THURSDAY, 11/3/16

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”  (Psalm 19:14 KJV)

Today’s Bible reading – Mark 11; John 12

This entry is way late and for that I apologize.  Some computer problems but the greater issue has been connection issues.  I have asked Pastor Jack Bailey to speak to Al about this matter.

Tom Thornton did well through his surgery.

Sandra McElwee sent me a message last night to say that David will be having either a stent placed or by pass surgery.  He had a stress test yesterday.  Pray for David.

Tommy Johnson’s mother will have a PET scan today.

The memorial service for Margaret Sevilla, Nancy West’s mother, takes place this afternoon at 5:00PM from O’Bryant/O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.  The visitation with the family takes place from 4:00 – 5:00PM.  Thanks to everyone who helped with the meal last night.

It is my understanding that Miss Mary Jackson will have a heart cath tomorrow.  Do not know any other details at this time.

Nadine Holifield’s mother will have a PET scan tomorrow.

My dad is also scheduled to have a PET scan tomorrow.

One hundred and sixteen years later, Cubs win!  Did not watch much of it and certainly did not stay watch after the rain delay.  Too much reading and such to do at that point.  (Had it been Alabama football – different story!  LOL!)  Congratulations to Pastor Wes Bates and all of my Michigan fans who suddenly have become Cubs fans.

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 11/2/16 (SECOND ENTRY)

Bernard & Pattie Suthoff are traveling to Mississippi today to welcome another grandchild into the family.  Pray for a safe delivery and for safe travels.

Failed to mention in my earlier entry that there were four salvation decisions at McKemie Place last night.  Randall & Rita are doing a nice job of coordinating that ministry.  I believe that Dana Taylor was the speaker last night.  We give God the glory for His blessings!

Men’s breakfast in the fellowship hall this Saturday, 11/5, from 8:00 – 9:00AM.  All men invited to attend.

WEDNESDAY, 11/2/16

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”  (Psalm 19:14 KJV)

Today’s Bible reading – Luke 18:15-19:48

Sarah Thornton’s husband, Tom, is having surgery today.  Bro. Jerry is covering this one as I have the morning service.  It is another hip replacement.  Pray that all goes well.

As far as I know, no other significant changes in those for whom we have been praying.  Just keep praying especially for those battling cancer.

In July of 2011, two brothers, Aaron & Aric Geurink, from Michigan were a part of our GRACE Ministries mission team.  Good guys and really good workers.  Yesterday morning their father was involved in a heavy equipment accident on their farm and it proved to be fatal.  He was fifty five years old.  Pray for the Geurink family.

The visitation with Nancy West and family takes place tomorrow afternoon followed by the memorial service for her mother, Mrs. Sevilla.  Everything is at O’Bryant/O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, MS.  Pray for the family.

Regular schedule this morning and evening.  The fare for the 7:30PM Bible study is meatball subs, chips, cookies and ice cream.

That “little girl” scream you heard last night was Pastor Wes Bates as the Cubs won game six.  That groan you heard was Pastor Jack Bailey as the Cubs won game six.  I did not watch the game.  May watch some of tonight’s game if it is close.  Otherwise, I do not have a dog in that fight and will not watch.

Rusty Suthoff has begun sending me messages about this Saturday’s game between Bama and his beloved LSWho Tigers.  Detailing his victory plans.  Really?

In our “believe it or not” category, Sam Schjott called me yesterday.  I thought Sam had died or something!  However, I knew when he needed to borrow money again that the would call and he did!  Is there not someone in Monroeville who can loan him one hundred dollars?

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 11/1/16

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”  (Psalm 19:14 KJV)

Today’s Bible reading – Matthew 20-21
Wednesday, November 2 – Luke 18:15-19:48
Thursday, November 3 – Mark 11; John 12
Friday, November 4 – Matthew 22; Mark 12
Saturday, November 5 – Matthew 23; Luke 20-21
Sunday, November 6 – Mark 13

Our prayer time took a huge hit last night because many folks were involved in family activities.  This did not take me by surprise and I am very thankful for those who were able to come pray.  Also thankful for those who were able to spend time with their family.

Tim Knighten was one or our prayer partners last night.  I ask you to join me in praying for Tim as he readies himself for the PET scan, treatment, et cetera.

Tom Thornton is scheduled for surgery in the morning.

Visited Charles Suthoff yesterday and he seemed to be doing good physically.  He was not as “sharp” with his answers as he was last week but he was good.  (Come to think of it, Bernard’s answers are not always “sharp!”  LOL!)

