SATURDAY, 8/24/13

Amy Reynold’s maternal grandmother passed away yesterday.  Will called to tell me about the situation but I have not spoken to Amy yet.  The arrangements are incomplete.  We will post them here once they have been finalized.  Pray for the Eden family.

The service with the men from the mission seemed to go well last night.  I appreciate each member of the Friendship family who attended or helped in any way.  Special thanks to Kenny Lingle for leading the ministry to those men.

We are on a regular schedule tomorrow morning and evening.  I pray that many members of the Friendship family will join us for the services, Sunday School, and Discipleship Training.

I pray that you will have a great Saturday with Jesus.

FRIDAY, 8/23/13

Word came last night that Jennings Brewer’s family has been told by the medical professionals that, in their opinion, his life can now be measured in days.  As far as I know, he remains in a convalescent facility.

Word also came yesterday morning that the hospice care professionals believe that Harold Mast’s earthly life can now be measured in weeks.  Mr. Harold is the father of Jill Ellens, Shari Compagner, Kathy Genzink & Kurt Mast.  He and Miss Joyce went on a GRACE trip several years ago.  Of course, Harold & Joyce live in Michigan and he is in a convalescent facility too.

Courtney says that a couple of good things have happened in her nephew’s (Connor) life.  He still has physical problems and remains in ICU.

I did not get by to see Miss Barbara Nevin yesterday but do know that she continues to need our prayers as do these other situations listed.  Also, pray for the Christians in Egypt.

The service with the men from the Mission of Hope takes place tonight beginning at 7:00PM in our auditorium.  If it happens like last time, the men will eat first and then the service will begin.  If you need clarification on this, contact Deacon Kenny Lingle.  Everyone is invited to attend this service which will feature musical worship.  (Word has it that Morris & Kyle are going to sing a duet but that could be just rumor?)

The wedding shower for Kayla Brown and her husband elect, Rick Bradley, Jr. takes place this Sunday, 8/25, from 2:00 – 3:30PM in the fellowship hall.  I think they are registered at Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Home Depot and Greer’s.  (I could be wrong – imagine that!)

Bernard Suthoff & John Milton Ladnier have led a group of folks working on the new office suite.  I saw a group over there last night.  I appreciate all of the work being done.  Hopefully, we will soon be using the new offices.

Not that it matters but the college football season begins next Saturday, 8/31, at 4:30PM in the Georgia Dome.  I am ready.  How about the game on Thursday night, 8/29?  How about it?  I know Bill Kendrick and the other eight Mississippi Black Bear fans are excited but. . .  LOL!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 8/22/13

Jeanette Bates shared with us last night that Brenda Timberlake had called for special prayer for her sister, Lisa Thompson, in her battle against cancer.  I do not know the details but do ask that you say a prayer for Lisa.

Rob’s mother, Miss Barbara, was moved to a convalescent facility.  I hope to check on her at some point today.

Miss Lillian Brinkman spent Tuesday night in the hospital but came home yesterday.

Miss June Bailey’s eye surgery was a success.

As far as I know, there are no significant changes in the others mentioned in yesterday’s entry.

Terry Lucky is scheduled to have one of his knees replaced on 9/5.

Good services yesterday/last night.  Parents of our school age children appreciate the earlier starting time.

The service with the men from the Mission of Hope will take place this Friday night, 8/23, in our auditorium.  Begins at 7:00PM.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Questions?  Contact Deacon Kenny Lingle.

“Do good unto all men especially those who are of the household of faith!”  Do something good for someone today!

WEDNESDAY, 8/21/13

Courtney Cavin’s newborn nephew, Connor, is having some physical problems so he is in a local hospital’s ICU.  Pray for him.

Carl Brinkman (age 10, I think), son of Martin & Jennifer, has been having some problems that could lead to surgery in the near future.

Miss June Bailey, Pastor Jack’s wife, is having cataract surgery this morning.  Pray for her.  She could call Kenny Lingle for the details of what to expect as he just went through the same procedure.

