TUESDAY, 10/31/23

Johnny Sessions had his knee replaced yesterday afternoon and all is well.  I spoke to him and he had already been up walking around.  He should be discharged this morning.  Pray for Johnny!

Linda Green was much better yesterday when I visited with her.  She was talking and asking for water.  The plans were/are to put her in a regular room as soon as one becomes available.  Keep praying for Linda!

Keep praying for Maria Wainwright in her recovery from surgery.

Please continue to pray for our friends, Kristie & John Potts, in Michigan.

Bro. Abel hosted the final time of basketball registration last night.  One hundred and seventy players are in the fold.  All leagues are maxed out!  One thing that Bro. Abel does extremely well is getting folks involved in our sports ministry.  The leagues will begin play in December and to through January.

Speaking of our sports ministry, this Saturday will bring our Fall soccer league to a close.  It has been a good league and I am thankful to each person who helped in any way.  Praise the Lord!

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow.  Lord willing, I will be teaching in the morning and evening Bible studies in the auditorium.  Join us!

Will the CFP selection committee include Michigan in the top four tonight?  Interesting.  (I think they will)

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

Talked to one of Linda Green’s granddaughters last night and she shared that Linda’s condition was basically unchanged.  Lord willing, I will see Linda today.  Keep praying for Linda and her family.

Talked to Logan Wainwright last night and he told me that Maria was recovering nicely.  She has a long road ahead of her so keep praying.

Please continue to pray for Kristie Potts in Michigan.  Pray for her husband, John, and the rest of the family too.

We had a great day in our services yesterday.  Four baptisms in the morning service followed by three salvation decisions during the invitation.  Thank you Jesus!

The Hallelujah Festival went well with probably over five hundred in attendance.  Great spirit, lots and candy and lots of fun.  Thank you to everyone who had a part in making this a success.  To God be the glory!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 10/27/23

Happy fifty-ninth birthday to my younger brother, Freddie.  I hope he will enjoy a great day today!  Freddie is a good guy.  Probably the best of three brothers.  (Eddie is a close second and I am a distant fourth!)  Happy birthday, Freddie.

Eric Harrington’s surgery went well and he came home soon thereafter.  Eric is a fine young man.  (Eric’s surgery did not last long but it did last long enough for Leslee to get to the cafeteria so she could consume some cheese grits.  It is the small things!)

Maria Wainwright will be going into surgery this morning.  They will be repairing her left wrist.  Her faith in God is strong. Pray that all goes well.

The graveside celebration of life for Scott Pouncey will take place this afternoon in the Union Baptist cemetery beginning at 3:00PM.  Keep praying for the Pouncey family.

Regular schedule on our campus this Sunday morning.  We will be observing the ordinance of baptism during our 10:00AM service.  The baptism will come early in that service.

Our annual Hallelujah Festival will take place this Sunday, 10/29, from 4:00 – 6:00PM on the back forty.  Everyone must pass through the auditorium prior to hitting the trail.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.  Looking forward to seeing many members of the Friendship family this Sunday on our campus.

OBITUARY FOR SCOTT BRIAN POUNCEY

Scott Brian Pouncey, age 36, a resident of Grand Bay, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 20, 2023, at a local hospital. He was born in Mobile on May 4, 1987, to Aubie E. and Lesia (Baxter) Pouncey, III. Scott grew up in the Union Church community of Grand Bay and was a member of Union Baptist Church. He loved to ride his 4-wheeler all over the community. He attended Cottage Hill Christian Academy for a few years but graduated from Forest Hill Home School Program in 2005 as Salutatorian of his graduating class. Scott enjoyed playing violin with his friend, Elizabeth Ash, and teacher, Sharissa Manwaring. At the age of 17, he was First Chair for violin with the Bay Area Strings in Mobile.

