FRIDAY, 7/31/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 29:1-36 Romans 14:1-23 Psalm 24:1-10 Proverbs 20:12

It is with a sad heart that I write that Miss Cookie Rainey passed from this life yesterday afternoon around 6:30PM.  She fought valiantly but simply had too many things working against her physically.  Pray for Pastor Terry and their daughter, Shannon.  Arrangements pending.

Friendship family, prayer is important!  That is why we have our Tuesday night prayer service where all we do is pray.  I am calling on as many members as possible to be present this Tuesday night in order to pray for Carla Kyser.  She was told yesterday that she has a small spot on her liver and fluid around her right lung.  She will have the fluid drained today.  The pathology report is not back regarding the spot on her liver but the doctor believes it is disease.  Pray for Carla!  (We will obviously be praying for others and other needs on Tuesday night but this could be a crucial time in Carla’s life)

Ashley Crawley came home from the hospital yesterday.  I am not sure how well she is feeling but at least she is at home.

Holly Isom remains in the hospital.

Pastor Donald Sewer remains hospitalized.

Kirk & Michelle Lightfield are the proud parents of a grandson.  Mother and baby are doing well.

Water in the mission house yet?  Nope!  We thought the problem had been corrected around 8:30PM last night only to discover another problem.  Hopefully, it can be corrected today.  (We are bringing in water to flush the toilets but not enough for showers)

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 7/30/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 26:1-28:27 Romans 13:1-14 Psalm 23:1-6 Proverbs 20:11

Good morning from Guatemala.  I arrived here safe and sound yesterday afternoon.  The rental car guy, Oscar, was kind enough to meet me at the airport and bring me to the GRACE mountain.  We are blessed to have some great friends in this country.

Miss Cookie Rainey’s situation remains critical with the doctors giving her no hope.  Pastor Terry sent me an e-mail yesterday saying that they are still trusting Jesus.  Keep praying, please.

Rita Boutwell sent me an e-mail yesterday afternoon telling me that Pastor Donald Sewer is in ICU in a local hospital.  He continues to have major problems with his heart.

I do not have an update on Ashley Crawley or Holly Isom but do ask that you keep praying for them.  Ashley as she deals with the blood clot and Holly as she recovers from surgery on her knee.

I assume that Edna Pearl’s knee surgery was a success too.  Knowing Edna Pearl, she will be back at work in very short order.

Kirk & Michelle Lightfield of Guatemala will become grandparents again today as their daughter, Amanda, will have a c-section this morning.  Pray that all goes well.  Amanda will be in a private hospital in Chimaltenango.

We have forty four folks traveling to Guatemala today.  Pray for their safety in traveling.

Upon my arrival to the GRACE mountain yesterday afternoon, I was almost immediately taken down to the well.  Three guys are cleaning it.  They were in hopes of connecting the water by tomorrow (Friday).  Thanks to a lot of help from Kirk Lightfield, I was able to convince them to try for this afternoon.  We shall see.  No promises.

I did walk over and visit with the NC team last night.  They were so very gracious even though they have been here for eight days with no water.  Wow!

You are not going to believe the following but is is true –  as Pastor Jack Bailey would say, “so help me Hannah!”  Going through the mail this past Tuesday, 7/28, and there it was – a Christmas card!  Picture and everything.  Yes, the postmark was current.  I just cannot figure out if it was late (2014) or early (2015).  Who was it from?  I will answer by saying this – “beauty and the beast” would describe this couple.  (I would tell you but it would embarrass Miss Toby and I may need James to preach for us again some day so I best not!) Karla Cooper is just shaking her head and thinking, “I can believe it!”

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 7/29/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 24:1-25:28 Romans 12:1-21 Psalm 22:19-31 Proverbs 20:8-10

This entry is being sent from the Gulfport airport as I am headed to Guatemala.  Our team departs tomorrow but there are a couple of things I need to do plus I want to be ready for the group when they arrive tomorrow.

We had twenty six folks show up for prayer meeting last night.  I have to give a shout out to Rusty Suthoff as he came for the last hour which allowed me to go do some mowing before leaving this morning.  Rusty is solid!

Ashley Crawley was not doing great when I visited with her yesterday.  She was continuing to have a lot of pain.  Hopefully they were able to get her some relief yesterday.   The blood clot is in her right lung.

Miss Cookie Rainey is not doing well at all.  The doctors are not hopeful at all.  Pray for everyone involved in that situation.

