SATURDAY, 11/30/13 (UPDATE II)
Just received an e-mail from Miss Kittie Camp sharing that Miss Jackie Goff is back in the hospital. Will update tomorrow on her condition. Pray for Miss Jackie & Bro. Bill.

Sharon Jardee called me shortly before 8:00AM to share that one of her sister’s (Ruby Gulley) great grandchildren passed away during the night. Braden, 7 years old, was born with a multitude of health problems. It is a miracle that he lived for 7 years. Pray for his mother, Faron, Winston & Ruby, and the entire family. Arrangements will most likely be made this afternoon and, if so, I will post them tomorrow morning.
Received an e-mail from Sandra McElwee during the night and I asked for permission to share it via the blog:
“Bro. Teddie. I know you have been praying for David. I wanted you to know some things that are coming up with him. so you know how to pray. David has been taking chemotherapy for the last 21 weeks. They have been getting him ready for a bone marrow transplant. He started today taking Neperton shots. He will take those for the next 4 days. They are to make the T cells in the bones jump into his blood. He will go to the hospital on Monday to have a port put in. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday he will be there all day for them to collect them. They will let him rest a few days. Then on the next Monday the 9th he will go into the hospital and on the 10th they will do the transplant. He will stay there for 2 to 3 weeks after that we will go to Leigh Ann’s. Someone will need to be with him all the time. I work three blocks from her. I will keep you posted but I really want you to pray that this will put him in remission.”
Join me in praying for David. David chaired the pastor search committee that recommended me to the Friendship family. (Now you know who to blame!) I have always appreciated him for leading that group to do so and that group responding positively. I have missed David & Sandra ever since they moved away. Sandra wrote in a second message that David “looks good” which is amazing as he never has looked that good in all of the years I have know him – must be the meds. LOL!
The past few mornings, especially yesterday, it has looked like a young snow on the ground as we have had a pretty good frost. That inspired me to mow the yard yesterday afternoon. Of course, whenever Charles saw me mowing, he demanded that I mow his yard too! Deidra was napping so she “fussed” because the mower was running (hard to mow otherwise). Soy said he does not mow in months that end in r, y, h, l, e or t. Otherwise, he is always ready to help!
I realize that we have a good number of folks out of town because of Thanksgiving. However, there are more of us who are in town. My prayer is that we will be faithful to the services tomorrow morning and evening.
Lord willing, next Sunday night, 12/8, we are going to show the “My Hope America” dvd in our 6:00PM service. Pray. Invite folks to join you for that service. Pray!
Someone asked me last night where I was going to be watching the game today? I had forgotten all about their being a game today. (Or something like that!) AU has had an amazing turn around this season. Nobody, not even Ross Hatcher or Scott Fontenot, saw it coming prior to the season’s beginning. Good for them. UA has obviously enjoyed a good season thus far too as expected. Should be a good game.
I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.
Robin Seabrook remains hospitalized. You can read the updates from the comments posted by her mother on yesterday’s entry. Pray for the doctors to find the cause of her health problems.
I much prefer Good Friday over Black Friday! Obviously, it is not even close! However, if shopping is your “cup of tea” then I am happy for you this morning. My wife opted to not shop today which is out of the ordinary but I am glad that she will be around the house today. (Ask me later today and my opinion may be a bit different!)
We are on a regular schedule this Sunday with one exception – as per years gone by, we will not have Discipleship Training again until the first Sunday in January 2014. I appreciate our DT teachers being understanding of this and I appreciate all they do in teaching the Word week after week.
Our regular deacons’ meeting with the pastor will not take place this Sunday, 12/1, but rather next Sunday, 12/8. Deacons, please note the change.
I would like to ask the members of our Mission Committee to meet this Sunday, 12/1, at 5:00PM. We will meet in the conference area of the new office.
Want to receive these blog entries via your e-mail? Contact Bro. Chris Taylor at chris@friendshipfamily.net. Want to receive text alerts beginning in January? Follow the instructions that will be in the N&N this Sunday, 12/1. (These alerts will be available only to the members of the Friendship family due to limits on the numbers) Also, one alert per family.
We now turn our focus to celebrating Christmas – the absolute best season of the year for the followers of Jesus! I love it!
I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Nikki posted a comment yesterday afternoon saying that her daughter, Robin, had been taken to a local hospital and a surgeon had been called. That is all I know at this point. Nikki is a faithful reader of the blog so perhaps she will send an update today.
As Fred Sanford would say, “you big dummy!” I posted yesterday about Chloe M being in the “McDonald’s Christmas Parade” this morning as an Azalea Trail Maid. However, I was totally unaware that Jada West is also an Azalea Trail Maid and will obviously be in the parade too. My wife “kindly” told me of my mistake as we were driving to Laurel, MS yesterday. Lets just say that Fred would have been much more kind with his words – ouch! So, congratulations to Jada & Chloe. Parade will be televised on WGN from 8:00 – 11:00AM. It is expected to be a balmy 29 degrees when the parade ends!
Remember, contact Bro. Chris if you want to receive these blog entries through your e-mail. Also, text alerts are coming beginning in January 2014.