Scott is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ann Crigler Pouncey and Thelma Baxter. He is survived by his parents, Aubie and Lesia Pouncey; brothers: Aubie E. Pouncey, IV (Karen) and Wesley Williams (Candi); sister, Katie Pouncey Noel (Jordan); his constant companion and fur baby, Ellie; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
A very special recognition to Bill and Debbie Kendrick for sharing their lives with Scott and his parents for over the past 19 years, as well as Gordon and Trula McClinton, Sonja Hunter, his brother Wes, and friends, Nancy Ash and Sandy Miller and Scott’s aunt, Lynne Ishee, for all the love and support given to us and Scott before and after the accident. “Your love and dedication to our son and family has not gone unnoticed and has tremendously blessed us more than words could ever describe!” God bless each and every one of you for all that you have done for us and Scott!

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Theresa Castille, Lisa Ray-Luna, and Doug Pouncey for their loving care of Scott.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 27, 2023, at 3:00 PM from Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Grand Bay, Alabama. The family requests everyone wear casual attire for the service to honor Scott’s life.

THURSDAY, 10/26/23

Happy birthday to my sister, Melissa.  How old?  Yes.  I hope she will have a great day!

Eric Harrington is having outpatient surgery this morning.  The doctor is removing a benign tumor.  If all goes as planned, he will go home an hour or so after the surgery is completed.  Pray and Eric & Leslee.

Maria Wainwright will find out today what time her surgery will take place tomorrow.  Continue to pray for Maria.

The celebration of life service for Scott Pouncey will take place tomorrow afternoon.  I plan on posting his obit later today.

Please continue to pray for Kristie Potts.  Eddie, Deidra and I had a nice visit with her and John on Tuesday afternoon.  Kristie is so strong in her faith.  Will you join me in praying for a miracle for Kristie?  Thank you.

I have not heard any update on Dede’s surgery but I do ask that you continue to pray for her.

Can I ask a personal favor?  Please continue to pray for Deidra, Lizzi, Sydney & Audrey.  The sting of death is real!

We will observe the ordinance of baptism as a part of our morning worship this Sunday, 10/29.  Those desiring to be baptized should come prepared to be baptized at the very beginning of our worship service.  We start on time so any family members attending for the baptism need to be in place early.

Our annual “Hallelujah Festival” will take place Sunday afternoon.  I think the time is from 4:00 until 6:00PM.  Looking forward to a night of faith, fun and fellowship.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

Eric Harrington will be having surgery tomorrow morning.  They are going to remove a tumor.  Pray for all to go well.

A graveside service will take place for Scott Pouncey on Friday afternoon beginning at 3:00PM at the Union Baptist Church cemetery.  Keep praying for the Pouncey family.

Regular schedule on our campus today.

Friendship family, remember the sweets!

Deidra spoke to around eighty folks in Michigan last night and did an excellent job.  God used her!  I am very thankful to our Michigan friends and the tremendous love and support they have given to our family and the ministry opportunities through GRACE Ministries.

TUESDAY, 10/24/23

No updates on those for whom we have been praying.  Just keep praying especially for Maria as she recovers from her injuries.

Members of the Friendship family are asked to bring bags to candy to the church office today, tomorrow or Thursday.  Or, you can bring them to one of the services tomorrow.  Actually, you can bring them to the service this Sunday morning, 10/29.  Mama always said the “beggars cannot be choosy!”

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow morning and evening.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 10/23/23 – AFTERNOON EDITION

Better late than never?  If so, we are good!

Scott Pouncey has been on our prayer list for years.  This past Friday, 10/20, Scott was promoted from this life.  Pray for his parents, Aubie & Leisa.  They have been faithful parents.  Bill & Debbie Kendrick have been faithful friends.

Here is an update on Maria Wainwright.  These quotes are coming from Maria’s daughter, Brittney: “In the process she broke her wrist and severely dislocated her thumb.”.  “But Praise God there was no concussion or severe head trauma!” “She is to follow up with an orthopedic doctor this week because surgery will be needed to be able to work her hand again.”  Keep praying for Maria.  She is a very strong believer in Jesus!

I ask that you keep praying for Kristie Potts in Michigan.

We have a few more days for folks to bring “sweets” for the upcoming Hallelujah Festival.  Take them by the church office any day this week or bring them to the service this Wednesday, 10/25.

I pray that you will have a great Monday afternoon with Jesus.