Brian Amonett had a much better day yesterday per the report sent to me by Debbie.  Bill & Debbie have been faithful to keep me updated and I am grateful.

Holly Isom will have knee surgery today.  Holly has been to Guatemala with us a couple of times and serves as “boss” to several within the Friendship family.

I was totally wrong about Eddie Whitmore’s chemo treatments.  He did not have a treatment last week but will have one this week.  Imagine me being wrong!

Miss Mary Jackson did well through her eye surgery this past Monday.

Mariam called the office and said that Jimmy Moates did well with his treatment this past Monday.  He continues to make improvement.

Tommy Johnson & Brenda Timberlake both have the shingles near their eye.  Painful!

Caroline Ford got a good report from the doctor regarding a recent test.  She does not have a major disease.  She is feeling better each day.  That is a good thing.  The doctors cannot help her mentally but we already knew that!

Still no water on the mountain in Guatemala.  The folks from NC have not had water at all this week.  I feel badly for them.  Of course, I will join them tonight and I already know that the earliest the pump will be working will be at some point tomorrow.  It is what it is!  Will make me appreciate the shower I had earlier today.

Regular schedule this morning and evening.  Lisa is doing meatball subs for the 7:30PM Bible study.  Either Davy or Soy will lead that study.  Bro. Jerry is preaching in the 10:00AM & 6:30PM Bible studies in the auditorium.

Want to know if your father-in-law does not like you?  If he plants Mayhaw trees and lets you mow around them then he does not like you!  I am offering a $5 reward for anyone who can make three Mayhaw trees disappear while I am away!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 7/28/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 21:1-23:21 Romans 11:13-36 Psalm 22:1-18 Proverbs 20:7

Robin Corley passed from this life on Sunday afternoon.  There will be a visitation at Serenity Funeral Home this morning beginning at 9:00AM until around 9:45AM.  A graveside service will then take place at 10:00AM in Serenity Memorial Gardens.  The arrangements were Robin’s request.  Pray for the Corley family.

Edna Pearl Morgan will have knee surgery today at noon.  It will be done with a scope and she will come home later today.  Pray that everything goes well.

Ashley Crawley was in church and Sunday School on Sunday.  She was admitted to the hospital on Sunday because of pain and an inability to breathe freely.  The medical staff found a blood clot in area somewhere near one of her lungs.  Tyrone said that she would most likely be in the hospital through today.  I will visit again this morning and will get an update.  Ashley is a very sweet young lady!

Visited with Brian Amonett’s parents last night.  Brian continues to be on that proverbial roller coaster.  Just keep praying for Brian and his family.

Carla Kyser had scans done yesterday and will have more done today.  Pray for her.  (Carla is a sweetheart but please do not tell her that I said that as she might get the big head!)

Eddie Whitmore has the week off from chemo.  Becky Sellers continues to be her positive self.  Lisa Thompson is hanging in there.  Pray for these folks.

Prayer meeting tonight from 5:00 – 7:00PM in the auditorium.  Please use the West side door to enter/exit.  We are praying for revival.  I am in hopes that at least thirty folks will take time to come and pray this afternoon/evening.  Will you join us?

We are changing the dates of our June 2016 GRACE trip to Thursday, June 23, through Thursday, June 30.  Another team requested the dates we have used for a few years and we decided to accommodate their request. I have changed my trip dates several times in the past as it is not about us but about what is best for the Kingdom’s work.   Friendship family members can sign up during August for that June 2016 trip as well as the Thursday, July 28, through Thursday, August 4, 2016 trip.

Speaking of Guatemala, still no water on the mountain.  I think our neighbors still have some in their reserve tanks but the mission house, the apartments, and the feeding center are bone dry!  Pray that this situation can be remedied today.

Dr. Rex, please check your e-mail this morning and send me a reply.  Thanks!

Charles Suthoff saw me out weed eating this past Saturday afternoon and noticed the extremely unusual amount of sweat that was pouring from my body.  He had compassion.  Bernard saw me too but just basically ignored me with no offer to help or even to bring me something to drink – wow!  Are they really brothers?

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.  Remember the Corley family in your prayers this morning.

Saturday, 8/1 – 2 Chronicles 30:1-31:21 Romans 15:1-22 Psalm 25:1-15 Proverbs 20:13-15

Sunday, 8/2 – 2 Chronicles 32:1-33:13 Romans 15:23-16:9 Psalm 25:16-22 Proverbs 20:16-18

Happy birthday to my sister-in-law, Sue!  How old?  Cannot say!  Will say that she voted for Lincoln!  Sue, hope your day is great!

