actually being given.  Now it is up to us to follow through with the actual giving of those pledges.

Our Girls In Action have their post office open until 12/19 with all proceeds going to our LMCO.  Our AWANA clubs are raising money too and are expecting to contribute around $700.  Our goal is $40,000 and we can reach it with the Lord’s help and our obedience in this grace.

The days of our revival services are here as Pastor Michael Mason will join us on Sunday night, 12/5, and Bro. Rex Looney on Monday night, 12/6.  Pray without ceasing!  Attend each service and bring someone with you.

Our December schedule will be different as we will not have AWANA or Discipleship Training any Sunday.  The first three Sundays (5th, 12th, & 19th) will see us have our regular services at 8:00AM, 10:30AM & 6:00PM.  We will have our regular Wednesday services (10:30AM & 7:00PM) on the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd.

On Friday, December 24, we will have our annual Christmas Eve service from 5:00 – 6:00PM.

On Sunday, December 26, we will have one service at 10:30AM with no other services that day.  We will also not have any services/Bible studies on Wednesday, December 29.

The church office will be closed on Monday, 12/27, for Christmas and Thursday, 12/30, for New Year’s Day.

On Sunday, January 2, 2011, we will resume a regular schedule and Mark Harris will be our guest in the 6:00PM service.

My family and I had a great Thanksgiving weekend.  I appreciate Adam & Jamie opening their home to us – it was great.  I do not wish to discuss the events of this past Friday!  LOL!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 11/24/10

On the point today – Anna Carol Bosarge, Danny & Pam Lewis.  Tomorrow – Deidra Taylor, TJ & Lindsey Vice.  Friday – Larry Blackwell & Kerry Kelley.  Saturday – Ed Williams.  Sunday – Chris & Nicole Taylor.  Pray without ceasing!

Word came to me last night that Charlotte Gulley passed away very unexpectedly yesterday morning.  Charlotte was 37 years old and used to ride the bus to Friendship “back in the day.”  I do not know any of the arrangements but do ask that you pray for the family during this difficult time.

The funeral service for Perry Willis will take place today at noon from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home.  Perry is the nephew of Larry Whitehurst.  Pray for the family and for Pastor Alton Stokes as he preaches the service.

Pastor Tom Campbell will preach the funeral service for David James today at 3:30PM in Hartselle, Alabama.  David was 50 years old and passed away very unexpectedly on Monday.  David’s daughter, Katie, went on the mission trip with Alisha Vice a couple of summers ago.  Pray for the family and Pastor Tom.

Jay Black did well through his surgery yesterday as they inserted three screws into his foot.  He is scheduled to be released from the hospital early this morning.

Kayla Brown Averett is also doing well as she and Hunter should be released from the hospital today too.

Keep praying for Miss Joyce Bosarge and Carla Kyser in their respective battles against cancer.  Reb Nevin’s sister-in-law, Cathy Medchill, is having a heart cath today so pray for her.

Mark Mast and sixteen others head home from Guatemala today.  It is 4:30AM and I just spoke to Mark via the phone.  Two things warrant our prayer support – the possible “protests” in the major airports today and the weather in Minnesota & Canada.  Pray that they can arrive home safely tonight.

Congratulations to Jack Ciak today as his UConn Huskies upset Michigan State in basketball last night.  Which means that I have a ton of other friends i.e. lead person would be Dr. Karen Foulds who are not so happy this morning since they are State supporters.

The Lakers rolled to another victory last night but they remain one game behind San Antonio for the best record in the league.  The Hornets are playing well too!

The church office closes today at noon and will not reopen until Monday, 11/29, at 8:00AM.

Lord willing, my family and I will travel to Hartselle this afternoon to enjoy Thanksgiving with some of the Turrentine family.  We will end up in Birmingham tomorrow night so Lisa & the girls can shop early on Friday.  Brad, Charles, Soy & I will attend the game on Friday before coming home on Saturday.

We are set for a regular schedule this Sunday.  Our December schedule will differ but we will post those details later.  You can put this on your calendar for Sunday night, January 2, 2011 – Mark Harris will be with us in our 6:00PM service.  It is going to be great!

I pray that you will have a blessed Thanksgiving week with your family and Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/23/10

Update – Jay Black will be having surgery on his foot this afternoon at 2:00PM.  This is the result of the injuries he sustained in the automobile accident last week.

Also, Andrea Rambert from Guatemala was involved in a serious automobile accident last night in Guatemala City but escaped with only minor injuries.  Her father, Philippe, owns the Las Antorchas restaurant.