If you have ever been to Guatemala with GM, check out the link on the post from yesterday. Thanks to Soy for getting that online for me. Deidra married such a smart guy! (She married him for his looks and did not even know he was a genius!)
How did the trip go with Charles? As expected with me buying his lunch (he ordered the most expensive thing on the menu). He wanted to stop for supper but I was driving. The good news is that he only charged me $34 for using his vehicle – said it was a special holiday rate or something like that.
BTW, Ann’s sisters, Lokie & Betty, need our prayer support. Lokie will be placed under hospice care within the next few days. She is spiritually ready to leave this life. Betty was placed back in a convalescent facility yesterday afternoon.
Charles’ sister, Virginia, was Virginia! She is doing good.
I am praying for those who are having their first Thanksgiving without that special family member because of death. May you find God’s grace to be sufficient.
I pray that your Thanksgiving Day will be great with Jesus!

Estuardo has been in a Grand Rapids, MI physical therapy center since October. Click on the link above to see a report that was on WZZM Channel 13 in Grand Rapids last night. Many thanks to Dave Westhouse for letting us know about this story. (Dave is actually good for something – LOL!)
The church office will close at noon today and will not open again until Monday, 12/2. In case of an emergency, please call me at home as I will be around all weekend. (Again, calling my cell phone is not the best way to reach me. Plus, I can no longer send or receive texts due to an “issue” with my cell phone) You can always call my office direct (445 5416) and leave a message which goes directly to my e-mail. (Absolute best way to reach me!)
No classes or services this morning or tonight, 11/27. Hope you will be able to enjoy time with your family.
Bro. Chris & his lovely wife, Nicole, are hosting a bonfire at their house tonight (6:00 – 8:00PM) for the students. No transportation provided. Take a two liter drink, sweet, marshmallows, or something along.
Chloe McGath will be in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago tomorrow. It will be broadcast on WGN (channel 307 on Direct TV) from 8:00 – 11:00AM. Chloe is an Azalea Trail Maid.
Lisa and I have plans to travel to Laurel, MS with Charles & Ann this afternoon to visit two of Ann’s sisters in the hospital and Charles’ sister at home. Just what I wanted to do on my Thanksgiving eve – travel with Charles! (Guess who will get to pay for lunch?) I just hope we get home before dark so I will not have to buy supper too!
Would you like to begin receiving the blog entries via e-mail? Each time I blog it would come to you via e-mail which means you would not have to “check” to see if a new entry had been posted. Interested? Please contact Bro. Chris Taylor (chris@friendshipfamily.net) to sign up or for the details. Do not contact me about this as BC is the computer whiz!
Also, we will begin sending text alerts beginning in January. More details to come.
I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
Learned today that Miss Jackie was discharged from the hospital late yesterday afternoon. So, the Friendship family is hospital free at the present time. We give God thanks for this fact.
Miss Jackie Goff has been moved to a regular hospital room. Her blood count has decreased again which causes some confusion. A test was going to be done yesterday afternoon to help possibly decide why the loss of blood. The doctor hopes to allow her to go home before Thanksgiving but no promises.
Brittney and baby Cade Nelson are doing well. If everything goes as planned, they should come home at some point today. Ethan & Brittney are such a nice young couple.
My sister, Melissa, and my younger brother, Freddie, married a brother, Tony, and sister, Mary Jane. Tony & Mary Jane’s sister, Penny, passed away on Saturday night. Her funeral service takes place today at 11:00AM in Hartselle, Alabama. Pray for the family.
Bill Kendrick posted a comment on yesterday’s blog entry. It relates to the imprisoned pastor in Iran.
The church office will be open today and tomorrow morning before closing for the Thanksgiving holiday.
We will not have any services, classes, et cetera tomorrow morning or evening. Please note this and pass the word!
I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.
Thank you Friendship family! You responded beautifully to my request of having you join me at the community service last night! My hope was 200 and, if we did not reach it, we came extremely close. I am one proud pastor! May God bless you for your faithfulness!
Ethan, Brittney & Eli Nelson welcomed Caden Samuel Nelson into this world yesterday afternoon. He checked in weighing 6 pounds 4 ounces. Everyone is doing well and we give God the glory!
I am headed to check on Miss Jackie Goff today.
Jimmy Tagert broke his arm/wrist in two places this past Saturday. Fell from a ladder while cutting some limbs. Surgery “could” be needed but that is not known at the present.
John Vickers is no longer the interim student pastor at 1st Pascagoula. He is now the student pastor there as they voted to drop the interim label yesterday. Congratulations John!
Pastor Abel Garcia announced his resignation to his church family in Freeport, TX yesterday morning. He and his family will be moving to Rainbow City, AL where he has accepted the pastorate of the White Springs Baptist Church. Pray for 1st Freeport as they lose their pastor and for White Springs as they welcome Pastor Abel & family. He begins his ministry the first Sunday in January 2014. Grandma Clara is happy as it puts those grandchildren a few hours closer to Grand Bay.
We enjoyed good services yesterday morning. Rick & Beth and Lisa & I continue to be blessed by the faithfulness of the young adults Sunday School class. I am blessed by the faithfulness of all those who are a part of the Friendship family.
Remember, no Wednesday classes/services this week. We will resume a regular schedule this Sunday, 12/1.
I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
