TUESDAY, 2/9/10

Thirty-eight years ago today, Miss Edna began her duties as church secretary.  If you get a chance, give her a call today to congratulate her.  By the way, she was 50 years old when she started – LOL!  Happy anniversary Miss Edna!

Miss Kathleen Richards has become much more non-responsive so please keep praying for her.

The plans are to move Kevin Sprinkle’s mother from ICU to a regular room in order for the family to be with her.  Pray for this family.

Patty Suthoff was admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening.  They originally thought it was a problem with her gall bladder but are now saying pancreatitis.  She was in a great deal of pain yesterday morning.  Pray for her.

Miss Kathleen Henderson is in a contact isolation room.  I visited yesterday but didn’t get to see her.  Gloria Whitmore came home from the hospital late yesterday afternoon.  Sidney Walker, Karen’s husband, had been hospitalized but the also came home yesterday.  Bobby O’Bannon was also discharged yesterday.  Pray for these folks.

Pastor Jack Bailey’s brother-in-law, Hural Jones, remains in a Birmingham hospital and is not doing well at all.  As of this writing, he remains on a ventilator but the family has some tough decisions ahead of them.  Pray for Pastor Jack’s sister and  her family.

I learned last night that Pastor Benny Still is in a hospital in Jackson, MS but I don’t know the details.  Pray for him.

Several folks mentioned yesterday that they were glad the Saints won but felt bad for Peyton.  People, he graduated from UT so do not feel sorry for him!

I have to get serious about training for the upcoming 5K race being sponsored by our student ministry.  Deacon Kenny Lingle has called me out!  I have never run 5,000 miles before but I’m going to try!  Now, I’m calling Joe David Bailey out to come join us!  Speaking of Joe David, my nephew-in-law, Adam Glenn, has lost 23 pounds in their biggest loser contest – wow!

Soy wanted me to mention that he fed our dog while I was out of town.  He would rather get his credit here rather than in Heaven!  Thanks, Soy!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 2/8/10

This entry is way late as it is 9:30AM already.  Suffice it to say that my internet service is down at the house and other things have prevented me from posting until now.  Sorry about that!

Lesson learned – having a service at 5:00PM followed by a fellowship at 6:00PM on Super Bowl Sunday is not a good idea!  We  had a decent crowd for the service but the number at the fellowship was low! We did have some great food & fellowship though.   However, Mike & Dottie did a wonderful job of sharing about the ministry at Casa Aleluya.

Gloria Whitmore is in the hospital having a stress test done this morning.  Hopefully, she will then come home.  Kevin Sprinkle’s mother is in an ICU and is not expected to live.  Kathleen Richards is not doing good at home.  Kathleen Henderson is in a local hospital with another problem with her lungs.  Pray for these folks.

Congratulations to the Saints on the victory last night.  I really didn’t care which team won but I was happy for Bro. Robbie.  I didn’t even watch all of the game.  I am a Colts fan from the Johnny U, Bert Jones, et cetera days but it really didn’t matter to me.

Gotta go!  Hope you have a great Monday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 2/5/10

The funeral service for Miss Minerva Hyatt (Norman Richerson’s sister) is this morning at 11:00AM from the New Life Baptist Church in Bay Minette.  Pray for the family as they go through this time.

Miss Kathleen Richards remains at home and is still a very sick lady.  Pray for her along with Chuck & Beth.

Miss Fannie Fortenberry was admitted to the hospital yesterday.  They are doing tests to determine the exact cause of  her problems.

Bro. Jerry went to visit with Jayne English yesterday but did not find any of her family in the waiting room.  I assume things are no different there.

As far as I know, Bobby O’Bannon remains hospitalized.  Pray for all of  these folks.

Friendship family, remember our “Souper Super Fellowship” this Sunday beginning with a service at 5:00PM.  Mike & Dottie Clark will be our guests.  At 6:00PM we will move the CAB for our “souper” fellowship.

Raymond & Tina are hosting a going away fellowship for Rhea this Sunday afternoon in the student ministries building from 2:00 – 3:30PM.  The Friendship family is invited.  Rhea Rhea is a sweetheart and we will definitely miss her as she leaves to begin her military service.

I am going with the Colts (23 – 21) over the Saints but will not be surprised if the Saints win.

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 2/4/10

Happy 18th birthday Hien!  I hope you have a great one.  (Like I think she reads this blog!)  For those who don’t know, Hien (pronounced Henny) is our Vietnamese daughter.  We are such a diverse family as we also have Soy as our Filipino son-in-law!

Norman Richerson’s sister, Minerva Hyatt, passed away.  I do not know the arrangements but ask you to pray for this family.

Amanda O’Bannon’s brother, Bobby, has pneumonia and one of his lungs collapsed.  He is a local hospital so pray for him.

I don’t have any other updates so I will assume that no news is good news.  Keep praying for the team doing ministry in Guatemala.

We will have the 5:00PM service only this Sunday, 2/7, meaning no AWANA or DT.  The fellowship will begin at 6:00PM.

I hope you have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 2/3/10

Miss Kathleen Richards continues to be a very sick lady in need of our prayers.  Pray for her as well as Chuck & Beth as they care for her.

The surgical procedure on Jayne English went well.  She is still basically not responding but perhaps this trach will allow her to wake up.  Keep praying.

Bro. Jerry will be preaching in the 10:00AM & 7:00PM services today.  Of course, we will have our regular classes/Bible studies this evening.

Don’t forget our “Souper Super Fellowship” this Sunday.  Service at 5:00PM followed by the souper fellowship at 6:00PM.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 2/2/10

Caroline Ford came home from the hospital yesterday.  She is weak & tired but grateful that her situation happened as it did.  Pray for her complete recovery.

Miss Kathleen Richards was very sick yesterday.  She is at home but her situation is serious.  Keep praying for her too.

Mr. Fore was moved from the ICU to a regular room.  Pray for him.

Nanette Fontenot e-mailed me last night to give an update on Jayne English.  They are going to put a trach in tomorrow afternoon at 1:00PM.  She will still be on the vent.  There have been no significant changes since last week.  Pray for Jayne, Kendall Wayne, and the entire family.

We are going to have a “Souper Super Fellowship” this Sunday, 2/7.  Here is the game plan – we will have a service at 5:00PM followed by an “eatin meetin” at 6:00PM.  We need folks to bring their favorite soup, chili, stew, et cetera plus a dessert.  Sherry Lavelle will coordinate the fellowship and I appreciate her being willing to do whatever.

Folks, I know the Saints are in the Super Bowl but I also know that we don’t need to not have a church service.  I have prayed about what to do and feel good about the aforementioned schedule.  I pray that the Friendship family will be faithful to attend this evening service.

All is well in Guatemala.  Lisa is flying home today.  Pray for her safety.

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 2/1/10

As many of you know, I am in Guatemala leading our first GRACE team of 2010.  You can follow that team by clicking on the GRACE blog on this site’s home page.

What a joy to welcome Bill & Debbie Kendrick into our fellowship by transfer of letter yesterday.  God is good and we are grateful to Him for giving the increase.

I appreciate Bro. Robbie & Bro. Jerry Whitmore (Spanish service) preaching in my absence yesterday.

Caroline Ford was moved from ICU yesterday and may go home today.  Mr. Fore (Barbara Kelley’s dad) may get moved to a room today.  Bill Unrue was in one of the morning services yesterday.  Keep praying for Miss Joyce Bosarge, Jayne English, Carla Kyser and all of the others who are battling various illnesses.

Lord willing, I will be posting here daily and the GRACE blog will be updated daily too.

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.