Visited Rob Nevin’s mother, Miss Gertrude Versiga, and Hilda’s neighbor, Phoebe, in the hospital yesterday.  All three of these ladies are in tough shape and need our prayers.

Visited the folks in the convalescent home too.  Everyone that I visited seemed to be doing well.

I missed announcing the wedding shower for Dylan Westbrook & Elizabeth McMann that took place this past Sunday, 8/18.  I apologize but I did not know about it.  If you missed it, please consider buying a gift and bringing it to any of the services.

I believe there is another wedding shower this Sunday, 8/25.  Can someone give me the details?

We are on a regular schedule today/tonight.  I think the menu for the 7:30PM Bible study is meatball subs.  I pray that many members of the Friendship family will join us for these Bible studies, classes, et cetera.  School has started again so we should settle into a routine now.  Make Wednesday church part of your normal routine.  Remember, we now start at 6:30PM!

Soy is now claiming that the chickens do not belong to him.  He built the coop, went and bought (I use that term loosely) the feeders, water containers, et cetera and went to get the chickens from Maria.  The bottom line is that he is “mad” because they are not laying eggs.  Wants me to take them to the vet to see if they are roosters – please!

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.

TUESDAY, 8/20/13

Ruby Gulley did well through her surgery – that is the good news.  The not so good news is that this procedure “may” have to be repeated again and possibly again and the possibly again – you get the idea.  Pray that this surgery will be deemed a success and no further surgeries will be needed.

Rob Nevin’s mother took a fall late last week and is in the hospital.  She is in a lot of pain and they are not sure what they will do to treat her.

J.B. Kelley continues to have physical problems and needs our prayers.

Miss Gertrude Versiga is in the hospital battling pneumonia.  Mr. George was in our second service this past Sunday and told me about it.

Hilda Gunter’s neighbor, Phoebe, is also hospitalized and is in serious condition.

I was in New Orleans until around 6:00PM yesterday so I did not get to visit the local hospitals.  I plan on doing that today plus visiting the folks in the convalescent home.  Bro. Jerry went and prayed with Rob’s mother yesterday and I appreciate that.

It always happens – children want a pet and promise to take care of it only to “forget” within a matter of days and/or weeks.  The parent then has to take over the day to day responsibilities of caring for the said pet.  How are the chickens doing?  Do not ask Soy as he has not seen them in a couple of weeks!

I pray that you will have a great Tuesday with Jesus.

MONDAY, 8/19/13

We enjoyed a good day in our services yesterday.  Even though it was raining very hard during the morning services, we still had a nice attendance as we stayed above the four hundred mark.  The evening service was well attended too.  The student band and Bro. Chris did a nice job of leading us in worship through song and the spoken Word.  Of course, it was good to have Bro. Kerry leading the musical worship in the morning services.

Katie & Addison were discharged from the hospital on Friday, Sara Nell on Saturday, and Daphne & Nora yesterday.  Bob Henley has begun his radiation treatments as well as chemo by mouth.  Chastity Touchstone has begun her radiation treatments.  Carla Kyser remains on the same treatments as she has been receiving.

Ruby Gulley is scheduled to have surgery in New Orleans today.  I plan on being there for that procedure.  Pray for Ruby.

Soy celebrated a birthday yesterday and, since I did not post an entry yesterday, I will wish him a belated “happy birthday” today.  Is that nice of me, or what!

I pray that you will have a great Monday with Jesus.

NORA ANN HUTTO IS HERE!

This afternoon around 3:00PM, Nora Ann, made her appearance into this world.  She checked in weighing 6 pounds 7 ounces and is 19 inches long.  Brad, Daphne, Titus & Emmy are happy to have this new addition to their family.  Everyone is well.

