MONDAY, 4/25/22

Steve Morris will meet with an oncologist this afternoon at 2:00PM.  Pray for Steve & Virginia!

Tim & Peggy Knighten are patiently waiting until their appointment at M.D. Anderson on May 10.  Keep praying.

Myrtle Bowden was not in our services yesterday due to her chemo treatments.  Keep praying for Myrtle too!

Terry Brinkman remains in the ICU.  Obviously, prayers still needed.

Elaine Brown continues her regiment of chemo pills and radiation.  Pray for Elaine.

Rodney Whitehurst will begin his third week of radiation today and then have a treatment tomorrow and another one on Wednesday.  Keep praying for Rodney.

Keep praying for Donnie Felps.

Keith & Aninha Barrett will begin their trip home from Pennsylvania tomorrow.  I am not sure what time they will begin this trip but knowing them it will be like midnight!  Pray for their traveling safety.

The Lord blessed us with a good day in our services yesterday.  We give Him praise.  Bro. Abel did a nice job with the soccer teams recognition last night.

Ok, calling all crawfish eaters!  We need those who have not signed up for our crawfish/shrimp boil set for Sunday, May 8, beginning at 5:00PM to do so no later than this coming Sunday, May 1.  We just need to get an estimate as to how many to expect so adequate food can be prepared.  Call the church office or sign up this Wednesday, 4/27, or Sunday, 5/1, in the services.

Senior adults, we need for you to sign up for the lunch that will be provided for you in our CAB immediately following the 10:30AM service on May 1.  Contact Bro. Jerry Hovel for more information.

Summer is here in Grand Bay, Alabama!  The ten day forecast calls for lows in the upper fifties tonight and tomorrow night.  After that, the daily highs will be in the eighties and the lows in the sixties.  Good for gardens.  Not good for me!  By the way, it appears the rainy season has begun in Guatemala which is a good thing.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus!

FRIDAY, 4/22/22

The most important thing I will post today is that today, April 22, 2022, is Jason Husband’s fifty second birthday!  Happy birthday, Jason!  Call or text him today (601) 382 1200.  He will be thrilled to hear from you!  (For those who do not know, Jason is Kevin & Tina Sprinkle’s oldest son!)  My hope is that Jason will have an awesome day!

Edna Pearl sent me a message saying that the new trach was put in place yesterday and is working.  Keep praying for Terry.

Otherwise, there are no updates for those for whom we have been praying.  Just to continue to pray!

Our soccer leagues continue play tomorrow.  Pray for this ministry.  Thanks to Bro. Abel for leading it!

Regular schedule on our campus this Sunday! Our deacons will meet at 3:00 and 5:00PM.  Our Finance Committee will meet at 4:00PM.  Study in Romans begins at 4:45PM.

Will someone please tell our daughter, Daphne, that her dad has a hard enough time keeping his weight “somewhat down” without her bringing him Hope’s cheese cakes?  She has brought me Hope’s for the past two weeks.  Oh my, absolutely delicious!  In my opinion, best cheesecake ever!

Today is supposed to be a nice day weather wise but tomorrow is supposed to be amazing!  Enjoy these days!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 4/21/22 (SECOND ENTRY)

Steve Morris met with the nephrologist and was told that if his malignancy is contained to the kidneys then his case is curable.  Said they will not know about the effectiveness of the left kidney until the right kidney is removed.  He is in kidney failure.  Keep praying as Steve will see the oncologist on Monday.

Edna Pearl updated me on Terry’s situation.  The trach they tried to use on Tuesday proved to be defective.  So, they had to revert to placing the vent tube in his mouth.  Plans are to get a new trach today.  Pray that happens and will be effective.

Talked to Miss Kittie via the phone.  They drained a lot of fluid off of one lung yesterday.  She said that she is breathing better now.  Keep praying for Miss Kittie.  She has gone back to Montgomery with her son, Jeff.

Heard from Jeanette.  She is not totally free of the walker but is now going between it and her cane.  Sonny saw his doctor and was told that he does not need surgery at this point – answer to prayer.  Keep praying for Sonny & Jeanette.