This entry is way late.  You can blame that on Dave Westhouse, Tom Compagner, and Louise Mason!

On the point today – Vinnie Brewer & Bobby Broome.  Tomorrow – Anna Carol Bosarge, Danny & Pam Lewis.  Thursday – Deidra Taylor, TJ & Lindsey Vice.  Friday – Larry Blackwell & Kerry Kelley.  Saturday – Ed Williams.  Sunday – Chris & Nicole Taylor.

Matt & Kayla Averett are the proud parents of Hunter Averett who made his entrance into this world yesterday morning weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces and is 20 inches long.  Grandma Melissa Brown is one proud grandmother too!  I am sure you will be seeing pictures soon!

Larry Whitehurst’s nephew, Perry Willis, passed away on Sunday.  This is Larry’s brother’s, Edward, son.  The visitation with the family will take place tonight from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Serenity Funeral Home.  The service will take place tomorrow at noon from the chapel at Serenity.  Pray for the Whitehurst family.

I learned last night that a life long acquaintance, David James, passed away unexpectedly yesterday.  I do not know the details but do ask that you pray for the family.

Friendship family, we do not have any services/Bible studies tomorrow, 11/24.  We are on a regular schedule this coming Sunday, 11/28.

The church office will be closed this Wednesday afternoon, 11/24, and Thursday, 11/25, for Thanksgiving.  As usual, the office will be closed on Friday too.

I plan on posting an entry tomorrow morning but will then probably not post again until Monday, 11/29, unless something warrants doing so.

I pray that you will have a great Thanksgiving week with your family and Jesus.

MONDAY, 11/22/10

On the point today – Betty Creech & Deanna Rhyne.  Tomorrow – Vinnie Brewer & Bobby Broome.  Wednesday – Anna Carol Bosarge, Danny & Pam Lewis.  Remember those cards to Pastor Michael & Bro. Rex.

I have heard from a couple of folks about how good the services were yesterday and last night.  I appreciate Bro. Jerry Hovel and Bro. Wes Bates preaching in my absence.  I have also been told that the attendance was good in all of the services which is a mark of spiritual maturity – praise the Lord!

Bro. Robbie Howard had another stent placed in his heart over the weekend.  I think he is coming home from the hospital today.

Reina Acan came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon.  As far as I know, the baby remains in ICU but updates are really hard to come by.  She does have Down Syndrome.  Pray for Genesis Rachel along with Samuel & Reina.

Please remember the community Thanksgiving service tonight at the Methodist Church.

Lord willing, Betty Creech, Caroline Ford, and Tony Hacker will arrive at the Mobile airport around 2:00PM today and I will follow suit at 11:00PM.  Pray for traveling mercies!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

PRAY FOR GENESIS RACHEL ACAN

Samuel & Reyna Acan became the parents of Genesis Rachel Acan this morning somewhere around 9:00AM.  As crazy as it seems, we did not know the sex of the baby until after 2:00PM.  There are seemingly some health issues with the baby.  She is on a ventilator but is deemed stable at this point.  However, there are other potentially other problems that will be addressed tomorrow by a doctor.  Samuel has seen Reyna for about five minutes and has not seen the baby.  Crazy stuff!  Thanks to Tom & Shari Compagner Tico Vargas, and Juan Marcos Ruiz for their presence/help today.  Pray for this family.

FRIDAY, 11/19/10

On the point today – Jerry & Gloria Whitmore.  Tomorrow – Teddy Ray Jackson & Phil Sims.  Sunday – Herbert Benefield & Bro. Robbie Howard.

Miss Kathleen Henderson is in the hospital – again!  Pray for her.  It is my understanding that Jay Black possibly went home from the hospital yesterday.

I am told that over 200 senior adults attended the meal yesterday.  I appreciate all of those who had a part in making that ministry event a success.  Of course, special thanks to Sara Nell Moulds for leading this effort.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

P.S. – Jerry Whitmore, you can check with Kim French as she has the package you need.

On the point today – Morris Bryant & Mike Moreland.  Tomorrow – Jerry & Gloria Whitmore.  Saturday – Teddy Ray Jackson & Phil Sims.  Pray without ceasing.

The funeral service for Leslie Broome will take place this morning.  Pray for the family during this time.

Jay Black’s injuries were more severe than originally thought so he remains hospitalized.  He may get to go home today.

Teddy Ray’s dad, Andrew Jackson, is also hospitalized.  Pray for him.

Keep praying for Carla Kyser, Miss Joyce Bosarge, and all the others who are battling cancer.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus!

P.S. – Roll Tide!
