SATURDAY, 7/4/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 23:31-25:30 Acts 22:17-23:10 Psalm 2:1-12 Proverbs 18:13

Happy Fourth of July!

We will have one service tomorrow which will begin at 10:30AM.  I hope those of us in town will be faithful to attend!

Received word via e-mail yesterday that the young girl, Ani, age 19, from Casa Alleluya who was involved in the automobile accident this week passed away early yesterday morning.  So, Mike & Dottie, along with everyone involved with Casa needs our prayer support.

The same remains true for Miss Kittie’s friend, Monette Nations, and her family in the passing of her son, Scott.

Jimmy Moates was discharged from the hospital on Thursday arriving home around 10:00PM.

Soy & I had an uneventful trip to Hartselle and back.  I was able to spend about four hours with my parents and to see two of my siblings and other family members.  As I remember it, I did the lion’s share of the driving but I am not complaining as Soy’s snoring helped keep me awake.  I was able to stop in Pelham on the way home and buy Lisa a “prize” which got me some huge brownie points!

The okra is calling my name and I then need to do some push mowing and weed eating – nothing major today.

I pray that you will have a safe and happy holiday today!

FRIDAY, 7/3/15 (UPDATED)

Miss Monette Nations lives in Jackson, MS and has been a friend to Miss Kittie Camp for many years.  As a matter of fact, she stood with Miss Kittie in her wedding.   Last night, Miss Monette’s son, Scott, passed away very unexpectedly.  Miss Kittie will travel to Jackson today to be with Miss Monette.  I simply ask that you pray for this family during this most difficult time.

FRIDAY, 7/3/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 22:3-23:30 Acts 21:37-22:16 Psalm 1:1-6 Proverbs 18:11-12

I never received word if Jimmy Moates was discharged from the hospital or not yesterday.  Either way, he needs our prayer support.

Stella Brinkman will have a procedure done on her heart next Tuesday, 7/7.

Infant Hunter Brewer remains hospitalized.

A couple from the States has been staying at Casa Aleluya in Guatemala.  They just recently made the decision to move there permanently.  They were involved in an automobile accident on Tuesday which took the wife’s life and injured the husband and three others who were with them.  The husband and one of the others remain hospitalized.  I do know their names but that is all I know meaning that I do not know where they are from, their ages, et cetera.  Pray for the husband, his family, and the girl who is in the hospital as she has already undergone surgery with more surgeries on the immediate horizon.  Pray for Mike & Dottie.

I am doing something today that I have been needing to do for some time.  I am driving to Hartselle, AL to visit my parents and other family members.  That is the good news.  The probably not so good news is that I am driving back to Grand Bay today too.  Hey, it is only 700 miles round trip and will only take about ten or so hours.  The bad news is that Soy is going with me to help with the driving.  I want to be home for the Fourth and in the pulpit on Sunday morning.

I was able to get a ton of yard work done yesterday.  Charles & Soy joined me and we were able to mow the entire fifteen acres.  Will have a little push mowing and weed eating to do on Saturday but nothing major.  I am thankful!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 7/2/15 (UPDATED)

As I mentioned in my earlier entry, Mya Johnson did not have surgery today.  I knew that last night.

Went to the surgery center at the appointed time to be with Rusty Suthoff during his surgical procedure.  Prayed with him and then left to go make hospital visits.  Upon arriving back at the surgery center, no Suthoffs were to be found (there were five family members there when I left).  Long story short – Rusty’s surgery got cancelled.  Why?  Well, I was not there but rumor has it that he cried for Bernard to stay with him during the actual surgical procedure and the doctor would not allow it.  When Rusty would not give in, the doctor just cancelled the whole thing.  Folks, understand that I was not there so I cannot verify the accuracy of this report but I do tend to believe it!  (Please do not take me serious!)  The surgery will eventually take place but not today or tomorrow.  I would like to personally thank Rusty for messing up a perfectly good off day for me!  (That is why I do not feel bad about crushing him in “hearts” last night!)

Eula Mae Blackmon was simply waiting on the paper work to be completed before moving to the rehab facility.

Jimmy Moates was waiting to see the doctor but was in great hopes that he would be discharged this afternoon as planned.  He does not like the hospital at all!

The grass is calling my name!

THURSDAY, 7/2/15

Today’s Bible reading – 02 2 Kings 20:1-22:2 Acts 21:18-36 Psalm 150:1-6 Proverbs 18:9-10

Rusty Suthoff will have surgery on his knee this afternoon.  He tore his ACL five or six weeks ago playing in the TNBA.  This will not be a scope job but the traditional surgery.  Pray that all goes well.

Mya Johnson, age 5, was set to have surgery today as well but those plans were cancelled due to some type of conflict with the hospital.  So, hopefully she can get on a schedule soon.

Jimmy Moates’ procedure went well yesterday.  He should be discharged from the hospital today.

Eula Mae Blackmon is set to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility today.  She is so ready to get out of the hospital.

Willie Johnson’s brother, Ross, passed away in Georgia.  Not sure about the arrangements as Ross’ wife had an automobile accident the day of his passing.  Pray for the family.

We had a really good day in our services yesterday and last night.

Remember, only one service this Sunday, 7/5, and that service begins at 10:30AM.

Since Mya’s surgery was cancelled, I will not be working this morning.  (The church office is closed in celebration of the 4th)  However, I will attend Rusty’s surgery this afternoon.  I am available, if needed, by any member of the Friendship family.

Lord willing, tomorrow I will drive to Hartselle to visit my parents and other family members.  I plan on being back late tomorrow night.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 7/1/15

Today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 18:13-19:37 Acts 21:1-7 Psalm 149:1-9 Proverbs 18:8

Jimmy Moates will have a feeding tube inserted today.  Prayerfully, this will allow him to regain his strength and to put on some of the weight he has lost.  Pray for Jimmy, Mariam and the family.

Eula Mae will most likely go to a physical rehab facility for at least a few days.  I am thinking that will happen tomorrow.  Her daughter, Diane, will be traveling to Grand Bay this weekend to be with her mother.

Lord willing, I will visit with Jimmy & Eula Mae after this morning’s service.

Caroline Ford continues to have physical problems and needs our prayer support.  She is at home but the medical folks just seemingly cannot pinpoint the exact cause of her problems.

Went to visit Robin Corley yesterday but she was not at home.  Hopefully, I will be able to see her either today or tomorrow.

We are on a regular schedule this morning and evening.  Lisa and I have not reached a definite decision as to the fare for tonight’s 7:30PM Bible study.  She is extremely busy at work so it will be something easy on her.  It will be good, I promise.

Finally heard from Katie T.  Says her grandmother continues to need our prayers.  Also, said she missed Sunday School and was late for the service this past Sunday because of Grant.  Really?  I find that hard to believe.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