We had a really blessed day in our services yesterday.  God is so good to us.  The prayer time around the altar for the young girl, Roxanne, was special.  God used Miss Vinnie to pray a really great prayer for Roxanne.

Also last night, the Friendship family unanimously voted to accept the 2015 – 16 budget proposed by the Finance Committee.  Once again, I appreciate the work of that committee and feel that we have a workable budget.

We also enjoyed singing #10 last night!  Wow, the Friendship family has embraced that song big time!

Robin Corley is very low according to Gloria Whitmore after her conversation yesterday with Robin’s daughter.  Pray for Robin and her family.

Miss Mary Jackson is having eye surgery this morning.  The surgery last Monday went well so pray this one does too.

Carla Kyser will have scans today and tomorrow.  She is scheduled to get the results on 8/11.  Pray that the doctors can get a clear picture of why she has been having so many problems with her jaw (outside of talking too much!  LOL!).  Carla is a sweetheart!

Brian Amonett remains on that proverbial roller coaster.  Pray for him, the doctors and his family.

Miss Cookie Rainey remains in critical condition.  She is not responding to anyone and the doctors are somewhat confused as to why as they say it is not a result of medication.  She is not on any meds for her blood pressure and her kidneys worked a little more yesterday.  She still needs a miracle so keep praying.

Jamie Hyatt should have come home from the hospital yesterday.  I do not have an update on Lisa Thompson as her sister, Brenda, has been sick and missed yesterday’s services.

There is still no water on the mountain in Guatemala.  (Actually, there is water but it is deep in the ground and our pump is broken and cannot get it out!)  Pray that situation gets rectified today, please.  Pray for the team (1st Baptist Wilmington, NC) presently there doing ministry.

There will be a men’s breakfast this Saturday, 8/1, beginning at 8:00AM in the fellowship hall.  All men are invited to attend.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

SUNDAY, 7/26/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 17:1-18:34 Romans 9:25-10:13 Psalm 20:1-9 Proverbs 20:2-3

Miss Cookie Rainey’s situation basically remains unchanged.  She is still critical.  They have her on two meds to help keep her blood pressure up.  Her kidneys are not functioning much at all.  Pray for her, the doctors, Pastor Terry, Shannon, the Motlow Creek Church family and all involved in this situation.

Regular schedule today – morning and evening.  We will have a meeting at 4:00PM to discuss the proposed budget.  My prayer is that this will simply be a time to gather and thank God for His financial blessings on the Friendship family.  Amen!

The Lord was good to me yesterday.  I spent about three hours or so weed eating and in that time He allowed it to rain softly on me and then sent a cloud cover that was a huge blessing.  I am so thankful to Him for even the little things.

I pray that you will have a great Sunday with Jesus.  Go to church!

SATURDAY, 7/25/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 14:1-16:14 Romans 9:1-24 Psalm 19:1-14 Proverbs 20:1

Sorry this entry is a bit late.  I am in a hospital surgery waiting room.  Had plans to blog earlier but they were a little late getting the patient back to surgery.  Who is having surgery?  Private matter.

Miss Cookie made it through surgery.  She is still very critical.  Keep praying!

The service for the men from the Mission of Hope went well last night.  Randall, Rita, Lynda & Adriana all did a nice job of ministering in song.  Thanks to everyone from the Friendship family who helped in any way.

Regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  It is my prayer that many members of the Friendship family will be faithful to attend.  This will be our last Sunday of this church year.  Bring a friend and join us.  Lord willing, I will be preaching all three services.

August will be the month for members of the Friendship family to sign up for the two Summer 2016 GRACE trips that will be led by me.  The dates for the one in June are not in concrete yet.  The August dates will be Thursday, July 28, through Thursday, August 4.  A two hundred dollar non-refundable deposit will be due in order to hold one’s spot.  The best way to sign up is by sending me an e-mail.  After 8/31/15, we will fill any vacancies with folks from other churches.  I fully expect both of these trips to be at capacity immediately once they are open to other churches.

The new ac unit in the CAB is installed and running.  The ice machine is working as well.

Someone bush hogged the front part of the back forty.  I appreciate that!