Tim Knighten heard from MDA and has an appointment on Tuesday, May 10.  He and Peggy “could” be there for up to five days.  Pray for Tim.

Elaine Brown is taking a chemotherapy pill and radiation simultaneously.  Pray for her to do well with this regiment.

Keep praying for Myrtle.

Keep praying for Rodney Whitehurst.

Keep praying for Donnie Felps.

Bro. Abel called me yesterday to share that his son, Gideon, is now on the Pensacola Christian College varsity soccer team.  Congratulations to Gideon!  Bro. Abel was super excited.  I think his excitement is more about getting to go to Buccee’s each time Gideon has a home game.  LOL!

I “think” that covers it all.  Pray for these folks and those mentioned in the earlier entry.

I pray that you will have a great rest of your Thursday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 4/21/22 (FIRST ENTRY)

I begin with sad news.  Elizabeth Westbrook sent me a message fairly quickly after last night’s service to share that her paternal Uncle, Brian McMann, unexpectedly passed from this life.  He and his family live in Grand Bay.  Brian was forty nine years old.  Pray for his wife, children, parents, and the rest of the family.  Obviously, arrangements pending.

Carol Lucky spent a couple of days in the hospital but was discharged yesterday.  Pray for Carol to continue to do well.

Buddy Brewer had to have three stents placed in one leg while the other leg had naturally bypassed the blockage.  All went well and Buddy came home – praise the Lord!

Steve Morris meets with a nephrologist today.  Pray for that to be a productive and positive meeting.

My cousin, Brad, called last night while I was with the McMann family.  He told Lisa that he will be having surgery but I do not know the details at this point.

My sister, Melissa, has had two tests and everything came back normal.  We are thankful.

I need to get updates from some others and will then post a second entry later today.

Let me make a major point of clarification regarding Lisa and Priester’s Pecans.  Lisa does not buy pecans there!  Preister’s has a gift shop and they sell the “cutest” things!  You have to pass through the “cutest” things in order to get to the restrooms (how convenient is that?).  Lisa’s money is spent on “cute” stuff and not pecans!

As I figured, the no mask mandate on planes put in place by the Judge in Florida is most likely not going to last long.  I will go from a happy camper to a not so happy camper!  Just the facts!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 4/20/22

I was mistaken on Miss Kittie’s procedure.  It actually is scheduled to take place this morning.  Pray that all goes well.

Miss Vinnie Brewer’s son, Buddy, has some blockages in his legs.  A test will be done today to see if the body has already done a natural bypass around these blockages.  If not, the plan is to place stents in his legs.  Pray for all to go well for Buddy.

As I mentioned yesterday, Jeanette Bates will see her surgeon today in hopes of being able to donate her walker to next year’s yard sale!  Pray that becomes a reality!

Keep praying for Myrtle Bowden as she is now taking treatments again.

Steve Morris will meet with a nephrologist tomorrow before seeing an oncologist on Monday.  Keep praying for Steve.

Pearl sent me a note yesterday saying they were going to do a tracheotomy on Terry yesterday in order to help get him off the vent.  Pray for this to help.

Regular schedule on our campus this morning and evening.

Lisa arrived in Birmingham safe and sound.  Preister’s Pecans had a great Tuesday economically!  Just saying!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus!

TUESDAY, 4/19/22

Pray for Myrtle Bowden as she began her treatment yesterday morning.  She has been a real trooper through all of her physical problems and just keeps moving forward.  She has a strong faith.

Miss Kittie Camp was to have fluid drawn from her lungs yesterday morning.  As of early yesterday afternoon, she was still waiting for that to happen.  Pray for Miss Kittie.

I have not gotten an update on Terry Brinkman but am assuming he is still in the ICU.  Keep praying for Karen and family.

Steve Morris is scheduled to meet with an oncologist on Monday afternoon, 4/25.  Pray.

Tim Knighten continues to wait on an appointment at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.  Pray.

Donnie Felps is now having problems with his shoulders and will see a doctor this week, Pray for Donnie & Marisa.

Larry Whitehurst was in our second service this past Sunday.  He was not feeling “great” but he told me that he was not missing the Easter Sunday service.  Keep praying for Larry’s recovery.

