MONDAY, 11/25/13

Thank you Friendship family!  You responded beautifully to my request of having you join me at the community service last night!  My hope was 200 and, if we did not reach it, we came extremely close.  I am one proud pastor!  May God bless you for your faithfulness!

Ethan, Brittney & Eli Nelson welcomed Caden Samuel Nelson into this world yesterday afternoon.  He checked in weighing 6 pounds 4 ounces.  Everyone is doing well and we give God the glory!

I am headed to check on Miss Jackie Goff today.

Jimmy Tagert broke his arm/wrist in two places this past Saturday.  Fell from a ladder while cutting some limbs.  Surgery “could” be needed but that is not known at the present.

John Vickers is no longer the interim student pastor at 1st Pascagoula.  He is now the student pastor there as they voted to drop the interim label yesterday.  Congratulations John!

Pastor Abel Garcia announced his resignation to his church family in Freeport, TX yesterday morning.  He and his family will be moving to Rainbow City, AL where he has accepted the pastorate of the White Springs Baptist Church.  Pray for 1st Freeport as they lose their pastor and for White Springs as they welcome Pastor Abel & family.  He begins his ministry the first Sunday in January 2014.  Grandma Clara is happy as it puts those grandchildren a few hours closer to Grand Bay.

We enjoyed good services yesterday morning.  Rick & Beth and Lisa & I continue to be blessed by the faithfulness of the young adults Sunday School class.  I am blessed by the faithfulness of all those who are a part of the Friendship family.

Remember, no Wednesday classes/services this week.  We will resume a regular schedule this Sunday, 12/1.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

Sorry for the long comment but this should be on our hearts and minds when we Give Thanks.

There is more disturbing news about an American pastor jailed in Iran since January.

Saeed Abedini, 33, immigrated to America and was imprisoned upon returning to visit family because of his previous work in Iran’s house church movement. He has been tortured frequently in Evin Prison but recently was transferred to a different prison, which poses special dangers.
“We do have a dangerous situation,” says Jordan Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice.
Saeed was moved to a prison that is considered death row, because prisoners have committed crimes such as murder and rape, and they are notoriously violent.

“I can tell you that Saeed’s family again tried to deliver some of his medication and personal belongings from his previous prison, Evin prison, and they were again refused and told to come back next week,” the attorney reports.

Meanwhile, 23 U.S. senators have signed on to a letter by Sen. Ted Cruz asking President Obama to intervene in whatever way he can.

Sekulow, Jordan (ACLJ)”I think it shows that the level of severity of this transfer, the seriousness of it and really the speed that is required,” Sekulow says of the letter. “You know, at this point we’re in a phase through Saeed and all the work that we’re doing to really just try and keep him alive.”

ACLJ has launched a new petition drive directed at President Obama to encourage him to take additional action to free Saeed. There are already well over 200,000 signatures at BeHeardProject.com.