Charles, Soy & I got the mowing done yesterday.  I was able to do some eating of weeds.  Plans were to be eating more early today but plans get changed.  Will Reynolds is going to come help me weed eat this afternoon – what a great guy!

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS

Just received word that they have taken Miss Cookie Rainey into surgery as a last resort.  The doctors says that she needs a miracle.  Would you stop right now and voice a prayer for this situation?

Brian Amonett continues to be on that proverbial roller coaster.  He began running an elevated temperature yesterday so now he is on antibiotics.  His family is worn out physically, emotionally, et cetera.  Pray for Brian and that situation too.

FRIDAY, 7/24/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 11:1-13:22 Romans 8:26-39 Psalm 18:37-50 Proverbs 19:27-29

Miss Cookie Rainey is not doing well.  They did take her off the vent yesterday but last word we heard last night is that they “thought” they were going to have to put her back on it.  Her situation is critical.  Pray for her, the medical folks, Pastor Terry and Shannon.

Heard from Bro. Chris via iMessage last night.  There were two or three students from our church who prayed to receive Jesus as their personal Savior last night as well as other decisions.   Praise the Lord.  Let’s pray that this is the beginning of a mighty move of God in our midst.  Our students will be returning home today so pray for them as they travel.

The service with the men from the Mission of Hope takes place tonight in our church auditorium beginning at 7:00PM.  Everyone is invited.  It would be good if you could bring a dish of food to help feed the men after the service.  You can simply bring it when you come to the service.  Randall, Rita & Lynda will be leading the worship through song.  Pray for this service and attend if you can.

The deep well pump in the mission house in Guatemala has gone out which means the team that is presently there does not have any water.  Pray that the technicians can pull the pump today, find the problem, and get it repaired quickly.

Speaking of repairs, we had one of the big ac units go out in the CAB.  The process of replacing it was started yesterday and should be completed today.  I am not sure why it went out as it was basically a new unit having been installed in 1982 – they just do not make them like they used to!  Thank God for air conditioning and for the ability to replace one when it goes bad.  God is good!

We are on a regular schedule this Sunday morning and evening.  We will have the meeting at 4:00PM to discuss the budget but in reality is should just be a time of praise and thanksgiving to God for His goodness to the Friendship family.  Folks, we are so blessed!

Major grass cutting day today.  I enjoy yard work but the weather has been hot enough recently that it can take a little of the joy out of it.  However, I am grateful to be able to get out and do yard work.  I could be like Rusty and not be able to get out because of a recent surgery – wait, Rusty did not get out and do yard work before his surgery.  Scratch that example!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 7/23/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Chronicles 8:11-10:19 Romans 8:9-25 Psalm 18:16-36 Proverbs 19:26

Kayla & Maci are scheduled to be discharged from the hospital today.

Jamie Hyatt could be discharged today but it is more likely he will be discharged tomorrow.

As far as I know, Lisa Thompson, Catherine Leach and Brian Amonett all remain hospitalized.

Eddie Whitmore will have another chemo treatment today.

Teresa Ladnier told me last night that her dad, Jimmy Moates, is doing good.

Tyrone said last night in the service that Ashley is struggling some in her recovery from rotator cuff surgery.  Pray that her recovery will get easier.

Today will be the last day for this year’s GO camp and the students will be returning home tomorrow.  Pray for them.

The once a month service hosted by the Friendship family  for the men from the Mission of Hope takes place tomorrow night in our auditorium beginning at 7:00PM.  Randall, Rita & Lynda and maybe others will be sharing the Word in song.  Everyone is invited to attend this service.  If possible, bring food to help feed the men after the service.

If you are providing food/drinks or clothes/items to help Maria Wainwright this weekend,  please bring those things to the CAB tomorrow between the hours of 5:00 – 7:00PM.  Thank you in advance to those who are going to help.

Zach Huhn is about to begin his final week of Summer Missions in San Francisco, CA as he is set to return home next Friday, 7/31.  (I suspect there will be a slight change in the weather for him)  Pray that this last week will be the best week of the Summer for Zach and those working with him.  (Pray that she says “yes!”)

We have been doing our young adult Bible study on Wednesday nights for around fifteen years.  We have never felt “safer” in one of this Bible studies than we did last night as Officer Tripp was present and he was packing heat.

Did you know that Grand Bay is about to get a new restaurant and a coffee shop?  “Holy Smoke Bar-b-que” and “Chit Chat Coffee Shop” are both set to open around the middle of August.  Just FYI with more details to come later.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.