Rodney Whitehurst should have received another radiation treatment yesterday and will do the same this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon.

It was great to see young Carter Busby in our 8:00AM service this past Sunday.  Pray for her complete recovery.

Jeanette Bates will see her surgeon tomorrow and, prayerfully, will ditch her walker.  She is past ready!  Keep praying.

Speaking of Jeanette, she along with James Mareno and Raymond Wilkinson receive a huge “thank you” for ministering during all three of our worship services on Easter Sunday.  Obviously, Jeanette was the pianist, James did the video and Raymond ran the audio.  I so appreciate these three!  Bro. Abel was also present for all three services.

Bro. Dylan and crew had a great Easter Saturday on our campus as just under five hundred folks were in attendance.  Good stuff! To God be the glory!

Regular schedule on our campus tomorrow morning and evening.

Please pray for my sister, Melissa, and my first cousin, Brad, as they both wait for doctor’s visits and are concerned about possible malignancies.

Also, Lisa will be traveling to Birmingham today for a State Farm meeting tomorrow.  Lord willing, she will return home tomorrow night.  Pray for her to have safety as she travels.  Priester’s Pecans is about to have a great Tuesday!  Just saying!

I am thankful for the judge who lifted the mask mandate on planes – hallelujah!  I am in hopes it remains true and does not get overturned!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

SATURDAY, 4/16/22

Talked to Tim & Peggy Knighten yesterday.  Tim has heard from M.D. Anderson and is waiting for them to set an appointment there for Tim.  Keep praying!

Steve Morris sent me a message that he will meet with an oncologist on Monday, April 25.  Pray for wisdom for the doctor along with Steve & Virginia.

Spoke to Jeanette Bates.  She is doing well and hopes to get rid of her walker this Wednesday.  Pray that will become a reality.

Miss Kittie Camp will have fluid drawn from her lung(s?) on Monday, 4/18.  Pray that all will go well.  I am in hopes that Miss Kittie will be able to join us for one of tomorrow’s services.

Larry Whitehurst told me yesterday that he is improving daily.  He plans to be in one of the services tomorrow.  Keep praying.

Larry & Judy’s son, Rodney, receiving his first two radiation treatments this week.  I was wrong (imagine that!) about his schedule.  He will receive a treatment every Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday for the next five weeks.  Pray for all to go well.

Edna Pearl just called to tell me that they have been on the proverbial roller coaster with Terry Brinkman.  He has now undergone another surgery.  He has a few issues and they are searching for answers.  Pray for Terry, the medical folks and Terry’s family during this time.

Brad Turrentine is one of my first cousins.  He just learned that he has two masses – one behind each kidney.  The doctor suspects a malignancy.  Brad contacted me on Thursday asking us to pray for him.  Please join me in praying for Brad.  He is a strong believer in Jesus and a great guy!

Just called my sister, Melissa.  She has passed seven kidney stones this week and still has stones in her kidneys.  The doctor has seen something on her liver and is concerned.  She will have a test(s) next week.  Please join me in praying for Melissa.

Our Easter Saturday was a huge success!  We had just under five hundred folks in attendance!  The CAB was filled!  Eggs were everywhere.  Thanks for Bro. Dylan and all who helped in any way.

Soccer seems to be going well today.  Soccer and well in the same sentence – oxymoron?  (Asking for a friend)

Worship services tomorrow at 6:00AM (Bro. Jerry Hovel preaching); 8:00AM (Bro. Abel Garcia preaching) and 10:30AM (not much in the way of a preacher).  No other services or classes tomorrow!

We will be continuing the sign up for our crawfish/shrimp boil which will take place on Sunday, May 8, beginning at 5:00PM.

Lisa and I had a good trip to Hartselle.  We left Thursday morning and got home last night.  It was good spending time with Mama and other family members.  Even went to a political rally – Tracie Turrentine for Superintendent of Education!  We are grateful to the Lord for a good, safe trip.  By the way, Lisa basically slept all the way home.  Once at home, I had to pick her up out of the car and carry her to bed – my aching back!  Just saying!

I pray that you will have a great rest of your Saturday with Jesus.