FRIDAY, 11/16/13

Visited Sara Nell yesterday morning and she was doing good.  However, she had not been up since her surgery.  I am sure she did well when they got her up and about.  She was originally thinking that she would be discharged on Saturday but I do not know if that will be true or not.

Visited Grant, Katie & Addison yesterday too.  Katie’s blood pressure has been too high and they are not sure as to why.  (Living with Grant may have finally caught up to her?)  They were thinking that Katie & Addison would be discharged today.

Lisa and I attended the funeral service for Mary Blair yesterday afternoon.  It was a God honoring service.  Pastor Terry sang to begin the service and his brother, Pastor Mike, brought the message.  The chapel was SRO.  I appreciate Jeanette Bates alerting me to Mary’s passing so we could attend.

Miss Catherine Leach, mother of Elizabeth Session and Ginny Easterling, will have a surgical procedure this morning.  Pray that all goes well.

Heard via an e-mail from Danny Lafferty that Miss Louise Ford passed away yesterday afternoon.   I met Miss Louise in 1998 on my first trip to Guatemala.  She was a very faithful supporter of Bro. Danny’s ministry.  Pray for her family as they walk through this valley.  Miss Louise was 80 years of age.

Bro. Jim, Glenda, & Justin Chinners and Bro. Chris fed the teachers/staff at GBMS yesterday morning.  Those four did a very nice job and the teachers/staff were very appreciative.

Think our chickens are Baptist!  Three stay together and totally exclude the other two!

Found out yesterday that one of the educators at GBMS is a faithful reader of this blog.  That moves our readership up to 13!  Is that exciting or what!

I pray that you will have a great Friday with Jesus.

THURSDAY, 8/15/13

Sara Nell Moulds did well through her surgery.  I went and had prayer with her and stayed for a couple of hours before Bro. Chris came to sit with the family until the surgery was complete.  I appreciate Bro. Chris doing that.

Katie & Addison remain hospitalized.

J.B. Kelley was discharged from the hospital last yesterday afternoon.

One of Marisa Felps’ co-workers, Mr. James, is in the hospital and is not expected to live.  He is 85 years of age.

Pastor Terry Blair’s wife, Mary, passed away on Sunday.  She has battled cancer for years.  She was 58 years of age.  Lord willing, I will attend that service this afternoon.

Bro. Chris, Bro. Jim and others will be feeding the staff/teachers at the GBMS this morning.  Pray for this ministry.

We had a “normal” Wednesday in our services.  The attendance in our morning service was good.  Lisa and Deidra did a nice job of cooking the stromboli.  Cooked too much but it was good!

I am so ready for the college football season to begin.  It “officially” begins on 8/31 in the Georgia Dome!  Bring it on!

One of Soy’s chickens attacked me yesterday.  If it happens again, we will be having fried chicken for our Sunday dinner!

I pray that you will have a great Thursday with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY, 8/14/13

Sara Nell Moulds will have knee replacement surgery this morning.  She is first on the list which means her surgery should begin around 7:00AM.

Ruby Gulley’s surgery was postponed until next Monday, 8/19.  That is good for me as it may mean that I can be present for it – we will see.

J.B. Kelley was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon.  They are supposed to do some tests to determine his problems.

Katie and Addison will remain hospitalized for a couple of days.  I totally expect them to be in church this Sunday morning!

The visitation with the Walter Weaver family takes place from noon until the 2:00PM service time.  Visitation and service at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore.

Phillip Turner’s brother will be moved to an out of town rehab facility this morning.

Sue Blodgett’s sister, Gail, remained in CCU yesterday morning but was doing good all things considered.

Visited with Miss Exie, Miss Marie, Miss Betty, and Miss Nell in the convalescent home yesterday morning.  They all seemed to be doing good.

Regular schedule today/tonight.  Remember, the evening service/Bible studies/classes begin at 6:30PM.  I think Lisa is going to cook stromboli for the 7:30PM Bible study.

I pray that you will have a great Wednesday with Jesus.