Remember, the deadline to “adopt” a child from the angel tree has been extended to this Sunday, 11/6.  Contact Glenda Chinners for more information.

Our annual Thanksgiving meal for the senior adults of our community will take place on Thursday, 11/17, from 10:00AM until noon.  It would be helpful if our senior adults would sign up in advance (not an absolute requirement but helpful).  This meal is for any senior adult in this area.

It is possible that I will be driving to Louisiana at some point today in a matter related to GRACE Ministries.  I am being “flexible” on this one.

Can the Indians close it out tonight?  Or will the Cubs force a game seven?  We shall see!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

ANGEL TREE

Glenda Chinners has extended the deadline for “adopting” a child from the angel tree.  The deadline is now this Sunday, 11/6.  Contact Glenda for more information.  Her number is 458 7493.  You can fully “adopt” a child or give any amount toward this ministry cause.  All families receiving gifts through this ministry will be required to be in our Christmas Eve service and then will get their gifts after the service.  This will give us the opportunity to share the Gospel with them.  Sponsors can also be involved when the families receive their gifts.  So, if interested, please contact Glenda.  Thank you!

MONDAY, 10/31/16

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”  (Psalm 19:14 KJV)

Today’s Bible reading – Matthew 19; Mark 10

Tim Knighten is supposed to receive a call from the doctor today with the results of the biopsy.  Someone shared a FB post written by Tim and it was amazing.  He has such a positive outlook.  Let’s pray that the doctor was incorrect and he biopsy comes back good.

Sara Thornton’s husband, Tom, will have hip replacement surgery this Wednesday.

Carla Kyser was in our services yesterday and was her usual cheerful self.

It was also good to see Miss Kittie Camp in our morning service yesterday.

I had two meetings yesterday afternoon so I did not get to the Hallelujah Festival until around 6:30PM.  I was amazed at the number of vehicles in the parking lot and the CAB was teeming with people.  I am told that between 5:30 – 6:00PM you literally could not get in the CAB due to the sheer number of people.  Amazing!

TJ & Lindsey Vice did a nice job of coordinating this ministry opportunity and they had tons of helpers.  Thank you to each person who helped in any way with the set up, the games and the clean up.   Thank you to those who gave candy!

Want to hear the greatest news of the night?  Two young men prayed to receive Jesus as their personal Savior!  Much evangelism was done and Jonny Gaston led that ministry.  We give God the glory!

Prayer time in the auditorium tonight from 5:00 – 7:00PM.   Use the West side door to enter/exit.

Cubs win! Cubs win!  Cubs win!  (Disclaimer – I am not a fan of the Indians or the Cubs and did not even watch last night’s game)  Will the Indians close the deal tomorrow night?  If so, Pastor Jack will be ecstatic!  If not, Pastor Wes will be.  Regardless of who wins this thing, I will have at least one happy fellow minister.  Me?  Focused on Baton Rouge this Saturday night at 7:00PM!  LOL!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 10/28/16

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”  (Psalm 19:14 KJV)

Today’s Bible reading – Luke 16-17:10

Tim Knighten will be having surgery at some point this morning.  Pray for him and the doctor performing the operation.

Lisa Thompson was admitted to the hospital yesterday.  She has been in severe pain.  There is a no visitors at this point.

Ruby Gulley could possibly be discharged from the hospital today.

Courtney & Lilly Grace are doing good.  I suspect they will be discharged tomorrow or Sunday.  We thank God for a safe delivery.

Mission of Hope service tonight at 7:00PM in the church auditorium.  The men will be fed in the fellowship hall beginning at 6:00PM. The meal is for the men but everyone is invited/welcome to the service which will feature the music of Randall, Rita and others.

Hallelujah Festival this Sunday, 10/30, from 5:00 until 7:00PM in the CAB.

The annual GRACE Ministries pig roast went well with an attendance of 170 (+/-).  Kirk Lightfield did a nice job of sharing about the work of GRACE Ministries.  Tom & Shari Compagner and a host of others did a superb job of cooking the pig, the other food, setting up, cleaning up, et cetera and I am thankful.

Lisa and I arrived in Grand Rapids to temperatures of about forty degrees – hallelujah!  It is supposed to warm up (59) today.  These folks have been getting lots of rain too.  I may try to bring some home!

BTW, all of these Michigan fans are crowing about the Wolverines wanting Alabama in a football game.  I just listened!  Lots of games to be played between now and the end of November.

I pray that you will have a great Friday.
